Perfekt Tool for Developers and Designers. Maybe too complicated for Marketers

  • August 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
1. The way you can design and develop visually. I remember the old times using VSCode (which is still the best IDE in my opinion) with live-server on one screen and the Figma design file in another window. With Webflow i have the best of both worlds combined in one tool. No need to jump around.
2. I will never go back to develop sites in WordPress. Not even with an "easy to use" template. Webflow saved me from those horrors. Webflows CMS was always easier to use for my clients. The Editor is also one of the favorite features of my clients. The love to edit their content visually without having the risk to break the website.
3. A great community and a lot of helpful cloneable content/sites/tools (f.e. Finsweet)
4. Superfast servers and save hosting.
What do you dislike about the product?
1. As a lot of people already mentioned: The Site and Hosting Plans are very confusing at the beginning. Sometimes it's really hard to explain to the customer why he/she should use one plan over the other.
2. Not a dealbreaker, but there should be custom Viewports. To this day, I still have to write media queries for specific use cases.
3. Nested CMS-Collections should not be limited to 5 items. I had a few cases (most of them complex calenders) where i could have needed more items.
4. There is no native option for multilanguage pages. I know that there are awesome solutions like weglot. But it always ends the same way: either i have to explain to my client that she/he has to pay (for a good and reliable tool) or i have to duplicate the site at least and do the translation manually.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Complex animations and custom websites for clients in the art area.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Go through the Webflow university. It's a free and great resource to start out.

Out the box best practices

What do you like best about the product?
Great performance scores without any effort
What do you dislike about the product?
Some quirks like REMs not being a selectable option for size properties, although you can still use them
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I always struggled with integrating a content management system and managing the full tech stack as a designer. Webflow solves that issue for me and connects the back-end to front-end seamlessly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
100% do it. No need to reinvent the wheel when there are platforms that make best practices more accessible.

What do you like best about the product?
Webflow is a very modern and evolving platform. It allows you to build fast and functional websites. The customer service is on the highest level and the support of the support and community allows me to constantly develop my skills. Thanks to Webflow I gain new business opportunities and develop my company.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't find any disadvantages. So far, I have not had any problems.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The most important benefit for me is the speed of page building and responsiveness. Compared to the previous platform Webflow is many times faster than Wordpress. It allows to build interactions on a high level, and the constantly growing number of integrations makes my implementations more and more advanced.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's just worth trying to build a site or move from wordpress. You will feel the qualitative value of this platform right away.

Amazing no code web dev tool

  • August 19, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
For someone that doesn't come from a web dev/coding background but still wants a custom-built site, Webflow was that happy medium for me. A couple of hours inside Webflow university had me up to speed on everything I needed to know to start building my site.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing I really dislike. All I'll say is there are some tutorials that are missing that'll make Webflow a game changer for the average person looking to build a custom site.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My problem was that there were only two options in terms of site builders before Webflow was around. The very basic drag and drop builders like Squarespace, Wix etc and the more complex and unintuitive builders like Wordpress or just straight code. Webflow filled that gap in the middle and gave me the website customizability I was looking for without having to spend months learning a completely new discipline.

What do you dislike about the product?
The small limitations can block the road.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Create websites without the need for a developer.

Big fan

What do you like best about the product?
I find editing sites using Webflow very intuitive and I love the degree of control I have. I used Wordpress in the past and I found it clunky and slow in comparison.

I do have a basic understanding of HTML, CSS and a little JS (which I've never needed) which I think helps -- not for writing raw code, but for understanding all the options.

The University is a helpful resource -- the lessons are excellent, and I usually find answers when I need them.

Backups are super intuitive and automatic. Automatic code compression. Lot of other features like optimizing for SEO etc...

All around I am super happy with Webflow. I built and run two sites for businesses I own on it - one is a brand with basic ecomm and one is a simple website for an importing company.
What do you dislike about the product?
Seems like Webflow has fewer plugins than Wordpress, so this requires a little bit of extra work, but hasn't been a problem for me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Code-free web development of course. Also granular control of design. Huge time savings and way better outcomes (at least in my case) vs doing it from scratch and a way more intuitive and functional tool than Wordpress in my view.

What do you like best about the product?
Webflow is very powerful and easy to use. I love all tools that allow me to create beautiful and functional websites. I am a designer with no code experience, but Webflow made it possible to create incredible websites easily and fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing. everything about Webflow is great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Now I can create websites that my customers can easily manage. Webflow CMS is very powerful, easy to use, and completely customizable.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend Webflow for those of you who don`t know how to code but would love to build a beautiful and powerful website.

Gives Designers the Power to Build Complex Websites

  • August 18, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love that Webflow has given me the ability to build a web design business with confidence. I know basic CSS and HTML, but not enough to develop websites to the level I can with Webflow. It's so much more intuitive to use and secure and stable to use than the other programs I've used. It also has the best community to learn from. I love that they have a showcase area where you can look at how people build certain things and also clone them if you need to.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hosting is sometimes an issue with certain clients who don't want to use Webflow's. The pricing for some of the additional capabilities is sometimes frustrating. I also wish there were ways for client's to access the "editor" from a basic plan. Sometimes they just want to make quick text changes, but don't have a CMS. I think they have slowed down on providing new updates to the users. I know they're still working behind the scenes on a lot of things, but there's a lot of good ideas in the wishlist that would be good to have.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows me to be extremely efficient. I get a lot of comments about how quickly I can turn around projects. I have many clients that come to me from Wordpress and are always so happy to have much less complications and frustrations trying to figure out why their site is broken and/or not updated properly.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely a learning curve, but take time to practice and play around. That's the best way I learned new things...still do!
