Excellent hardware and software, continuously being developed
What do you like best about the product?
I’ve been a user of Echo360 since 2011, using the ESS version before moving across to the SaaS solution. The hardware & software is expensive compared to other lecture capture systems, such as Kaltura & Panopto, but it is robust and continually being developed. Echo360 are moving across to providing an LMS set up for students to interact with & to submit video assignments via VLEs.
What do you dislike about the product?
The old ESS was allowed to get v buggy before the SaaS solution was released & the software’s accessibility features are unnecessarily expensive, so automated captions which are 80% accurate would cost my institution £30k alone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working with Echo360 is 70% of my job. Problems we are trying to solve by using Echo360 are: student engagement, student retention & comprehension of lecture content. It also serves as a great carrot to draw students, as lecture capture is being requested more and more.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Figure out whether Echo360 pods do what you need, rather than PRO appliances or classroom capture. Much cheaper solution, although not as robust.
Great online learning platform for integrated learning
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to access online content. Being able to adjust the playback speed is great as not all presenters are deliver content at the same speeds, and it can enhance productivity. Allowing dual screens enhances the ability to see the presented material as well as one screen can be focused on the presenter and another on the slides.
What do you dislike about the product?
The quality of the online content can depend on the IT setup that is installed and managed, but the software platform itself is fantastic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Accessing online multimedia content. Very useful for when audience members are unable to attend. Learners are also able to review lectures online repeatedly to help them process the information at their own pace.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Would highly recommend ECHO360 as a online learning tool for integrated learning if your organization has a good IT department to record lectures and manage online content.
TurningPoint - Great Idea, Poor Execution
What do you like best about the product?
Free for participants - only cost is the facilitators use of software.
Quick and relatively easy way to set up instantaneous polling for participants.
Also, as many other programs utilize the Clicker hardware, this software can accommodate that use for question submission.

What do you dislike about the product?
The app often doesn’t stay logged in to the session if closed out and doesn’t remember user ID.
App can crash, freeze, or otherwise have extremely slow update speeds for new questions.
Sometimes the questions don’t appear on the user platform, which can make it difficult depending on setting of use.

Useful for quickly polling students and collecting data for analysis.
Students can use personal devices as the recorder, just have to download the app.

Increased Audience Engagement
What do you like best about the product?
Turning Point ARS is a great way to keep students alert and participating during lectures. The clicker was inexpensive for students, and I noticed participation and attendance improved. I love how customizable questions are, and I especially like the fact that it makes big university lecture halls feel more tight-knit. Students could learn from each other, and it helped me understand what areas were misunderstood across the class (i.e. when a large number of students missed the same questions.). Love that you can see real-time results immediately following a poll.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no way to stop students from passing on clickers to other students to answer. There were sometimes technical issues with the software gathering results.

Student engagement and learning, more alert audience, better understanding what areas to focus on
Educational Setting
What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use and ability to implement into a wide variety of circumstances.

Sometimes the software is faulty and does not work on every computer.

Solving the fact that we can test students in an educational setting and be able to poll for results. So helpful to see if the class is understanding what is being taught.

Continue to make it useful from an educational standpoint by making it as user friendly as possible.
Old System-Good Info But Need to Upgrade
What do you like best about the product?
It does provide data analytics (tracking answers from clickers) which can be very helpful in course and individual performance
What do you dislike about the product?
The process is somewhat clunky but we are using an old version of the software. Upgrading to the current cloud version may resolve the interface and setup.

Provided interaction within sessions for a psychologically safe way to check attendees knowledge, capturing data on participant performance on a pre-test and post test

Use the current version, contact account rep and support staff for questions and problems. They are very responsive and helpful
Turning Point for class
What do you like best about the product?
I love when my professors use turning point during class to gauge where us students are in regards to learning the material
What do you dislike about the product?
Turning point does not show how much time is left to answer the question on the users screen
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Turning point is used during my classes which helps me stay on track with the material and tests how much I know. In classes that use turning point I notice I do better on quizzes and exams.

What do you like best about the product?
A different way to interact with the staff attending an educational program

There are other more innovative ways to interact with attendees now (mobile phone vs handheld clicker)

Learner engagement, implementing different learner engagement strategies
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Examine how many individual clickers you need as well as receivers. Clickers can be divided and used during separate simultaneous presentations but another receiver is needed.
A complete lecture capture system
What do you like best about the product?
Echo360 maintain an aggressive roadmap, and for the most part deliver the goods. While their design decisions haven't pleased everyone (which is impossible to do) they have an impressive track record in getting it right, which gives me confidence.
What do you dislike about the product?
The baseline product is a little expensive. The UI could be a little more mobile friendly.

Echo360 allows my organisation to deliver rich video and interactive content to students.

If you need classroom capture, Echo360 is the best product we've found.
Using TurningPoint ARS in the classroom
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoyed using this technology in the classroom because it kept the students more engaged with the topic. They could respond easily to the questions in front of them and I felt it made them more confident and comfortable to answer questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
The set-up and training process took much longer than I would've liked.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It kept our students engaged in the classroom which creates a more positive learning experience overall. We could also use it to take attendance so students had to be present to get participation points. It kept us more connected to the students
