Confluence for internal collaboration

  • January 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The confluence web app has a great interface for collaborating efficiently with the team members. I particularly like the tagging feature to notify team members to take action.
What do you dislike about the product?
Being a web app, it can sometimes feel slow and sluggish. WYSIWIG editors never feel native enough for me, but that's a personal preference.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking projects and conversations via email was hectic. Confluence puts all the assets for a project in one central location.

Collaborative Document Repository

  • January 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a great place to store and collaborate with your coworkers on documentation. I find that it is a great way to organize documents by project. When working on a particular project all relevant documentation that is created is stored in a project hierarchy and I can collaborate with my coworkers on the documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the search functionality could use some improvement. It feels like the search sometimes weighs certain factors higher than simply the text I have inputted matching something in a document. I also find that many of the features are available with Google Drive at no cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When working with software documentation is a vital part of the process. Confluence not only stores the documents for you but also allows multiple people to collaborate on the documents and keep revisions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Like many other tools you will get out what you put in. Sometimes the documentation in Confluence can get unruly and stale which makes this tool useless. Also, some of the features are found in Google Drive.

    Higher Education

Can be challenging for new users, but overall an effective communication tool.

What do you like best about the product?
Once you figure out how to use it, it's a great way for tracking meeting notes and next-step lists. If you've missed a meeting, it's incredibly helpful in catching up.

I also like the recommendations that Confluence gives -- I felt well-connected to other committees and groups whose work affected mine indirectly. It's nice to be aware of what other groups are working on.
What do you dislike about the product?
The steep learning curve was a bit intimidating! It took me a while to learn how to navigate it, and I wanted to give up a few times. But, once you get the hang of it, it's great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping meeting notes organized and continuing post-meeting conversations. It cuts down on unnecessary email a LOT, because we can pitch ideas back and forth without cluttering up inboxes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Get as many tutorials as you can -- don't try to jump in by yourself all at once. I found it helpful to sit down with an experienced user and have them walk me through the features.

Amazing Project Management Tool

  • January 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of assigning new tasks to other individuals
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no notification reminder to finish tasks. At times, tasks are left unfinished because of it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting projects completed which involve several team members. With the more members involved in a project, the more likely there will be holes in communication. However, Confluences helps with keeping communication, comments, and tasks responsibilities strong.

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is fairly easy to understand, and is a great place to allow for real-time updates and tracking.
What do you dislike about the product?
Charts don't allow for formulas, which limits what I can use them for, plus, the page tends to slow way down when you put a lot of data on it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team needs a secure place to house information that is necessary for our team or company. Confluence is an easy place to store things.

Great for doing user guides

  • January 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that it has a simple interface and easy to use. It has good features like adding documents, links, linking text to content from another page, adding images or videos.
What do you dislike about the product?
As much as I like that is simple sometimes it is TOO plain, there should be more tools regarding placing the images wherever on the page, more color selection for font, adding columns or moving content tables around the page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Doing manuals of processes since it is organized and you can store pages under others to divide by topics for example. The information boxes like ''warning'' or ''important'' are useful when we want the person reading to pay attention to something important while reading the guide. It is easy to update and it sends a notification to everyone when you do it, so employees are always updated with new info at the moment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When deleting pages it should be easier to find the option, to this day I don't know where to do this neither the admin user finds it easy to do so.

What do you dislike about the product?
I have not found anything yet that I don't recommend, but we just started using this last month.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fast, easy to find answers keep our call times down.

A Reliable Place for Documentation

  • January 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a very simple interface that can adapt to be as complex as you would like. Our company has endless processes that require documentation and it handles the workload easily. We also utilize the software to handle sprint planning for our development team. Coupled with JIRA, these two allow most of our company's task to be handled and organized without much intervention needed. A brand new employee can quickly learn the interface and start work fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search feature is a bit archaic. It could use some updating. Often times searching for a single word is the best path. Because of this, it can take some getting used to. However, this is not site breaking. It is easy enough to work around once you have learned more.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation allows training and transparency. As a startup our company is constantly in flux and needs to be able to call upon our documentation and procedures quickly. Again, while using JIRA as well, the software works in tandem to create a very powerful suite. Organization is key to work efficiency and Confluence excels at that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You will use Confluence more than you realize. The more you utilize the software, the more it can benefit you. It may seem overwhelming to document your entire process and workflow, but once you start knocking out the tasks, your Onboarding process and Training process can go so much smoother. A must have for young companies.
