A complete solution for global brands

  • May 14, 2022

What do you like best about the product?
Crowdin's functionality is so useful because it covers many needs of developers, managers, and translators alike. Such a system is a must for anyone serious about localization.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my opinion, the different price tiers are fair, but I would love to have access to some discounts every once and then.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Crowdin automates pretty much every step in my company's localization cycle. We save on development time, and QA and ensure that our product is available for our global audience.

A great tool for localization, it's both flexible and powerful

What do you like best about the product?
I like most things about Crowdin. All the automation options, the fact that I can upload screenshots and have it automatically detect my strings, the glossary... but what sold us on it was its GitLab integration. Now some of our developers have decided to use CLI instead, but that also worked out well, it's a quite flexible tool. Another thing I really like is the fact that the support team is always so open and helpful. This made our transition to Crowdin much smoother than it would've been otherwise. And it really is powerful, I don't think we're fully taking advantage of everything it offers yet.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some things in the UI could be improved, sure. I would also like to be able to set developer permissions, so I can invite developers to set up an integration in a project I'm managing. It would also be nice if someone other than the developer who created the GitLab integration could edit it, because sometimes people leave and then it's a bit of a hassle if you need to make changes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Thanks to Crowdin, our translations are much more consistent, since we can take advantage of both the TM and the glossary to let translators know how they should translate certain terms or expressions. Our translation process has become more efficient and keeps improving. Now we're even considering implementing true continuous localization :)

A valuable asset for growing global businesses

What do you like best about the product?
- Great UI (interface).
- Love the customer service team. Incredibly helpful and quick to respond.
- Plenty of integrations, Github is especially useful to us.
- Figma integration will help us become more agile soon.
- Search through our website's copy super quickly! Very powerful.
What do you dislike about the product?
- The concept of Machine Translation is genius, but could do with some more work to be improved. I think there could be a way to have the ML (machine learning) take our preferred style of writing to select the best option. For example, French has formal and informal writing styles, we may choose informal and want to be consistent with that throughout.
- Tone of Voice and Brand-specific language autocorrections/suggestions. It would be great for Crowdin to have a way to have certain words translated the same way even in a sentence. So we have a word "Kit" that we want translated in every scenario the same way, even if the sentence around it is different (obviously ensuring it reads well still).
- Contentful plugin was a no-go, we couldn't get it to work. I did try to work with Customer Support to achieve this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- A consistent experience for our translators.
- Being able to have one place to house most copy, search and see what style of translations are used commonly.
- We can better collaborate with external and internal translators and keep some consistency with tone of voice. (Though still some challenges there).

Good once you've onboarded, but the UX is a bit finicky

  • April 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Since migrating to Crowdin, I've received requests from multiple people to add their contributions. The UX for translators is better than github/yaml.
The github integration works well, though editing the source strings using it seems to sometimes remove existing translations when I didn't want it to.
What do you dislike about the product?
Onboarding was extremely painful, and I had to completely change how the translations were stored to get them to recognise the existing languages I had.
The automatic language detection didn't work for any language I had except for French where it recognised about half the files. There also wasn't a button to apply the same language to all uploaded files, which is a pain if you have lots of them.
Editing source strings in my file format (yaml) also isn't supported.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I'm working on crowdsourcing the translation of my project.
Crowdin has helped my translators easily find where I've edited strings, and provide updates without me having to tell them what I've changed.

Exceptional support and a great user interface

  • April 19, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
A smooth user interface, easy integration with our existing projects, and truly exceptional support from their customer success team. When we have a question, they are ready with the answer promptly and effectively.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to dislike in the whole experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are simplifying the process of allowing community members to easily submit translations in their native languages. Previously they had to clone the git repository, make the changes, and submit the pull request. They will use a web interface now and will have easy access to machine translation suggestions and the translation work of others who preceded them.

All you need in one place

What do you like best about the product?
Crowdin is very complete and offers a lot of useful features.
We are using it for a while now and are very pleased to see how well it's working with our translator Alconost.
What do you dislike about the product?
Due to a large number of features, the interface could be quite hard to deal with from time to time.
Also, the pricing could be quite expensive if you are having a large project and want to translate it into many languages.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Crowdin is useful for us to offer translations on our website and application. It's always better for SEO and user experience to have native customer language supported!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Check the export compatibility with your software and double-check the pricing (number of words * number of languages in the project).

Integration with Crowdin localized our knowledge base

  • April 04, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Allows for integration with another platform (WixAnswers) in order to automatically deliver strings to get localized and then sync back. The back and forth process is pretty seamless once the initial integration is done.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit of a cumbersome process to get started, with no real set of instructions I had to figure it all out myself and it was a lot of trial and error. Now that we have it working, it's more seamless now, though sometimes our articles fail to sync and I have to go back and troubleshoot why.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have an online knowledge base with over 75 individual articles that we needed to localize into 13 languages. That platform didn't have any localization services built-in, but did have a seamless integration with Crowdin.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Crowdin has a lot more functionality than we use it for. However, to easily localize text using machine learning, such as Google or Amazon, it works pretty well.

Crowdin is both an awesome support team and an easy-to-use yet powerful tool

  • March 30, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Crowdin is very easy to use. It also has plenty of features, each of them heavily documented.

When you can't find the documentation you need, the support team is just a click away. They answer immediately by chatting with you until they solve your problem. If they really can't solve it immediately, they will tell you and come back to you quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Frankly, I'm very happy with Crowdin and can't find much to complain about. The website could be a little bit faster and the UI/UX for translators could be a bit more modern.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before, we were handling translations in a very large XLS file. The more languages we started supporting, the harder it became: we had to send the file to many people and wait for them to send their translations. Until a point where it became unmanageable. Also, any change to the XLS file would require a release of our product.

Life has completely changed since we switch to Crowdin:
- translators can translate whenever they want through the simple Crowdin UI (this UI contains a chat so translators and reviewers can discuss/approve);
- a script downloads translations from Crowdin and push them to our database every night so translators don't have to wait for the next release;
- everything happens automatically so our team can focus on more important stuff.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Your project must be ready for internationalization which takes some time to implement. This isn't specific to Crowdin though.

Great website to manage all your translations of your applications

  • March 30, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a developer, I like the fact that you have a lot of ways to integrate with Crowdin. We for example use the bitbucket integration, when a new label is added to our code it is automatically synced with Crowdin. When you change a label, Crowdin also recognizes this and lets the translators look at it. The other way around it is also working. When a label is translated it automatically creates a pull request on bitbucket that we can just merge.
What do you dislike about the product?
The first time when setting it up it can be a bit hard to configure it correctly. It's some trial and error but whenever you have a question the support team is really fast to help you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before we used Crowdin we had a big problem in knowing what labels still needed translations. Also when a label changed it was not clear in the other languages that it also needed to change. Crowdin solves all this for us.

Great tool to help with our localization

  • March 29, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the UI interface and the features it gives to help translators produce quality translations quickly. It's really easy to provide context and comments about the translations and attach screenshots. The built-in QA tools are great - They highlight possible errors in translations: e.g. It informs you if the source phrase has brackets, but the provided translation doesn't. Also, the UI will highlight variables in the source string that should not be translated! Many great features in Crowdin!
What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like a little more customization for the folder structure with manual build downloads. It would be nice to be able to generate builds organized by folders then language/locale to help with some manual file management we need to do in some of our repos.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has saved us time for the entire localization process and made managing localization files much easier for developers.
