I did not find the product's features to be the most valuable since I feel that its most beneficial point stems from its cheap price range, which satisfied our company's goals in areas like VPN connectivity, virus protection, and cybersecurity.
What needs improvement?
The product has a lot to improve in the area of policy implementation. If our company wants to give a separate policy to a particular client, user or system, it is very difficult to manage it. There is no categorization in the web filter option. If you want to search for a particular content to be blocked in the web filter, the search option is not there. You have to manually choose the option in the tool and then check it.

I have been using Arista Edge Threat Management NG Firewall for a year.

I have never experienced any downtime while using the solution.

It is a great tool, but we had to do a lot of research. We must understand it to implement it. We had to do a lot of work for two months to understand the firewall. We took another three weeks to implement the rules. It took us a lot of time. Overall, I rate the tool a seven out of ten.

What do you like best about the product?
GUI Interface and the ease of configuration. It is easy to adapt to numerous hardware devices. The apps add another dimension to security and the ability to see what is happening.
What do you dislike about the product?
Being in an environment that has mobile users bringing their own devices and using public wifi the pay per device model is difficult to stomach. Over 150 of our licenses are just user's cell phones.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tunneling, traffic shaping, and more. It is like an eye in the sky. The dashboard on our parter portal allows us to see all of our appliances at once and manage from afar.

Excellent support - always helpful and insightful when I have specific customer problems I need to solve

A few struggles since the Arista buyout, but still a happy customer so far so good ...

The remote management portal makes working on my customer's needs easy and provides single pane of glass to see how our installed base of NG Firewall is doing.

I like the features and flexibility. We have the ability to build a custom box and run the software on it. We also have the ability to purchase hardware/appliances ready to go.

I don't like the dated interface. It could be polished up

What do you like best about the product?
Untangle NG Firewall is easy to deploy and use. You can expand functionality by purchasing plugins for only what you want. Licensing is simple as it is per device for all services. You can bypass devices to save licenses (for example: for IoT devices or printers bypassing Content Filtering).
What do you dislike about the product?
Content Filtering can be problematic when a website is flagged to multiple categories or when categories include diverse or uncategorized content, as you'll encounter blocked pages or false-positive alerts. Since licensing is done per device, you must have enough for the maximum number of clients you could have connected, so content filtering guest Wi-Fi, for example, could require a large investment.

NG Firewall (Complete) provides a secure perimeter with numerous other services such as Content Filtering, VPN, WAN Failover and Load Balancing while providing good reporting, a beautiful dashboard and remote monitoring.
