Easy to use and create Knowledge Base
What do you like best about the product?
The layout of the articles is very end user friendly. The search is easy and intuitive for both IT staff and end users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Any additional customization requires paid add-ons. If you don't need a complete review process then this works well out of the box. Any desire for approvals, review management workflow or annual review will require additional add-ons.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Technical documentation and end user knowledge base articles.
Powerful but many annoyances
What do you like best about the product?
We can have separate spaces for each team. Articles can have comments, and the Q&A system is good to have.
What do you dislike about the product?
Search is a pain. The more questions are asked in Q&A, the more difficult it becomes to find what you want, because it seems like questions are prioritized over stable doc pages. Search seems to default to "or" so searching for "product feature" will show you every article related to either "product" or "feature."
Because of this, it feels necessary to constantly prune questions or articles from Confluence, which is pushing us toward a new Q&A system so that we can more selectively bring over information.
The text editor is not good. It's annoying trying to make a document, and collaboration is bad as well. Some key combinations don't work as expected, like CMD+Delete (on a Mac) will erase a single character instead of the whole line.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We keep SOPs in Confluence. We have a single article we use for a daily department update, since adding to the top of a page will send an email notice to anyone watching the page. We've pushed internal questions from Slack channels to the Q&A component of Confluence, but again this is starting to make it harder to find the permanent, curated articles.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're getting it with JIRA, it's fine. If you're looking specifically at Confluence, I'd recommend seeing if you can create your own stack of other apps. Sometimes Confluence's multiple features get in their own way, and I'd prefer to have questions and curated articles in different places (or at least different search results)
The brain of our company
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence hosts all of our meeting notes, a Lexicon, and how-to's and process lists for our entire company across departments. I like that you can restrict access to some pages and specific users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Confluence sometimes loses our updates and that can be very frustrating. Sometimes the live updating with multiple users can be very confusing if you publish too early.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Documents are much easier to find in Confluence than previously in Dropbox. Increased transparency. More informed about other departments.
A great technical wiki platform
What do you like best about the product?
The use of "spaces" to organize by top level categories and widgets to expedite layouts for individual pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can get complex in regards to navigation if not setup correctly by space admin
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Storing of technical and project strategy and planning content that does not have a place within Jira issues.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you use Jira it's a no-brainer. If you use another tool for managing projects, Confluence will provide a great platform to store long form content relating to your technical projects.
Best Scrum Management Tool
What do you like best about the product?
I like all integrated features like bugs, scrum stories tasks creations and assigning to the users. You can create your own dashboard and follow them for quick look. you can create Epic, Stories and tasks. you can put them in Slack and drag and drop features of tasks is excellent.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing much to dislike. I wish this would have been little inexpensive for smaller team. more useful template for report and dashboard will useful also.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used this tool extensively for internal project management by following SCRUM model. This tools comes very handy and useful. there were 4 projects where we used it and all users could able to use it without problem.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I do not see lots of light weight competitors of atlassian. People wants to use SCRUM / Agile methodology for project, this product is way to go.
Barely use it
What do you like best about the product?
I guess it is a good space to document what needs to be documented
What do you dislike about the product?
It does not seem to be easy to get to. It might be the way our company is using it. It feels like there are too many steps to take to get to it. I almost think I could get the same usage done with google docs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The writers on my team like to use it to document feature details which I as a software engineer never spend my time there.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Commit to use it.
Confluence is a great tool to use to track productivity and documentation
What do you like best about the product?
We use confluence for documentation as well as a workflow for engineering. It's easy to use and allows for collaboration.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting/Exporting isn't the best in JIRA.

Great for collaboration, terrible for formatting
What do you like best about the product?
I have built an entire database of all of the resources my department uses and it is going to be a great resource to employees. The use of links, Macros and navigation is great. Next week is when everyone will begin to use it and I am excited for the collaboration to come so we can put everything in one place. I think Confluence is great for a development team, to keep status of issues that come up and keep everyone on a timeline for when items must be completed. I also think it is great because you get to start with a blank slate and you can create whatever you want.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing I HATE about it is the formatting is terrible. Whenever I want to change the size of a header vs. paragraph, I could hit 1 button and everything I just worked on for an hour could completely change and I am left back where I started. If this could be improved, Confluence would be way more seamless than it already is. This has taken the most time out of anything when building out our center's Confluence, which caused a delay in the roll-out. Also when troubleshooting, the feedback board always seems to end with a problem that was never completely resolved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration and a database that works with other resources and formats.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't worry about how things look, just what data is contained
Good for guides and information sharing within a company
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to find important company info, post guides, and share information internally
What do you dislike about the product?
UI seems dated, and the site isn't as intuitive as it could be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Availability of self-service information, and a centralized place to store guides and internal information about systems, projects, and the organization as a whole.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It gets the job done.
