AI has helped classify threat types more accurately but product ownership can improve
What is our primary use case?
What is most valuable?
Abnormal Security's AI capabilities are what we like most, as they can categorize and classify the emails, and based on the context of the email, understand if it's a graymail, a bulk mail, or a phish. Some valuable insights and analytics from the dashboard include productivity-level and threat-level metrics, such as time spans and emails recalled.
What needs improvement?
Ease of use is important, and Abnormal Security's responsiveness and ability to deliver solutions when issues arise are crucial. However, there is always room for improvement, as achieving a perfect 10 means there is no more room for enhancement. For Abnormal Security, it's about leveraging AI even more, which they are already working on in their roadmap.

The integration process with Abnormal Security into our existing infrastructure was pretty easy.
What other advice do I have?
We do have experience with Abnormal Security, and we are currently using it. For Abnormal Security as a product, I would say probably somewhere around a seven, as there are some other areas where they can improve to achieve a higher rating. The review rating for Abnormal Security is an 8.

Blown away by how effective this platform is a stopping phishing emails.
What do you like best about the product?
It catches everything, we had this system in a live state for over a month now and I haven't seen a single phishing email slip through.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a premium product, with a fairly high price tag.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our traditional Secure Email Gateway was letting through so many malicious phishing emails, I trialled Abnormal for 3 months and it blocks everything. I'm aware that at some point something will slip the net but that's why we have Cyber Awareness Training, 24/7 monitoring, and Antivirus. I don't want to rely on this platform 100% but it's almost unbelievable how well it works, I will recommend this platform to anyone.

What do you like best about the product?
It is incredibly accurate and east to use. It is incredibly east to implement, support is timely and helpful, and it has reduced the amount of time that we have to spend managing our SEG drastically.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a small thing but I forget to switch off the default filters in the threat log sometimes.

Abnormal is filtering out email attacks and promotional emails with incredible accuracy.

What do you like best about the product?
We were early adopter of Abnormal as the API integration is the way forward, and getting off from Secure Email Gateway framework. API integration was done in minutes, and the Dashboard is easy to comprehend. We compared Abnormal with other platforms, and they stood out for ease of usage, ability to identify and differentiate from genuine and malicious email and high rate of efficacy. The greatest thing about Abnormal is once you set it up, you don't have to make changes. I look at the Dashboard infrequently, and it keeps doing its job. Machine Learning learns from user submissions and improves over time. Abnormal Customer Support is also very good and CSM helps to improve continuously.

Inability to customise for deep scanning in the first iteration

This makes it highly effective even against novel or zero-day attacks.

One potential drawback of Abnormal AI is that its deep behavioral analysis can sometimes flag legitimate emails as suspicious, especially in highly dynamic or fast-paced environments. This may lead to occasional false positives, requiring manual review and tuning to align with specific organizational workflows.

Abnormal AI solves the problem of detecting and preventing advanced email threats—like phishing, business email compromise (BEC), and account takeovers—by analyzing behavioral patterns rather than relying solely on static rules or signatures.
Set it and Forget it Protection
What do you like best about the product?
It works really well and requires very little upkeep. Setup is very quick and easy. The dashboard gives you quick insight into any blocked threats and anything that may require attention. Customer service is very helpful. Abnormal offers frequent Webinars to learn more about the product and new features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Could use more reporting. Specifically insights about attack patterns.

Abnormal catches phishing campaigns that make it through the traditional email spam gateway - especially campaigns crafted using AI to avoid common patterns like spelling/grammar mistakes.
Email Security that actually works
What do you like best about the product?
With Abnormal AI, my team isn't spending their valuable time and skills responding to Spam/Phishing/Junk emails each day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its a great product, the only area I wish it was different was if the was able to take action on the emails before it gets delivered.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us tackle the never ending Phishing problem that comes with having email, I've used a lot of email security products and they usually caused more problems than they solved. With Abnormal, I can trust that our users are being protected from Phishing emails and my SOC isn't wasting valuable responding to them everyday. What used to be a daily task, we now might have to address 1-2 emails a month, a huge time saving. Also, the Account Takeover alerting has been amazing, it provides high fidelity alerts with all the information we need to make quick decisions and stop attackers fast. This is the first AI based product that I have used that actually delivers on its promises.

Great augmentation to M365
What do you like best about the product?
Abnormal catches the things that Microsoft E5 doesn't. It detects anomalies with customer communications, changes in language and tone, and oftentimes will alert us to breaches of external parties before they even know. It's very easy to setup and integrates seamlessly without the need for any mail flow changes or introducing any points of failure. Support is spectacular and very responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
There really isn't much to not like. If anything, because it is a post processing tool, it can result in emails appearing briefly in mailboxes prior to remediation, but typically this only noticeable for a couple seconds in the worst-case circumstances.

Abnormal keeps malicious and annoying marketing email out of view from our employees and increases our security and productivity.
