Intuitive and End-to-End, But Bulk Edits Need Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
I love how intuitive it is, and how easy it is to sync data with qualitative reporting. I manage our annual Impact Report and it's a fantastic end-to-end tool for folks to use across our business, from initial data collection all the way through to design.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be difficult to do bulk changes or edits across large swaths of data.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva is helping us with our annual impact report, which is our main disclosure for our sustainability efforts.
Streamlined SOX Compliance with Workiva's Efficient Workflow
What do you like best about the product?
I have been using Workiva for approximately four years specifically for the GRC portion, and I find it incredibly beneficial for standardizing the testing and remediation process for SOX compliance. It allows for easy handling of sub-certifications and comprehensive documentation of control and risk design. The setup process was facilitated excellently by using a third-party service called embark, making the introduction to Workiva smooth and efficient without the need for further customizations. I appreciate the standard control forms, test forms, and the streamlined workflow for PVC requests and certifications which significantly enhance our operational efficiency. Moreover, Workiva integrates seamlessly with various tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat, which I find very useful for uploading necessary artifacts. I am so satisfied with Workiva that I would certainly consider purchasing it again and have even recommended it to other vendors, who subsequently found it valuable enough to purchase themselves. Overall, I have a high regard for Workiva's capabilities, which is why I would recommend it on a scale of nine.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find Workiva's visualization capabilities lacking compared to specialized tools like Tableau. Management visualizations are increasingly important, and I feel Workiva could improve in this area. Additionally, while Workiva has an AI component, I believe there is room to further focus on and strengthen it to enhance its capabilities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I find Workiva standardizes the testing and remediation process for SOX compliance, easily handles sub-certifications, and documents controls and risks comprehensively.
Great Task Management, Needs UI Polish and Better Comment Handling
What do you like best about the product?
The task creation, review, approval, and coordination between parties semantics works well and is capable. It is easy to upload files and share.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI and UX works but could use some more polish. Many of the text fields and comments strip out newlines upon submission which makes later reading of those comments more difficult. Unsure if this is our configuration, but I did run into places where I would have liked to add more comments or metadata (not edit the submission data) but was unable to due to it being in the 'review' state.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration and work tracking between our external auditors and us.
User-Friendly and Intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
Intuitive, ease of navigation, user friendly, real-time data to track status of work
What do you dislike about the product?
Cannot alter the white backdrop. White backdrops cause eye strain and blurred vision to users with astigmatism.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaboration has improved, task efficiency has improved, real time tracking of work tasks has improved reporting and resource allocation
Great for Collaboration, But Needs Better In-App Help
What do you like best about the product?
Organization is easy to navigate; easy to collaborate with other teams across organization
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was a help tool or resource. I often type questions into Google or AI to find out how to do a certain task I may have forgotten.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had a control problem related to our earnings release - and the functionality with the business wire integration solved it entirely!
Great for Financial Reporting, But Beware of Add-Ons and Overhyped Features
What do you like best about the product?
Workiva is a great tool that allows for organization and presentation of data. That may include financial statements, sox controls, internal audit reports or carbon reporting information. As a combined package, it allows for a single vendor with savings over the licensing, training and support cost of multiple tools from different vendors. It is generally intuitive and easy to use. It also makes financial statement preparation, review and tagging much easier than competitive options
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool is not really best in class in any area apart from financial statement preparation. They accomplish the requirements of each area and are worth the trade off in savings from having a single vendor but other dedicated, single purpose tools often do those individual tasks better. Their biggest strength is financial statement preparation, tagging and reporting but in their quest to extend functionality, they have fallen into the trap of buzzwords and trends (such as AI in name only) rather the focusing on building a great core. They also try to nickel and dime you over modules and extensions especially data connections/interfaces that really make your work efficient. The sales process is misleading when it comes to what the tool can do generally vs what they are providing in your quote. SLA is also disappointing in that they really don't even try to set a reasonable bar. I guess they assume that their solution will never be mission critical to a company and thus are unwilling to deliver even industry standard SAAS uptime promises.

It has financial reporting, SOX, internal audit and carbon all in a single tool.
Intuitive and Powerful, But Key Features Locked Behind Upgrades
What do you like best about the product?
I like that Workiva is intuitive and functions like a cloud-based excel. I also appreciate the Workiva Sync functionality. I wish that my firm chose to also purchase the W-Data real-time data refresh package.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that you do not get all features of Workiva with the basic package that QH has. We do not have W-Data and thus the Workiva Sync is really a glorified copy + paste tool. I also hate that system functionalities are abridged simply because we did not buy the W-Data package - for example, the Find + Replace feature is a one-by-one adjustment rather than being able to select a full page or sheet and have it find / replace everything. This can sometimes take HOURS - what gives?!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Workiva has stream-lined our close process with the Workiva Sync method. Before, it could take much longer for us to complete and update reporting during financial close. With Workiva, we have nearly cut that time in half. Workiva's Audit module also allow me to stay organized on upcoming due dates, as well as effectively upload all requested materials.
Excellent Cell-Level Auditing, But Tracking Removed Users Needs Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
Cell level auditing provided by Workiva makes tracing changes to a specific user extremely easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
When a user is removed from the system, it can sometimes be difficult to track their changes as easily.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My teams main use currently is for tracking Master Data requests in a spreadsheet. While Excel has an online platform, tracing who made changes, and what those changes are is time intense; with Workiva it takes 2 clicks.
Centralized Data Made Easy, But Needs More Excel-Like Shortcuts

Reducing the time to make financial statements by creating templates, reducing time in financial statement review and financial statement preparation
Comprehensive GRC Solution with Room for Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how Workiva makes our risk assessments and certifications significantly easier. It simplifies the process of ensuring that employees have read and understood necessary policies, which is crucial for us. The control mapping feature is incredibly beneficial and helps streamline our audit preparations. I'm impressed with Workiva's ability to enhance workflow through its document approval and risk assessment capabilities, making these processes much more efficient. The automatic workflows also stand out, as they are particularly helpful in managing and organizing tasks across our team. Overall, these features contribute to a smoother and more efficient risk management process, aligning perfectly with our organizational needs for a comprehensive GRC platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
