Astronomer review rom DS/DE
What do you like best about the product?
Astronomer has been easy to use and removes the burden of managing complex dependencies. We completed a hosted migration with their team, and they were extremely supportive throughout the process. We’ve relied on it for our mission-critical data engineering and data science pipelines and it has run reliably without issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a very good product. There is not much to dislike about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- Solving dependecy management for Airflow
- Hassle-free hosting of big data pipelines on GCP using dbt
- Integration with Slack for error alerting

BI software Engineer since last 10 year, works on snowflake, dbt, airflow
What do you like best about the product?
The platform offers straightforward code deployment and provides managed Airflow, making it convenient to set up and maintain workflows.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is quite high, but it does save a significant amount of time when setting up Airflow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing the cloud server for the Airflow backend is very straightforward.
User-Friendly Tool for Automating Data Pipelines
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate that Astro by Astronomer automates data pipelines end-to-end, from extracting and transforming data to loading it into data warehouses and lakes. The software is user-friendly and abstracts the infrastructure setup, scaling, and sometimes even maintenance, making it easier to handle complex tasks without much hassle.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see some forward deployed engineers to improve the service experience.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use the product to automate data pipelines, easing infrastructure setup and scaling, which makes it user-friendly and efficient.
My experience with Astronomer has been really great.
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how Astronomer is a great tool that gives me a lot of time back with helping with data orchestration and seamless processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I wish that Astronomer would be more intuitive and less memory intensive. Especially with starting up local instances. And better documentation for when things go awry. Also sometimes with deployments I wish that the support team was more useful with helping debug.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Astronomer to help give me a lot of time back in my day to day. I use it to help orchestrate tasks and workflows, especially when I use the DAGs. It helps automate a lot of menial processes that would otherwise take hours or even the full day.
Ease in process automation
What do you like best about the product?
It is a fully managed service that eliminates the need to manage infrastructure, providing significant improvements in the performance and execution speed of pipelines. This allows for a greater focus on business logic, without the concern of managing infrastructure.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve can be a bit steep for beginners, requiring some time to adapt until they feel comfortable using the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Process automation. With Astronomer, I can create ETLs, alert systems, execute machine learning models, and meet other business needs as if they were jobs. This allows me to focus my attention on other activities.
Very pleasant and easy going
What do you like best about the product?
Management of the deployments and in general the documentation
What do you dislike about the product?
The DAGs view from the Astro website. I prefer to jump directly into the Airflow deployment to find the DAGs that I want
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows to manage our Airflow deployments easily and also the documentation is really good. Additionally, I love the setup for testing it locally.
A powerful and user-friendly platform for data workflows
What do you like best about the product?
I really like how easy it's to use, even for complex workflows. The variety of operators makes it possible to handle almost any task, which saves a lot of time. The cost-to-benefit ratio is excellent, especially considering how much effort it reduces in managing pipelines. The UI is intuitive, scaling is straightforward, and the integration with Airflow gives me confidence in its reliability. It also helps the team collaborate better by making workflows transparent and easy to monitor.
What do you dislike about the product?
Documentation can sometimes feel a bit fragmented, and deeper troubleshooting guidance would be helpful. Some advanced features require extra setup or technical knowledge, which can slow down new users. Pricing can also scale up quickly for larger teams or heavy usage, so better cost visibility would be a plus.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Astro helps me manage complex data pipelines more efficiently and reliably. With multiple integrations available out of the box, it simplifies connecting different data sources and destinations. This reduces the amount of manual work needed and ensures that workflows run consistently at scale. It also improves collaboration across teams, since the pipelines are easier to monitor and maintain. Overall, it saves time, increases productivity, and provides peace of mind that critical data processes are running smoothly.
good design, easy to use
What do you like best about the product?
I think the UI UX is well designed for someone new to understand the product quickly and use it seamlessly
What do you dislike about the product?
When too many jobs are done on a single day at similar times the astronomer may crash
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The basic airflow functionality
Excellent support
What do you like best about the product?
Astronomer has significantly improved how our team manages Airflow. What I appreciate most is the support—they are consistently available to answer our questions and offer practical guidance. Previously, we had to handle our own Airflow instance, which required a lot of preparation, learning, and time for every update. Now, with Astronomer, updates occur more frequently and seamlessly, allowing us to access the latest features without the complexity we faced before.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I don’t like as much is that some features are still not fully supported. For example, Dataline or having an interface to better understand why certain pods are not starting, which can make troubleshooting more challenging in some cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In my case, the latest Airflow use case I’m working on with Astro is building a CI/CD workflow for ML models (MLOps). This includes model validation, integration testing, and deployment, all orchestrated smoothly through Airflow. Astro's managed platform makes it easier to maintain the Airflow instance with continuous updates and solid support, which helps ensure reliability and reduces downtime while I focus on delivering robust ML pipelines in production. This operational simplification benefits productivity and reduces the risk of pipeline failures due to infrastructure issues.
Pretty easy to setup. Support is responsive.
What do you like best about the product?
Great support. Leading the changes in Airflow
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is somewhat high, but I appreciate not having to manage the infrastructure myself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Removes the need to manage airflow infra.
