Office365 Email Security Done Right!
What do you like best about the product?
Avanan uses multiple security tools and services to really bring a full 360 protection of Microsoft Office 365 email. Being that its an inline coded service makes implementation to productivity a breeze. The interface is very intuitive and performs most tasks for you in the background searching for other emails instances that apply to that actions you perform.
What do you dislike about the product?
On the dashboard, mitigating phishing attempts really needs to have an auto-refresh of sorts so you don't have to go back to the Dashboard and back into the phishing attempts list to refresh it. Refreshing the phishing attempts screen leaves all the fixed/mitigated items in there and you the count never goes down.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have not brought up my dislike to Avanan just yet. But their support team is very quick to fix issues that I have reported in the past.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
When we were researching other cloud email security programs, most of the other programs were built for Exchange and not Office365. We originally went with Microsoft ATP but that needed other tier upgrades in our Office365 services to give us the protection that Avanan would give us. So we dropped Microsoft ATP and went with Avanan.
Easy to use and effective cloud security
What do you like best about the product?
Quick and easy to deploy security, which provides a great level of protection. Avanan is detecting and quarantining issues which are getting through other security filters. The Avanan team are fantastic to deal with and very receptive to feedback.
There are multiple security engines used for detecting malicious content, which provides an additional degree of protection through layers of defence.
The range of supported Cloud App products covers most of the commonly used cloud services such as Exchange Online, SharePoint\OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Gmail, Dropbox, Box, etc.

What do you dislike about the product?
Management of email templates could be simplified. It is currently a bit of a manual process to update the different email templates, as they must be updated individually. This isn't something which needs to be done often though, it is normally only during initial setup.
The product isn't marketed as an anti-spam solution, but with a few additional features such as quarantine digests, it could be used for this purpose.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Effective detection of phishing emails and easy to understand analysis of exactly why an email has been deemed to be safe or malicious. We have more visibility into the threats which are targeting our clients SaaS environments, and greater confidence that threats will be detected and blocked, reducing risk to our client's data.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try! If it doesn't have a feature you require, definitely worth having a chat to the Avanan team and letting them know as they may be able to add it quickly or put in on their development roadmap.
Proud of is my vetting and implementation of Avanan
What do you like best about the product?
Avanan is an handy tool that makes email security easy to administer. Their support is exceptional, they are a true partner of their clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing so far. Avanan has been great all along.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were trying to make the email security administration process easier. We have realized just that
Avanan is a great email security tool
What do you like best about the product?
I like the security features, mostly the user logins from different IP source, is great you can tell that the client logged in on one IP and after a few minutes on another, this give you and advantage on protecting our clients., I like how easy is to use, is a must tool to offer your client and keep them safe even from themselves., their support is great, they follow up really fast. Very recommended.
What do you dislike about the product?
until now, I have not seen anything that I could dislike about Avanan Security. it has been great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our Clients security, we feel more relaxed knowing Avanan is guarding our clients' email, SharePoint, onedrive, even sign in from different countries and cities, is a must for serious IT security.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
work with Avanan support on how to set up personalized Queries and verified that "send report" is applied under each required Query, or you won't receive the alert.
Simple and effective
What do you like best about the product?
The level of protection -- I have extreme confidence in Avanan's ability to protect my company's email. The quarantine feature is nice in that it let's the recipient know that a message was blocked and then gives them the ability to request it. As an admin, after getting notified about the request, can review the message to verify its viability and either approve the restore request or deny it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that there isn't a mobile app. There are times I need to administer Avanan on my phone and performing these tasks via a mobile browser can prove difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Microsoft 365's built-in anti-phishing capability is severely lacking in my opinion. We were seeing too many phishing emails getting through to our end users prior to implementing Avanan.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't rely on Microsoft to completely protect your company's email. As with everything security related, a layered approach is ideal. Using Avanan is a great way to prevent phishing emails from getting through and compromising your business.
If You're Looking For A New Email Gateway Put Avanan At The Top Of Your List
What do you like best about the product?
Immediate return on investment. Super easy to setup and use. No extra appliances just fully uses O365 API. You will see immediate results. All the emails that were getting past O365 such as fake Microsoft O365 phishing attacks, fake voicemails, faxes, UPS/FEDEX/USPS, etc. Avanan was picking up on easily. Support has also been extremely responsive when we have had questions or if legitimate email was getting caught. I can't recommend Avanan enough.
What do you dislike about the product?
No dislikes so far. Product does an excellent job stopping all that phish and spam that gets through O365.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking for a new email gateway provider since so much phish and spam was getting through. We have had phenomenal success with Avanan. Super easy to setup and use. Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just do the demo. I think it will sell itself.
Avanan has an easy integration and is a great additional level of security.
What do you like best about the product?
Avanan's easy implementation allows us to stand up our environment in literally minutes. It is a set it and forget it environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the UI is a bit obscure. Everything can ultimately be found, but because it lays on top of Exchange, it is sometimes cumbersome to to track down emails.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems were between 2 365 tenants that both had Avanan - we implemented some additional transport rules that created some false positives and email loops.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Start with a POC, it is a great way to begin
Avanan Cloud Security

A great product with top notch support that should not be overlooked for e-mail security.
What do you dislike about the product?

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Further securing our e-mail domain from spam and phishing e-mails
Great Next Gen Tool Covering the Bases for Multi-Layered Application Security
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to install and trial. Light to manage. There's a great API connection ability which is cleaner and better than traditional gateways. The continual scanning of not only email but One Drive, Sharepoint is critical.
What do you dislike about the product?
Needing the extra mailbox license for quarantine. I get why it's necessary just wish there were something else build so that it weren't required.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Phishing, Spoofing, Impersonation attempts. Ransomware, 0-day malware etc..
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use a next gen tool with API. Enable multiple layers of security for protection across devices, clouds, and user accounts/productivity tools.
Avanan works great with Microsoft 365
What do you like best about the product?
The email reports are very helpful and convenient. The dashboard is very informative and easy to get a really good overview of what all Avanan is doing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest downside is having to sign into a portal other than Microsoft 365 admin portal to manage the service. This is only a small inconvienience, however.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are mainly using it to help prevent phishing attacks. We also are monitoring email for malware, and monitoring Sharepoint and OneDrive for unusual activity. Avanan is keeping track of "Shadow IT" accounts which are basically services that are signed into using our business email addresses. This allows us to easily see how responsible our users are being with their corporate accounts.
The user interface is pretty intuitive. It makes it pretty easy to define policies and actions for Avanan to take based on automated findings. The Dashboard is very complete (and customizable) and gives you a really good overview of the state of your systems without having to dive too deep into the menus. You can sort items many different ways to discover trends in targeted attacks and careless user behavior. Avanan makes it easy to define and test policies before taking action on a mass scale. In the event of a false detection, it is quite easy to reverse any action that Avanan took, such as quarantining files, stopping delivery on emails, etc.
Avanan also gives you the ability to view email source and headers. This is quite helpful, and it will also allow you to view the entire body of any communication that comes through the corporate system. This can be essential in remediating irresponsible behavior such as using corporate emails for personal reasons.
Avanan has caught many phishing attempts directed to our users that Microsoft's filtering missed. Avanan has also stopped potential malware from being delivered to our end users. We have been alerted due to a high volume of file deletions in Microsoft Sharepoint. Avanan has discovered and quarantined malicious files in some of our users' OneDrives, that they were unaware of. The weekly email reports are quite convenient for a quick overview of actions that Avanan took, and once logged in, offer suggestions for other actions or remediations.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a great and full featured product. The setup can take some time, but you need to make sure you have a good idea of the things you wish to accomplish prior to setting it up.
