Nice file sharing database with JIRA integration, A bit confusing in execution
What do you like best about the product?
Overall, it is very easy to create and share things between JIRA and Confluence, which is the main way that my company uses it. So long as things are properly set up, you can quickly populate documents in Confluence which directly translate into JIRA issues. Or, if you prefer, you can create issues standalone in JIRA and associate/track them in confluence documents.
So, in short, the best part is the connection betwen JIRA and confluence specifically.

What do you dislike about the product?
The overall interface is a bit overwhelming, specifically concerning the multiple ways to do things and if they all are the same or not. There is also a bit of redundancy with the interface on specific pages - Why do I need to know the current activity on pages other than the dashboard?
I was not the one to set up the system at my company, so maybe this is customize-able, but from a generic user standpoint it is difficult to quickly find what I am looking for.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We implemented JIRA and confluence in order to better track time and manage resources to keep up with a large influx of projects and assignments. It is nice to have things itemized, and to attach issues to an overall project document in Confluence.
We are also using Confluence specifically to help organize project goals and objectives, and associating specific issues in a visual table. It's hand to have this sort of document around.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look up as many tutorials as possible. Also, do not be afraid to just try things. It is easy to undo or delete things done without upsetting the overall structure.
Great tools for documentation
What do you like best about the product?
I've been using Confluence for the past 3 years. Overall, it's a great collaboration tool. It's easy to create new page and it has templates that you can use. It also has Gliffy diagram which I use a lot. It also can link to JIRA easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's nothing much that I dislike. Possibly a better merge tool when there are more than 1 people editing the same page. Also, quick search functionality should have an option to search within the current space instead of the whole thing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documentation made easy
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are many good plugins for Confluence, and if you are using other Atlassian product, Confluence is seamlessly integrated with it.
Great for collaboration
What do you like best about the product?
Our support team uses confluence to put together technical product documentation that my team is able to access easily. Since we do best practice and strategy having access to the more technical documentation and common solutions is very important so that we can provide the best answers ourselves.
What do you dislike about the product?
This may be an internal issue, but we had issues initially with setting up the proper permissions so that my team could access it. Once we figured that out though we were able to use it just fine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cross functional sharing of information.
Powerful Tools, Moderate Learning Curve
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence provides a wide variety of tools, customization, and scalability that makes it extremely powerful as a tool for archiving, reporting, and documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
The wide variety of tools and features does present some measure of a learning curve for many users, and the emphasis on functionality also means that making the platform attractive often falls on users to set up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily use Confluence as a tool for internal documentation of my responsibilities and workflows. It makes training other team members and taking on new responsibilities very simple.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure to read Atlassian's training documentation, watch some videos, and stay in direct contact with your admin who can help you build custom solutions when needed.
Confluence review
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a nice addon next to Jira where we keep all documentation
What do you dislike about the product?
interface is a bit outdated and could do with a refresh.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
all of our documentation and procedures in one place and easily searchable
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great add on if you already use Jira and i would highly recommend
Great for discovery, mediocre experience creating
What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Confluence is, when you are mindful of your information architecture, a great way to share information - HowTos, Process, Project Updates, etc.
The way the wiki is setup makes it prime for Discovery. You may easily find articles you are looking for through search or browsing.
Confluence is rarely down and nearly always acts as expected

What do you dislike about the product?
When it comes to document creation, Confluence is so-so. Compared to an editor like Google Docs, Confluence feels clumsy and slow. I should use Confluence for all of my documentation but find myself doing some in Google Docs because of how easy the UI is to make content.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need a place to get everyone on the same page. A knowledge center, a place to document process and much more. With Confluence, we are able to share this information effectively and therefore more employees are following the processes we've set out to implement. Having less siloed knowledge has also improved with Confluence.
New to Confluence, loving it so far
What do you like best about the product?
Having all of our documentation all in one central location really helps the team function more efficiently. We're not duplicating work anymore, and can get to important things whenever we need.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the editing tools are lacking. It doesn't take formatting well from a Word document. It makes putting in some older documentation we have kind of a pain.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had no repository for institutional knowledge. Now that we do we can all get the information we need, and stop duplicating work. We also can set soft procedures by documenting them in Confluence. Now everyone has one place to look for how to do things.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to structure it so that things are easy to find. Having to dig through menus to find something is really a pain
Mostly a read-only user
What do you like best about the product?
It's a great place that allows our whole organization of 1000+ to keep connected cross-teams. It's been universally adopted and has been a huge upgrade to our microsoft intranet page.
What do you dislike about the product?
I honestly don't have any big dislikes, as I'm not necessarily a super user, I just go on to find out information that other teams have posted for global consumption
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As mentioned in my likes, the biggest problem is enterprise access to data. With each team having their own page it makes finding information easy.
Update made platform much more user-friendly
What do you like best about the product?
The site space on the left make navigating the platform much easier
What do you dislike about the product?
We haven't fully built out the site spaces yet, so to find a specific article we have to mostly use the search function
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence specifically stores our articles that share how users can solve a specific problem (connecting to a wireless printer, intro to technology, racial & ethnic harassment policy, etc
Recommendations to others considering the product:

Confluence is great for sharing knowledge.
What do you like best about the product?
The application is easy to use. Organizing data in a meaningful and useful way is a simple task.
What do you dislike about the product?
We sometimes write articles in Google Docs prior to adding them to Confluence. There are some formatting issues that arise because of this, such as complex ordered lists losing their format when pictures are involved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence makes it extremely easy for my team to share internal information about our product. The search feature works well, especially when tagging articles.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Write your articles natively in confluence. It is not recommended to write them elsewhere and import.
