A Great Media Monitoring Tool for Communications
What do you like best about the product?
One of the best features from Meltwater is the Explore functionality. The ability to perform highly specific boolean searches is an incredible tool to monitor brand mentions and perform news/insight searches.
What do you dislike about the product?
When organizing lists, the tag feature is useful, but it makes it difficult to easily edit a tag to organize searches by category. Also, the newsletters are a bit bland and it would be great to have the capability to customize them visually.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The biggest problem solved by using Meltwater is a gap in media monitoring. Meltwater makes it easy to track mentions, sentiment, and other metrics and report them out via email and/or Slack which has been incredibly useful to stay up to date.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a highly useful tool for media monitoring and the customer support is excellent.

What do you dislike about the product?
How the information appears. It's pretty plain and not super eye-catching if I was going to take screenshots to share with others.
It shouldn't so difficult to build search queries. Searches depend on the boolean query being typed exactly correct. I feel like there's got to be a way to automate the process so that users should only have to type the word (or words) relevant to them - instead of having to know how precisely the parenthesis should appear.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Social listening and alerts on topics. I'm able to receive email alerts on certain topics that are of utmost importance to my organization and deliver these updates to senior leaders in a timely fashion.

Know what your organizational goals are before signing on to use the product. That will make the experience much more efficient and productive.

What do you like best about the product?
Explore is the best tool to make social listening researches and analysis. Even when some of it's filters can be improved, the quantity of data and the options to edit it (via csv files) are great.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Analysis feature needs to be improved to be the best option in the market because sometimes it doesn't show the correct data and suffers issues and date delays. A few times in 2020 the tool suffers breakdowns that delays more than 24 hours to be solved and that have several implications for my clients' reports.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Social listening for my clients and their competitors. Analysis of their conversations to improve their service and to do better marketing strategies. A day-by-day understanding of their buyers and communities.

The best tool in the market for SL and media analysis but with a big scope of tools improvements.
Really enjoyed using the Meltwater app and would recommend to anyone.

I love how easy it is to access information on what our company is achieving online. It allows us to monitor and strategize for the present & future.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much to be honest. It does quite a lot of what we need.

As mentioned befoe, it allows us to get a better idea of what we're achieving as a company and allows us to strategize campaigns for the future.

Make sure you get your booleans accurate so you can make the out of the searches.
Incredible onboarding process with a hugely helpful team.
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwaters ability to pull together data from so many different areas and present it in one easy to understand place with clearly labelled metrics. Their onboarding process is slick and professional too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, understanding the booleans and troubleshooting what is wrong with your boolean can be quite difficult, especially if you have colleagues who aren't technical trying to use the platform, but the live chat and help functions are more than adequate for solving the issues.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've managed to solve our lack of foresight on regulatory issues. The regulator for our industry often posts online and usually one person has to comb through their accounts to get what has been happening, Meltwater puts this all in one area and tells us which posts are being noticed too.

Make sure you take advantage of the stellar onboarding program and helpful staff.

Would be helpful to include data on TikTok and Snapchat

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is easy to use, and being relatively new to the platform, I've found the chat to be a huge help. The staff is wonderful and the dashboards are easy to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
As a new user, I haven't found much that I dislike about the platform. A few of the functions are still a bit confusing - it is always difficult to see how something was generated in a training session and then attempt to recreate that on your own. But other than still learning, I have found it very helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The real-time data is a huge help. In corporate communications, things move very quickly so it is wonderful to have a tool that provides updated information as soon as it seems like something needs to be wathced.

I guess the only downside I can think of is that sometimes the content that is filtered through is very far away from what i am looking for

Yes.despite the lack of API access for Facebook and IG meltwater is extremely helpful and can still provide a good insight into our audience
Good PR and Marketing Resource
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater has great analytics and dashboards to help inform strategies and show the impact of communications efforts. Lots of strong functionality, so you don't need several products.
What do you dislike about the product?
LinkedIn integration is lacking and that is an important channel for us. Also, it is hard not to get the hundreds of press release pickups included in coverage reports without also losing some earned media pieces. That creates challenges with reporting as they artificially raise media pickups.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a better understanding of the impact of our campaigns and outreach -- we can share this with executive teams, giving them a clearer view. The reports are helpful.

It is a comprehensive tool -- look at all of the options for licensing.
