a Good Idea. Postgres + RocksDB, making a Resilient and Scalable Database.
What do you like best about the product?
1st the idea of using postgres-code for the front-end. Which makes migration + learning-curve Easy. 2nd the use of the Raft-Protocol to build a Resilient back-end.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some minor items: The concept of separate master-processes is possibly a downside. Manageing "master lists" via the CLI could/should be automated better. Also, insights into the system could be better if some of the concepts (nodes, masters, tservers, tablets, replicas) were exposed better via SQL. The web-guis are ok, but not the ideal interface for a data-centric system.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is Resilient+Scalable. Yugabyte will also help in geo-replcation of data over multiple regions. And it addresses some of the downsides of PostgreSQL (it fixes vacuum).
Best distributed database
What do you like best about the product?
Yugabyte has helped us develop a scaleable and sustainable application that helps us enhance the performance by leveraging the best of yugabyte, the distributed
What do you dislike about the product?
None, everything works really well on our system, it seems that yugabyte has already built with good design in mind for the customer, i believe it will reach much bigger audiences
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Yugabyte is solving our biggest problem in developing an application, scalability and sustainability, upon implementing yugabyte in our system, our application has received a huge improvement
Its a reliable and scalable distributed SQL database that has greatly simplified data management
What do you like best about the product?
One of the best aspects of YugabyteDB is its ease of use, fault tolerance, scalability and compatibility with popular APIs like PostgreSQL and Cassandra. YugabyteDB its the ability to provide strong consistency guarantees while offering horizontal scalability, enabling developers to build highly available and globally distributed applications without sacrificing data integrity
What do you dislike about the product?
One potential drawback of YugabyteDB is that it may require significant hardware resources to operate optimally, especially in large-scale deployments. This can lead to higher infrastructure costs compared to traditional single-node databases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
YugabyteDB solves the problem of building and managing highly scalable, fault-tolerant, and globally distributed databases. It combines the strengths of SQL and NoSQL databases by providing a distributed SQL database that offers strong consistency guarantees while allowing horizontal scalability. This benefits organisations that need to handle large volumes of data require high availability and fault tolerance and want to avoid the complexities of managing multiple database technologies.
YugabyteDB is a resilient and highly scalable database for modern microservice based applications
What do you like best about the product?
YugabyteDB is a best choice for today's microservice based applications, it is highly scalable, available and provide high performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the limitations of YugabyteDB db is that it is not compatible with some external tools and technologies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
YugabyteDB has high capability to handle large amount of incoming data, it has both relational and non-relational database support.
Nosql database with cloud native features
What do you like best about the product?
I like query in nosql database similiar to SQL databases. Also data distribution and and fast query data retrieval.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it's show not accurate exceptions
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Good open source cloud native database to use as startups as well as MNCs.
Excellent option for Cloud Native Distributed Database
What do you like best about the product?
Yugabyte is easy to provision and Its APIs are very easy to adapt. It also provides plenty of options to scale in a distributed environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes at heavy load, its inserts take time, which we have not been worried about when using the Oracle database.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Distributed database across multiple regions and RDBMS capabilities with JSON columns.
Future is YugaByte
What do you like best about the product?
YugabyteDB, the high-performance distributed SQL database for building global, internet-scale apps. It is built using a unique combination of the high-performance document store, auto sharding, per-shard distributed consensus replication, and multi-shard ACID transactions (inspired by Google Spanner).
YugabyteDBserves both scale-out RDBMS and internet-scale OLTP workloads with low query latency, extreme resilience against failures, and global data distribution.
YugabyteDBserves both scale-out RDBMS and internet-scale OLTP workloads with low query latency, extreme resilience against failures, and global data distribution.
What do you dislike about the product?
adjusting to the performance tuning for distributed query optimizer for work loads migrating from legacy RDBMS requires deeper knowledge and expertise. this can be a learning curve for some teams Automation for self managed clusters on cloud service providers can be improved for easier adoption.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Yugabytes support has has been very good, theyve been very responsive and quick to take on new features or fix bugs. Overall were happy with the HA/DR and scalability of the product. As with any data system there are limitations that need to be taken into account that require design changes to optimize the use case.
YugabyteDB is a good one to choose
What do you like best about the product?
Native PostgreSQL features such as functions, stored procedures.
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found yet. But I think it should be the limit of concurrent connections.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's about the performance
Why Yugabyte Cloud is the Best Cloud Database Solution I've Used So Far
What do you like best about the product?
Yugabyte Cloud has built-in high availability and fault tolerance features that ensure your database remains up and running despite hardware failures, network outages, or other issues. This was my best feature of YugabyteDB
What do you dislike about the product?
Limited Community Support: While YugabyteDB is gaining popularity, it still has a smaller community compared to other popular databases like MySQL or PostgreSQL. This means that it may be more difficult to find answers to specific questions or get help from the community.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scalability: Scaling a traditional relational database can be difficult and can require complex sharding or partitioning schemes. YugabyteDB, on the other hand, is designed to be highly scalable from the ground up. It uses a distributed architecture that allows you to easily scale horizontally across multiple data centers and cloud providers, which means you can easily handle increasing workloads and growing datasets without worrying about complex sharding or partitioning.
Great experience for lift and shift
What do you like best about the product?
YugabyteDB it's a great tool if you need to scalate your Postgre database, with the cluster you can have an almost unlimited scalation, beside their own drivers you can use Postgre drivers as well! Really great!
What do you dislike about the product?
I didn't had any bad expirience with Yugabyte
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scalation of our databases
