Mule for ESB , B2B and cloud integration

  • December 29, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy deployment on cloud
Comprehensive tools/pallets for integration, save time of developer.
Ready to use elements - No other integration tool offers such detailed and wide range of elements.
Data weave for mapping without writing complex xslt logic.
GUI with configuration xml - easy to make changes in the flow.
Segregation of administration and developer interface
What do you dislike about the product?
Need to know JAVA to be an expert in Mulesoft.
Since it is based on spring framework, sometimes to many directories to manage just for simple integration.
Lengthy process to develop api and deployment to the portal and configuring endpoint. Not easy to track the mistake.
As Anypoint Studio is very comprehensive tool, smaller integration projects may not be able to fully utilize the power of the tool.
One jar missing and you are dead.
Hard to understand the log for non Java user.
Documentation is good but can be better with more examples.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy deployment to cloud
APIs - Adding functionalities without breaking existing code
Recommendations to others considering the product:
A very good ESB tool for enterprise integration.
No big learning curve for JAVA developers as it is based on Spring Framework.

Mulesoft Overview

  • December 23, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The adoption of an integration software needs alignment with the business in order to success is not new. But having the possibility to decouple into many APIs layers the requirement of the business until you get the full solution , disengaging all the systems that are interacting , is the best thing I found in Mulesoft.
It's natural to behave like this with this software, do don't have to force it.
The debug feature is one of the best things the tool is providing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Anypoint studio is still with some bugs. Some tips are always required in order to have finished your goals developing flows. But that is something that you get use in this kind of software.
A better QA for the Studio could be a good addition.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sales, ETL, Mobile backeds, and some Middleware integrations between large ERP with some satellite systems.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Improve the QA into the Studio.

Brilliant, Easy access to complex integration solutions.

What do you like best about the product?
The Anypoint Platform is a full integration and API suite; you have all the tools that you need, development, test, operation, monitoring and if you go for cloud also analysis tools. You also have an option for a PaaS with Cloudhub, including a free account so you can start testing right away.

Then there is the visual representation of integrations, which makes it possible to get a nice overview of the integrations.

It is often possible to get a minimal working prototype in a matter of hours, and not months so thumbs up.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, not everything is fluffy pink clouds, or in this case fluffy blue clouds.
In real life, integrations are not as simple as all the examples show.

The tools from Mulesoft are in rapid development, some of it is, of course, bug fixing. So you have to be careful not to do updates headlessly because some updates break functionality.

For Anypoint Studio, the consequence is that some functionality is not always working. I have especially seen this when working on Linux.

The Mule Runtime Engine is also hit by this sometimes, but Mulesoft is quite good to fix this in an acceptable timeframe.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have solved many kinds of problems using Mulesoft. Anything from simple data mappings and transformations to exposing complex systems through API's and synchronizing data between systems.

The benefit here as mentioned earlier is that you can get a minimum solution running very fast, this is a great feature when working with agile development.

The visual representation is also a great benefit, and especially the option to export documentation is saving me, a lot of time working as a consultant.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are working alone:
- Know Java

If you are working in teams:
- Be sure that someone included in the project working with Mule have decent Java skills.
- Be sure to have a proper development strategy.
- USE MAVEN - Very important
- USE VERSIONING - Very important

What do you like best about the product?
As i said it is very light weight and mostly inbuilt connectors, transformers, scopes and many other things to make user feel relaxed and developer as well. Simple and easily way of developing flows. Requirement may be complex but not the flow development.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing so far, but one thing i can say ..one feel difficult if he/she doesn't know full features of any software. Knowing fully is important rather than saying implementing is difficult.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many for example flat file naming conventions using regular expressions and data transformation using Java component etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Easy way of implementing many complex integrations.
Can easily learn.
Comprehensive discussions and forum to resolve all our questions.

speed, simple yet strong

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and modeling even the most complex flows and requirements looks so easy and the number of connectors available. Really anypoint studio allows us to focus on the actual requirements and it take cares of everything else around the requirement.
Also the on the fly edits and auto restart really saves so much of developers time. the kind of enhancements anypoint studio delvers to developers to work with SOA, SaaS, APIs and data integration is commendable.
What do you dislike about the product?
some flaws exists such as if you are working with mongodb connector then you can test connections to localhost and you need no credentials but when you execute the flows it says these fields are mandatory. Also the documentation for mongo says but in anypoint studio you see . Another suggestion is inclusion of examples for each connector with simple explanation. may be a complete working example towards the end really help understand the connector fast.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
connecting to cloud or working with rest is way more simplified then handling it in pure java. the way i worked on it earlier.
the studio also has some really cool features such as subflows, batch related and data wever need no special mention. scatter -gatter is so awesone. :)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
definitely. there is no competition foe mulesoft in market yet that caters to such wide range of requirements and technical domains and specializations..

Mulesoft: One Stop Cloud ESB

  • December 08, 2016
  • Review verified by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The freedom and options to connect any system / component using the Anypoint Platform. Can connect flat files and expose them as a Web Service! The system doing a "GET" using web service will never know what kind of language / platform they're dealing with. It's a consistent look and feel of REST and SOAP.
What do you dislike about the product?
Too complex sometimes. In Mulesoft Anypoint platform, you have a number of ways to achieve a goal. There are so many components and connectors such that it becomes hard to know everything available out there.

Logging needs to be more user friendly. An audit file in an HTML format with collapsable headers will be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Connecting systems that are very disparate. Like connecting a flat file based system with a cloud-based apps can be a pain. But with Anypoint platform, it becomes a bit easier.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I'd recommend Anypoint Platform if one is looking to interconnect multiple systems. Replacing point to point integration with ESB layer is a complex process but in return, it provides efficient business processes workflow and streamlined data flow between the business logic and the vendors.
