What do you like best about the product?
Our whole team can easily write translations and integrate them in our projects. When I was stuck with something, someone was there to quickly help me out and provide a solution.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI of the online tool can sometimes be a little much/confusing.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This tool makes it easy for developers and translators/copywriters to work together on providing translations for a project.

Absolutely positive

What do you like best about the product?
We have been using Crowdin for 4 years so far for continuous localization of our app and web services. I enjoy the interface and super friendly and helpful support team. They are literary the best and are ready to help you with any question anytime. Love the fact that it's super customizable to your needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
I'm not sure if it's on our side or not. Still, we've been experiencing some problems with Android platform and Crowdin - perhaps, due to security reasons our developers are unable to push strings from the branches to dev folder - as a result many mistakes occur.
Nevertheless, the Support team helped figure this out and build a process for the Android project.
Also, I was unable to make Figma plugin work - though this functionality seems very helpful if you work with mock-ups a lot. And lastly, there seems to be a mismatch when you try to upload a TB from another CAT tool. It simply doesn't allow you to do so (or, perhaps, it only happens with TBs from SmartCAT)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
All strings of the app and website are stored & translated there.

Crowdin Through the Lens of our company: Enhancing Translations with Technology

  • February 08, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Crowdin has brought us numerous benefits, among which the most significant include:

• Third-party Integrations: Crowdin's seamless integration with tools such as Zendesk, Bitbucket, and GitHub has significantly simplified our workflow. These integrations are user-friendly, allowing even members of our team without a technical background to handle them effortlessly.

• Intuitive User Interface: Compared to other CAT systems, Crowdin's GUI is straightforward and easy to understand, which significantly reduces the learning curve.

• Automated Workflows: The ability to set up automated translation processes, including machine or AI-powered translations, is a critical advantage that speeds up the availability of translations.

• Granular User Structure: Crowdin enables us to assign specific groups or teams to particular projects, simplifying project management and assignments.

• Excellent Support: The customer support is outstanding, with response times of less than 24 hours. The quality of support and the provision of necessary information are almost always guaranteed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Despite the many advantages, there are some areas where Crowdin could still be improved:

• Granular Permissions: Although the detailed permission settings are useful, there are limitations in assigning roles. For example, it's not possible to make translators into project members.

• Global Communication Function: A missing feature is the ability to communicate with users on a global level, e.g., to directly address people with specific criteria.

• Implementation of Feature Requests: Some of our feature requests have been pending for a considerable time without information on when they will be implemented. Additionally, support for certain functions, like the Translation Companion for integration into Zendesk, has been discontinued, which represents a step back for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Crowdin has significantly improved and simplified our translation processes. The platform effectively supports us in engaging our global community members and delivering high-quality translations faster. For teams and companies looking to streamline their translation processes, Crowdin offers a robust, user-friendly solution. We look forward to continuing to grow with Crowdin and making our content accessible worldwide to our gaming community.

A delightful experience for translators, project administrators since 10 years - a game changer!

  • February 07, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use Crowdin for translating our open-source project (GDevelop), and we've doing it for 10 years! It has been a life changer for our project and for translators.

The interface is clear, easy to use and a new translator can get started very quickly - which is very important for us. The "proofreader" role allows us to set the best translator as proofreader so they can review existing translations.

Thanks to Crowdin API and command line tools, we automatically get new translations into our software without manual intervention. This means our community can take part into the translation work, without technical knowledge required for translators, and have their translations included in the software in a few days or hours.
Customer support is also extremely fast (our last question got answered in <20 minutes).
We also from time ordered paid translations from professional translators directly from Crowdin - the integration is super easy and 100% handled by Crowdin.

Thanks to Crowdin, we have community made translations for more than 30 languages, including 10 languages with almost 100% translation completion. This result is impressive and the Crowdin platform is important in this success.
What do you dislike about the product?
A way to automatically promote the best translators into proofreaders would be great.
Sometimes it's hard to see when bad quality translations have been added (there are QA checks, but a "health indicator" would be maybe more useful - we have a LOT of source strings and languages so we can't check everything).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Getting our app translated into 30 languages thanks to our community translators as well as professional translators.

Good developer experience and fantastic customer support

  • February 06, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The customer support offered is best in class. I've had numerous interactions with Crowdin's support over the last few years, and every interaction has been fantastic.

Crowdin's API is solid as well. We integrate with it both locally on the machines of our developers, as well as in our pipelines. And so far no complaints.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface could be a bit more modern and user friendly. Also the navigation structure can take some time to get used to for new users. I've grown used to it over time, but I've onboarded many developers and they always need some pointers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We localize our products in all our focus markets, and Crowdin is handling translation for all of this.

