Helpful Tool for Growing Companies

  • January 17, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a great resource to corral information. We use it internally as a wikipedia of sorts, where you can search for the info you're looking for. Its easy to use and intuitive in setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search functionality definitely needs some work. While its a great resource, searching for keywords can frequently overlook the page you're looking for- or take you to a page that has since been outdated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Its very helpful in making resources easy to find.

Easy to use and follow

What do you like best about the product?
The easiness of being able to find specific items and to be able to create subpages within the already existing pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search engine isn't always specific. It brings up way too many options.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use the product to track our companies and all of the details behind them. It is very convenient to be able to have them all in one place.

The Best Intranet So Far

  • January 17, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Its so easy to copy and paste Google Docs into Confluence and create new pages. Its perfect if you have no time and want it to look professional and functional.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cant think of anything negative at the moment to be honest. I find it mostly positive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The need to have alot of important IT/Facilities information in a central place for the IT Team and the end user to be able to search on.

A good tools for KB

What do you like best about the product?
It is relatively easy to use. I and/or my colleagues can add entries to document various technical processes we do. And it's fairly easy to search for and through these articles. The UI is fairly straight forward, which makes it fairly easy to pick up if you haven't used it before.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much I can say that I really dislike about it since it is fairly easy and simple to use. Maybe I can say that i dislike how the organization of the information can be better. Rather, the information of articles could have other groups to find information more efficiently if searching manually.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me provide tech documentation with the team. Benefits are that its easy to use across technical folks (i.e., Dev) as well as Windows or not so technical folks.

Confluence as documentation for development platforms

  • January 16, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use to create content. Often systems are too cumbersome to use, and thus people shy away from actually using them. Confluence makes creating and editing content easy and fun.
What do you dislike about the product?
The licensing makes it a bit of a barrier to sharing content with others in the company who don't have a login. You can generate static versions (download PDF, for example) but not provide read only links.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A single place to document our development practices, code base, code standards, environments, and processes. Previously we used Sharepoint, which took too much time to enter and manage content. Using Confluence, which is much easier and better suited for wiki / knowledge documentation, our team actually keeps it up to date and full of relevant, useful information. We rely on it daily.

It's an easily managed repository for team and company based documentation information.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to make organizationally based customizations to sort the information that's been added.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's created a central repository for the storage of documentation that can be easily utilized and updated by multiple teams.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be aware of the limitations of the software and ensure it meets your organization's requirements.

Likely the best solution available, but will not delight you by any means.

  • January 13, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence does integrate seamlessly with JIRA and other Atlassian products, and they have done a great job with making sure this is true for most of their product suite. Confluence is a good solution for about 80% of your use cases, and works well until you come up with a need in the other 20%,
What do you dislike about the product?
Confluence does have a few pain points. First, it probably requires a consultant or expert to get it configured properly for your workflow. Additionally, while it's a solid solution for about 80% of your needs, it falls quite short in many areas. There are plugins available to address many of these needs, but quality varies greatly and pricing is often out of line relative to the value of the plugin (especially at an enterprise licensing level). Confluence also has their own flavor of markup, who knows why they didn't just go with markdown. (Of course, there is a plugin for this.) Unfortunately, despite all of it's flaws, Confluence is probably the best solution out there - especially if you are a JIRA shop. I wish they cared more about delighting users with an amazing user experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a ~350 person company with two SaaS products, and use JIRA and Confluence in all departments within the company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do your homework and make sure you have an Atlassian expert on staff, or hire a consultant to make sure your instance is set up optimally. Fixing these issues after you have found your mistakes is very painful.

Confluence review

  • January 13, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Attaching document and screen shots so that they appear in the form of a web page.
What do you dislike about the product?
The test editor in confluence is not as robust when it comes to font sizes and styles. Like MS Word better for text editing. But again I don't expect confluence to be Word.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing documents and information within the team.

We use Confluence as our internal WIKI

  • January 13, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to write and focus on the writing instead of formatting.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the widgets that allow you to embed diagrams and documents have different methods for inserting that item - some of them the item has to already exist in the other product and other the item has to be created from the widget itself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use this tool to make communications among the team easier.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Prior to using Confluence we saved documents in various shared folders and lots of our knowledge became scattered. Confluence has helped us organize ourselves so that it is much easier to discover the information we need to be successful
