What do you like best about the product?
It strengthens, power, stability, scalability. As a product of many years, it takes all the good from the previous versions and adopts the new technologies.
What do you dislike about the product?
The development lifecycle, and the High Availability (HA) configuration in previous versions or without Integrated Control Plane (ICP).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In the banking business, due to the powerful throughput, we can be sure to manage all the traffic needed without losing data, and with the addition of MQ, we have confidence that our transactions are safe.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are planning to use it as an old-fashioned ESB, it's a great, stable, and versatile tool. However, if you are planning to use it in Kubernetes environments, it's not so good because of its footprint and weight.

Limitations in App Connect Connectivity

  • February 12, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
App Connect provides a simplified user interfacce that allows flows to be developed between well defined apis and a growing list of applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
The principle problem encountered in the client integration which has used App Connect is linked to the simplifed user interface and significant limitations to the data transformation capabilities.

The use case we had required integration between Saas API's that required processing of blob data, App Connect was unable to provide a transformation mechanism from tge blob data which had to be performed within an IIB flow.

The extra complexity this entailed revealed significant limitiations in the App Connect UI; whilst maybe sufficient for simple integraitons the oversized components, palllet, canvas and properties became a hinderence during the development process, having options to size these would help immensely and provide a much improved development experiience.

We found further limitations as the taget Saas system had a fine grained API, which required many API calls for a single source system record, this compounded the issues described above.

The final soluotion was build the whole solution using IIB applications deveployed to App Connect via BAR files as Callable flows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saas to Saas integration. The App Connect Cloud platform provides a low cost mechanism for a cloud based integration platform, but there are some limitations with the development UI and capabilities offered specifically with API consumption.

What do you like best about the product?
The push towards citizen integration with the workflow tooling. This is a good move in the market as competitors have this functionality already (i.e dell boomi)
What do you dislike about the product?
The adapters are too generic and there are issues when trying to customise them for adhoc requirements. Headers and file attachment processing is troublesome.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
QUick and efficient integration for cloud SaaS software.

What do you dislike about the product?

Exceptional for commercial use

  • September 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
WebSphere Cast Iron allows us to quickly and efficiently integrate Salesforce with other Cloud and on-premise systems.

The template-based integrations and connectors for Salesforce and other systems allow us to integrate with confidence and speed.

The variety of form factors allows us to right-size our solutions for clients and the complexity of initial integrations versus the roadmap a client has for future integrations.
What do you dislike about the product?
WebSphere Cast Iron is not aligned with the Salesforce product roadmap in the same way as other ETL competitors. When I talk with Salesforce REPS and other partners, they see Cast Iron as being significantly behind in this ecosystem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
WebSphere is not the best for Reporting solutions, but excels in data transformation and system integrations.
