Essential internal collaboration tool
What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to use and easy to get new team members up to speed on how to author on our internal wikis. User interface is clean and easy on the eyes. Good support and passionate user base makes it easy to get answers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Simultaneous editing by multiple users with saving on the fly keeps Confluence from being quite as awesome as, say, Google Docs for collaboration.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A central repository for software development information: time lines, test cases, development notes, obstacles, screen shots, whatever.
Excellent stack, always recommend to my colleagues and friends!
What do you like best about the product?
Full stack integration experience and very well documented. Confluence is also very well integrated into the entire Atlassian stack, customization and user control are also very well implemented and easy to use. Atlassian as a company also has been heading to the right direction with their software offerings and updates. Plugins in Confluence can also significantly customize your wiki experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
Specific features within Confluence are lacking such as the syntax, WYSIWYG editors need more work to make the included editor easier to use. Editor UI is sometimes weird when using page split features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Developing software and delivering software in a uniform platform has always been a challenge, especially with documentation. With Confluence, we can fill all our documentation needs be it the developers, the BAs, or our target audiences. We can also control this information and accessibility very very finely!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I fully recommend Confluence because it is a very powerful documentation software for both developers and business analysts. One could integrate the use of Confluence for all colleagues within the organization, and Confluence would satisfy the needs for both regular and power users.
Nice Integration with JIRA
What do you like best about the product?
Very light weight and well integrated product. This product is ideal for agile teams as overhead to maintain documents is very minimal. The best thing I like about it is the tight integration with JIRA. One can create a summary report in confluence, link with JIRA stories and when the status of the JIRA stories change, it automatically gets reflected in the confluence summary report
What do you dislike about the product?
To use the excel editing function, you need to be on the IE browser. there is no built in calendar support that is very easy to use. You have to pay for the calendar function separately. It should ideally be included in the core package
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
openness within team. This has definitely solved the problem of openness as all information, including our meeting notes are captured in confluence
Great Product
What do you like best about the product?
Easy searching functions
The ability to define pages with sections is useful to categorize information

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes slow
Easy to get carried away setting up freeform things so does require some discipline
Easy to get carried away setting up freeform things so does require some discipline
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data collection and disemination
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you plan your setup in a way that allows you to categorize and search information easily
Works well for virtual communication
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence worked very well for working with our vendor partner in a co-development situation. It's much more difficult for us to get them access to our on-prem tools like our SharePoint site
What do you dislike about the product?
No a full blown document sharing system. No check in/check out etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used primary for documentation shared with a vendor we were doing software co-development with.
Confluence is a library or at it is where I work.
What do you like best about the product?
It organizes information and files in a nice format.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not the best and not really sure what the intent of the product is?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Resource library.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
How much information do you need in a location. Is there an intranet already in place?
Great multi-user project documentation tool
What do you like best about the product?
The interface is simple to use which makes on-boarding new users easy, and its integration with products like Jira makes Confluence even more useful than it is as a standalone product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Navigation doesn't seem to have a rhyme or reason in terms of ordering. Additionally, it would be beneficial if changes made to a page in a short period of time were rolled up in one notification email, instead of a potentially overwhelming number of emails. Changes/mentions can be easy to overlook in the latter scenario.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication across teams, including developers, BA's, PM's, clients, analysts, etc. It's a great tool that enables people to seek out updates to projects or find information in wikis on their own. We've gone from using a handful of tools (Sharepoint, Google Docs, etc) to just one with the Confluence/Jira suite. As an analyst, it's great that clients are always able to go in and find whatever report they need as they're organized in an easy to follow manner in the relevant area.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that you keep up with what Atlassian is adding to their suite to maximize the functionality of Confluence. Putting the time in to get to know the tool inside and out when you first start using it leads to a lot of benefits down the road.
Confluence is a great resource for managing information for teams
What do you like best about the product?
I like Confluence because I like being able to store and search for handouts, information regarding the technology we use and the standards for it. I often use it to see the standard sizes for logos that are used within our technology. We can also find our technology's release notes easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that I wish would be to better find resources that I am looking for rather just searching the title or a keyword in the entry.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This allows us to have one version of the truth for our team to use so we have consistency throughout our application.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great resource to use while working with teams
Engineering Knowledge Base
What do you like best about the product?
I like how much power you have when creating new articles. You can make them look really nice and it handles creating tables beautifully. I have seen issue with that in other KB tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like how much it feels like an engineering tool. I get why because Jira is for engineers and this is an ancillary product. I would never use this for a customer facing KB.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A internal KB for engineering that links easily back to Jira tickets
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Buy if looking for an internal KB. Do not buy if looking for an external KB.
Nice way to share thoughts
What do you like best about the product?
Basically a forum for teams to discuss thoughts and knowledge. Very helpful...like a personal blog amongst teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not sure how I can search through the variety of teams, outside mine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tackling a problem using MY way, confluence lets people share their thoughts on a topic..give feed back, etc.
