Excellent monitoring Service
What do you like best about the product?
Working in the PR industry, I find Meltwater's monitoring service world class. It's effective, and efficient and the platform is easy to use with some basic training and instruction.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's can take a while for new web sites to be configured for monitoring
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to provide up to date monitoring to our clients, based on keyword searches, be that for online, social media, or broadcast outlets. The journalist database is also a great source of contacts for the industry.

I have encountered some bugs occasionally, especially with the Boolean search field

Meltwater's media directory is terrific.

Meltwater really has nothing to dislike.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Meltwater gives my small trade association an extended media reach into all national and regional markets. We could not reach as many reporters and editors without Meltwater's services.

That is a single platform that provides the ability to:

What do you dislike about the product?
1) Wish you could build Publication lists and not just contact lists.
And then have the ability to generate contact lists from the publication lists along with filters for beat.

Ability to serve my clients with a single platform that provides the ability to:

Very happy with usability and support provided with Meltwater subscription
What do you like best about the product?
I've used other media monitoring services in the past and had a bad experience. The platform was difficult to use with many errors and it was difficult to get problems solved. I am very happy we switched to Meltwater because an actual person helps me problem-solve and I get my questions answered quickly, within minutes usually. Also, I find the influencer search very easy and effective to use. And, I think the reporting tools are better than other services.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting tools could be improved. Would love to be able to pull TV, print and social clips all in one report with analytics broken out and together. I also still get irrelevant news clips (the majority of my clips) back, so it takes some weeding out. Some influencer content is outdated with bad contact info.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Analytics. Love being able to show year-over-year media growth and the value of our earned media.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We looked at several options before switching to Metlwater and feel we made the right choice. It's an essential tool for us in marketing/communications.

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater offers a great selection of business analytics and social listening tools and they will easily create a custom menu to meet your needs. One client of mine wanted to get a better understanding of how much value they were receiving from their social and news outlets. Meltwater's AVE (Advertising Value Equivalent) metric allowed them to access the monetary value from their received coverage in a monthly report.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have used the Meltwater product for several years and there is nothing I dislike about the product or service. If you don't stay engaged with the product and don't have constant communication with Meltwater's support and help teams then you won't be getting the most out of the services you're paying for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Making sure that the client I am representing is fully engaged with the Meltwater support team and utilizing the Meltwater product at its fullest.

need more granularity with regard to filters, how do you filter out the unwanted news of a specific company which might be our competitors but that news is not relevant to our company product.

if you want to know the reach and comparison with other companies this is a easy tool
Due to the pay wall for some of the articles.

The analytics reports are easy to access within minutes.

Meltwater doesn't break down by 1) TV 2) radio 3) online + print.

The benefits of Meltwater are the analytics reports that are reported to the College Commissions
The Things You Need + The Things You Wish You Had
What do you like best about the product?
The thing about Meltwater is that it can scale with your organization's needs. It has the powerful tools you expect, like newswire integration and social scheduling, but also has things like customizable boolean based news listening. The UX is easy, the UI is simple to move around in. Simply put, it is the tool that will get all your needs met plus provide some integrations you didn't know you wanted.
What do you dislike about the product?
The price. Even though this is a classic 'you get what you pay for' situation, it is still pricey. You will feel it regardless of the level you choose. The sting isn't removed or amended either when they talk about the features they are working on...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it for social listening, news listening, competitor tracking, and wire distribution. We realized that being able to see things like competitor share of voice is a great use of the platform.
