Asynchronous communication for win
What do you like best about the product?
Inline comments are amazing, they are a great collaborative tool for many teammates review and share thought in pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes is not so easy to find the best edit solution for a given task on Confluence. I expected more intuitive flow and interface, to not have "to think a lot" to figure out how to use it properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Definitely Confluence has a strong advantage in asynchronous communication. My company's employers use pages to add information and share among the teams to comment, discussing and exchange ideas. This kind of communication saves a lot time avoiding wasting time with meetings, mainly for remote teams/people.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In my opinion, it is worth the investment acquiring Confluence if your team uses its collaborative tools, like page comments, inline comments, e-mail alerts and integrations. If you want only a place to store information (pages), without team interaction, you will not use all Confluence power and maybe it is not the best choice for your need.
Confluence Review
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to comment and watch a document or issue. I like that Confluence is integrated with JIRA and HipChat. It is very well organized for documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found anything to dislike yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing documentation in one place that is easily searchable with the ability to integrate JIRA and HipChat for adding to or discussing issues.
Very useful content sharing tool
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to share with various groups and people alike to share content and seek opinions
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much not to like about this tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sharing various documents like opinion polls and roadmap sharing and updating to track project planning.
Good if you are using the atlassion package
What do you like best about the product?
I find it good complementary offer to Jira
What do you dislike about the product?
It's too complex and too geeky. There are plenty of other tools that can deliver the job easier
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Product Documentation, workflows, onboarding materials
Great Documentation and Collaboration Platform
What do you like best about the product?
This software allows you to collaborate on documentation and set tasks or "watch" documents that get updated. You can also allow anonymous access to pages that you decide in order to give visibility to other areas of the company where a license might not be needed or make sense.
What do you dislike about the product?
I am not a huge fan of the user interface as it seems a bit boring. The core features are great but sometimes you'll need to buy a third party plugin (example: workflow)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving our documentation problem. With this system we hope to capture each area's servers, processes, and training. This system provides a wiki-like platform where you can collaborate on pages in real-time like Google Docs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Sign up for the trial in the cloud. It's quick and costs nothing. It can be overwhelming at first to wrap your head around so I would suggest reading the documentation first.
Learning curve, but worth it
What do you like best about the product?
Integration with JIRA - if you're an Atlassian shop, it only make sense to add Confluence to your workflow. It's best for documenting team communication.
What do you dislike about the product?
File structure is severely lacking. It's hard to find documents that you place in there, even with a well-documented plan.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team communication is documented in a place that everyone can see. We can share files with versioning and provide notes.
Excellent place for project documentation and team dashboards
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use and very robust gadgets you can use out of the box. Easy to publish the page after you have made updates. Easy to access in combination with JIRA software.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not able to allow all company members to access it unless they have a specific license, used to be able to have view only access as long as you had a JIRA license.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Central location for important documentation.
Great tool for collaboration and managing projects.
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to multitask within an online environment in a seamless application. This created a streamlined advantage when collaborating with our team across the nation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Learning curve can be somewhat high starting out. Managing multiple tasks and risk of duplication was frequent within the company. This can be a cause of the learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were solving/benefiting through peer review and organization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are multiple ways to manage tickets within Confluence. Making sure to remove duplicate tickets and email directly within the application and help with referencing specific work items.
Lots of options, needs learning curve
What do you like best about the product?
There are options to do just about anything you need. It's a nice place to store collective knowledge. I like that you can upload documents or just type the info right into the site. I guess, that's mostly it, there are a lot of features.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a lot to learn and it can be daunting. Also, it is a little hard to hyperlink things in the text of the page you are making. The calendars are annoying and there should be a better way to stop watching them. Overall I think the calendars function could use some work. Everything is "pretty" from a user perspective, but actually using some of the functions it is capable of becomes difficult.
