Workiva Simplifies Filing
What do you like best about the product?
Allows multiple teams to collaborate on the same documents and filings at the same time. Also, impressed by the implementation of EDGAR Next. The reference materials provided and the webcasts were key to our transition going as well as it did.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the editing features were more aligned with editing in Word. For example, if you are uploading an existing Word Exhibit document, you need to reformat it. The Workiva formatting panel/tools are burdensome compared to Word. Also, the margins (1" in Word is not 1" in Workiva) are not exactly the same in Workiva leading to different page breaks which causes issues if you have a Table of Contents.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our company has been using Workiva for quite a few years now. As a user of both the Reporting and Section 16 Modules, I don't think there is a specific problem they are helping us to solve but the product surely improves our productivity and process.

The functionality and automation and have had no issues with integration.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing to note yet. Prior to performing all of these steps within Workiva, we were manually performing all steps.

Automation and organization

What do you like best about the product?
Workiva has save me a lot of time. I am responsible for updating a PowerPoint report which in the past I had to manually reference and pull the data in from several reports. This process would take a few hours. With WORKIVA we're able to directly link the data in the PPT file to the reports and it updates in seconds. The software is intuitive and quick and easy to learn. The exporting of files out of WORKIVA is easy and I experience very few, if any, formatting issues. It has been a great tool for me in my job.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the PowerPoint interface in WORKIVA had more of the editing/formatting features found in the actual PowerPoint software. I also wish it had a easy reveiw/routing feature for non-WORKIVA stakeholders.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves time management during busy periods when hours are stretched thin by automatically populating reports and allowing several people to review and edit simultaneously.

What do you like best about the product?
Workiva is pretty easy to use in terms of setting up financial filings, it competes with ActiveDisclosure/DFIN. Workiva has good features, mainly its linking capabilities in which numbers for the entirety of the filing, whether it be the 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, etc., are updated easily from a central location as long as the set up is correct. The customer support, which includes your client success managers, is very responsive and is willing to help. The customer support will help you with your first time implementation to ensure the transition is smooth and that Workiva integrates well with your financial reporting process.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one thing I would like to see more improvement with Workiva is in terms of automation. I would like Workiva to have the capability to rollforward documents based on the Company's information. Additionally, Workiva's formating can be quite limiting when trying to portray certain graphs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva solves the need to reach out to EDGAR to file manually. Workiva really benefits us because it acts as our filing agent. Workiva also has XBRL capabilities and XBRL services that really help companies that are not very versed in XBRL.

1. Higher cost

Make the complex SEC Reporting much easier.
Helpful but clunky vs. online versions of Google sheets and Excel

Colaborative nature and the linking of data, dates, titles, etc. Once you have a master file makes it much easier to keep track of everything

The functionality differs vs. excel and Google sheets. Additionally, with images the software can be slow.

Having numbers, titles, dates synced up across files.
Workiva-- An intuitive and effective solution for ESG data management
What do you like best about the product?
We previously had our sustainability data stored on multiple spreadsheets. It became difficult to keep track of all the spreadsheets. Updating data, access issues, editor privleges, multiple versions, etc. Workiva allows us to solve many of these issues. The data collection, analysis, and reporting process is now more streamlined and organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although it is mostly intuitive, there is still a bit of a learning curve in terms of using the platform. It's a robust tool with many capabilities, but it takes time to learn how to fully use those functions.
Also, the initial standing up of the program is a big lift. This is not unique to Workiva, but getting all the initial historical data into the program takes time.

Formula inputs sometimes get wonky and is not as smooth as GSHEETS or Excel

What do you like best about the product?
The ability for multiple users to access and work on multiple documents, the permissions options, the comments and formatting functionalities, and linking.
What do you dislike about the product?
Track changes is not different for each person. So if somebody makes a change in track changes, then another person removes that change, you'd never know it was ever there/drafted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I wouldn't selected any of the above options... I would say "Financial Reporting".

Workiva is the best product compared to competitors
What do you like best about the product?
I think Workiva is great, but it takes some time to get used to the functionality. There is so much Workiva has to offer, you just have to take the time to ensure you're utilzing it to the best of it's ability. It is by far the best product in comparison to it's competitors. Quickly updates amounts, easy for reviewers, has ability to connect to your ERP and auto update financials. Great product!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a learning curve especially around formatting. Doesn't feel like we fully utilize all of Workiva's capabilities. We could use quarterly trainings from Workiva to ensure we are utilizing Workiva to it's full ability.
