This product has been good once it is set up
What do you like best about the product?
I like that once you set this up you do not have to continually check to make sure that formulas are correct or that data pulls in correctly - it just does it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The formatting of certain cells for presentations can be very time consuming as there are a lot of different way to present the info (down to the decimal level, which can cause different number).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wee solving the issue of many individual contributors to a deck with different formats and time to enter the data. This has allowed us to be quicker with the deck prep.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Makes compiling documentation easier and allows users to track changes throughout the document
Easy to use, familiar MS Office interfaces
What do you like best about the product?
This produce has a familiar interface, using many of the Word and Excel features that Finance business users are already comfortable with. Gone are the days of pencils-down, no more changes to your filing for up to 3 days before your SEC deadline. I love the linking capabilities and the hyperlinking capabilities for exhibits. Blackline versions are easy to create so you can see what changed from one version of your document to the next, and review is easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
XBRL is still a little cumbersome if you're not already familiar with the tagging process. It would be helpful if the program offered more robust tagging suggestions, rather than having to search through other companies' filings for similar disclosures and tags. However, finding the correct tag once you know which tag you want is very easy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're filing all of our SEC filings with Wdesk now. IR uses it; Legal uses it. It's easy to collaborate within the reporting team and among the various teams at our company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Lots of training is available. If you need more experience in a certain area, contact your CSM - there may be additional training available that isn't immediately provided on the website. Attend the local user group workshops - it's interesting to hear what Workiva is putting out in the next release, and your local resources are great references in the future when you have an issue with the product.
Exceeded My Expectations
What do you like best about the product?
The way Workiva walked our project through their software was fantastic. Their staff was professional and knowledgeable. Customer Service is clearly their top priority. The end result was so much better than what we were doing before.
What do you dislike about the product?
The product was a little challenging to get the hang of initially.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used it for our annual budget book that required input from multiple departments. It allowed our numbers and references to flow through the document so that if anything changed, the other areas would cascade the change down through the project.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely reach out to the Wdesk staff. They were very helpful in assisting us through product conception. How it would benefit and what it would look like in their program.

Some specific formatting issues yet to be corrected

Creating monthly, quarterly and yearly financials. It has vastly cut down the time it takes to create and review the financials

Get the consultants to come out and show you what can be done, that is all that you will need to be convinced that it is worth it
