Useful Reference Tool for the Office

  • April 28, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Confluence provides an easy reference tool for offices. I am able to quickly upload documents to Confluence and then automatically update colleagues about the new information available. I think it provides a quick a convenient reference guide for people so they can "self-help" rather than asking the same questions directly to me repeatedly.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can sometimes take a little too long to find the exact page or resource that you are looking for - there is still not quite a perfect "table of contents" feature - so I often scroll through larger subheadings until I can find what I need. IT's not a big deal - but it could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence helps you disseminate and share information in an easy way - and provides an encyclopedia of knowledge for the whole office. It allows companies to have a one-stop source for all general/team information that people may need thereby reducing the need to email people directly (i.e. HR staff) repeatedly with the same information request.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think it gives offices a great tool to share information efficiently. Really helpful in medium to large offices as a resource for employees to consult - like a handbook - but for any and all office procedures from HR to "how to's" to an office directory. Very helpful tool to consolidate and disseminate information

An effective way to communicate

  • April 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Confluence allows you to work in tandem with JIRA to communicate across teams in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have much to say about disliking it. I haven't encountered many issues so far to speak to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our business has been able to solve the problem of document storage with Confluence. Keeping files stored here that are accessible to other teams working on the same project saves the extra step I'd normally take.

Confluence is cool

  • April 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We are able to collaborate effectively, especially with our developers, and have the ability to create functional team "spaces". Organize information hierarchically.
What do you dislike about the product?
The other Atlassian tools are a bit more cool, e.g., JIRA, Wiki, and HipChat.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project prioritization
Team collaboration
Meeting notes

Great collaboration tool especially mixed with Jira

  • April 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence has a very easy learning curve to get started. The mechanics are straightforward - create & edit pages, add content, publish, enable comments, etc. That means you get good early adoption. There's a lot of power as you use more advanced features as well, such as macros, layouts, and more.
What do you dislike about the product?
The process for creating macros and blueprints is too complex even for power users. You end up needing coders and developers to do simple logic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great for platform documentation, project workspaces, and integrating reports / information with Jira. The ease of use makes it great for bringing in new users quickly and not having to run them through a lot of training or orientation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great fit if you have other Atlassian tools. Think of this as part of your overall project toolbox. Likely not enough for most use cases standalone.

Confluence allows for institutional knowledge

  • April 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence really allowed for us to document and empower others to pick up other projects. Especially in a start up or fast paced work environment, it's important to have documentation to build institutional knowledge. I also appreciate the seamless integration with Jira and other Atlassian products.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the formatting is clunky in Confluence. It can feel like an old school Livejournal where you have to scratch your head on HTML.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving problems of documentation, plotting out next steps, project management, communication across departments, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
NA. I wasn't involved in the conversations about purchasing or support. As a user, it's helpful.

Use

  • April 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's user-friendly and easy to navigate. Easy to edit the personal page. the functions pretty easy to edit. There is a lot of online documentation on how to use it, what you can edit, and how to manipulate certain pages. The admistration is easy as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
I administration could be a lot more refined and also the setting of the security of the pages. also when setting up the groups and users it could be better by linking the security to a lower level. Multi page security is difficult for certain users. Can not just copy and paste grids in from excel. The grids are hard to copy the content to another grid if they are not the same.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it for documents storage, documentation, knowledge base, how to, version control l, project status, archiving misc documents, and communication on status.

Very friendly way to edit and keep documents organized

  • April 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the easiness to edit and organize documents in a hierarchal structure. Documents look nice and professional. The ability to create templates is also very useful. Love collaborative editing and interconnectability with JIRA .
What do you dislike about the product?
Although editing is easy, options are limited when comparing to other tools such as Word. When integrating with JIRA, it doesn't allow to map customized table columns to JIRA issue fields. To see the edit or share options when viewing a page, I need to scroll up first. Sometimes it's not easy to find documents.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence is a repository for technical documentation, meetings notes, etc. It allows to keep all our documents organized in a place. Because it's easy to learn and use, everyone can use Confluence.

Huge potential but a challenge to become proficient with.

  • April 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how robust the tool is and the things that can be accomplished by tracking and collaborating with others inside Confluence.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how it feels like I have to relearn the tool every time I get into Confluence.

Tracking and communicating project progress, challenges, and decisions. This is a central place to store the information that tends to get overlooked in emails.

What do you like best about the product?
The functionality itself is great. The notifications out of the gate are well configured.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a little overcomplicated and the workflow isn't extremely logical at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team collaboration and resolving projects that may not fall under a specific team's umbrella.
