Streamlined Airflow orchestration with strong observability and support
What do you like best about the product?
Astro by Astronomer makes deploying and scaling Airflow much easier. The managed environment takes care of scheduling, logging, and monitoring with very little setup required. Its integration with CI/CD tools and compatibility with both Kubernetes and cloud-native runtimes help streamline pipeline operations. Customer support and documentation are excellent, making it well-suited for enterprise use.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is less flexibility for custom configuration compared to managing your own Airflow instance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Astro by Astronomer enables us to orchestrate complex data pipelines across multiple sources in a scalable and reliable manner. It significantly reduces the operational overhead of manually managing Airflow clusters and offers deep visibility into DAG performance, scheduling, and failure points. As a result, our data reliability has improved, downtime has decreased, and the delivery of analytics and reporting pipelines has become much faster.

This allows engineers to focus entirely on building data pipelines that drive business value, rather than on maintenance, scaling, or troubleshooting the orchestration system itself.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Astro is a robust platform, it does present some notable drawbacks. Cost is the most frequently cited concern, as the service is considered expensive with a pricing model that lacks transparency, especially when compared to self-hosted solutions. For new users, the tool has a steep learning curve, requiring extra time for adaptation and training. Technically, there are reports of problematic dependencies (particularly with Google services) that lead to time-consuming maintenance, along with occasional bugs and breaking changes that affect system stability. Furthermore, some users feel that the data lineage functionality needs improvement to be more valid and easier to use.

The initial learning curve for the platform's advanced features was steep; a few more introductory tutorial videos would be a huge benefit for new users. This, however, is a small trade-off for the power and flexibility the platform offers.

Astro by Astronomer solves the major operational complexity associated with self-managing Apache Airflow at scale. Specifically, it eliminates the burden of maintaining, securing, and scaling the underlying Airflow infrastructure (schedulers, workers, Kubernetes)

It can be hard to set up and needs some coding knowledge and operator

Astro by Astronomer helps solve problems with managing and scheduling data workflows. It makes it easy to build, monitor, and fix data pipelines. This saves time, reduces errors, and lets me focus more on analyzing data instead of managing systems
Good automation but with a few rough edges
What do you like best about the product?
I like that its managed, and its the best way to get into airflow by far.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not as transparent in terms of pricing, i can host airflow locally myself and save money. They have to work more to support the core features for the enterprise.

Its a highly programmable platform for data pipeline creation.

Astronomer: The best scheduling tool
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the user interface, as well as how easy it is to use and to identify both failures and successes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The integration of the Airflow UI leaves room for improvement. I feel it could be more seamless and user-friendly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scheduling multiple processes has become effortless for me. I am now able to schedule and keep track of anything I need for the project.
Seamless orchestration and reliability for data analytics pipelines!
What do you like best about the product?
Astro makes managing Airflow in our data analytics workflows incredibly smooth. It takes away the pain of infrastructure management, allowing us to focus on building insights instead of firefighting. The UI is clean, monitoring is straightforward, and scaling is effortless. I also appreciate the reliability – critical pipelines just run without constant babysitting. For our team, this has been a huge productivity boost.
What do you dislike about the product?
There’s not much to dislike. Sometimes the learning curve for new team members can be steep because of Airflow concepts, but that’s not really Astro’s fault. If anything, I’d like to see even more built-in templates or best-practice guides for common data analytics use cases.

By running Airflow on Astro, we can easily move and transform data from Redshift into clean, reliable tables that power our dashboards and financial reports. This has made it much faster to build charts and insights that our business leaders rely on. The biggest benefit is consistency and trust in the data — processes run smoothly, without constant maintenance, and we spend more time analyzing results instead of fixing pipelines.

Top class at ease of use, with improvement points
What do you like best about the product?
Getting everything set up and running was a smooth process, thanks in part to the abundance of tutorials available for guidance. Whenever I needed assistance, the customer support team responded promptly and provided valuable help. Features can also be considered quite complete for a scheduling tool. It has also lots of integration with different types of cloud vendors, databases, and third parties.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think stability can be improved further. At times, we experience a small short performance issues, for example Astro API endpoints that went down. I also feel like the support can provide a bit more insights into our environment/deployment setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Astro takes care of the technical infrastructure involved in setting up Airflow, which saves us a significant amount of time. We no longer have to be concerned about software incompatibilities or managing package versions.