Interesting potential but not up to industry standards

  • February 05, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Integrations with repositories and workflow automations
What do you dislike about the product?
It should improve the cooperation and role assignment. For example, if you are not the Owner of the account, you do not have access to all features. They should also improve the translation of other formats, such as images and In Design manuals. Tags could be also improved to show placeholders to remove mistakes. I have noticed that SDL Trados and MemoQ process simple HTML and XML better, while in Crowdin strings are "dirty" with code.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows the company to have all translations in one place.

Great Crowd-Sourced translation platform

  • January 30, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The organisation I get to work for has translators around the world - a crowd, if you will. They get to log in at any time, translate, review and approve strings, using the benefit of suggestions from translation memory.
As I get to manage projects every day, I really like that we can share translation memory across different projects, and run it to fill in strings that were used previously and need to be used again.
Adding screenshots to our strings is super helpful as we work virtually and don't get on phone/video calls with our volunteers worldwide to verbally explain to them were and in which context strings will be published in our mobile apps or on the web.
At-mentioning contributors in a string that triggers an email so they can find the string in question with a click saves a lot of time.
Customer support is superb!
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great to see if someone else is working on a string that I am about to work on. We've also seen that some browsers can get pretty slow in our biggest projct, so it takes longer than expected to see strings saved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've been using Crowdin daily for 6-7 years, and have been able to localized several apps and our web with translators from around the world with a translation platform that can be used 24/7.

CrowdIn Review

  • January 27, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love CrowdIn as a product - easy to use and it just works. It supports variety of translation formats and translation flows, the UI is clean and encouraging and it is simple to understand - even if you are just an integrator without expertise in translations.
CrowdIn has good integration with GitLab and GitHub, which allowed us to automate everything as a part of CI/CD pipeline.
We did not have to use the customer support - the interface is mostly self-explanatory (with the exception of synchronization settings). We were able to migrate from our legacy, self-hosted solution in a matter of hours.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like the fact that pricing is based on the number of managers on top of translated words. As with any similar pricing model, it makes it less flexible, either forces you to spend time managing your accounts, or bite the bullet and overspent.
I prefer SaaS products where pricing is a only function of value they bring, charging for seats feels artificial and unfair.

Overall UX is great, except for setting up the integration with GitHub - configuring branches and synchronization is unintutive, it takes a while to understand how to set it up correctly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Localization is a minor activity for our product, we use it only for selected end-user facing features. We need a solution that is easy to understand and "just works", without brininging additional complexity or maintenance. Crowdin is prefectly fullfiling these needs, saving time of our engineers.

Amazing integrations systems

  • January 26, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Crowdin is one of the best tool for integrations with the client's sistems.
We have implemented CLI and the client is able to push and pull translations with just a few clicks.
Customer support has been amazing in helping both the client and us (LSP) in creating the integration and meeting our needs of project managers and number of words hostes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Each project needs to be set up individually and there's no possibility to update the same information in batches.
Adding members to the projects can take a bit of time but once it is done you're ready to go
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The client needed to streamline their translation process and with the CLI integration they can do that with just few clicks and receive translation with less work both on the devs and project manager's work.

Makes localisation so much easier to manage.

  • January 26, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We have been using CrowdIn for 4 or 5 years now, and it has made our localisation process so much easier to manager as an ongoing concern. It's very easy to add new translators or proofreaders, to ringfence them into a subset of languages, and to review and approve their translations. The process for exporting is also very simple, and has made our overall process of localisation at least twice as fast as it was before.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to add a new language, but that is partially because we have a custom build output. Also, it is not clear if it is possible to remove a contributor from a project without removing their contributions as well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to using CrowdIn, we had no solid structure for managing translations. We had resorted to using spreadsheets (as other devs we have spoken to seem to do), but these are not ideal. Not only was it difficult to filter languages, but there was no accountability. It was too easy to edit something erroneously, and you would have no idea until a user pointed it out. With CrowdIn, translations need to be approved and a history is kept of all translations for a given string as well as who approved it.
The screenshot feature is excellent. After adding a source string, you can upload a screenshot showing how the text is used in-game. CrowdIn has a great tool which allows you to select a section of text from the screenshot, and it will automatically work out which string this matches. This makes it very quick and easy to add clear visual context for each string.
On a separate note - any time we have needed to contact CrowdIn for support (which is not very often as they tend to have addressed issues before we run into them), they have always been quick to respond and have either pointed me to an existing solution or made changes at their end to fix my issue.
