Lowers human element risks and has innovative training

What is our primary use case?

We use the solution to lower human element risk. By providing recurring security awareness training, simulated phish testing for immediate reaction training, and more, our risk is significantly lowered.

By requiring onboarding security awareness training, ongoing training, and our coupling of other layers of security, we have yet to be hit with malware or ransomware.  KnowBe4's solution plays a big role in this.

Our use case focuses on positive reinforcement and benefit and not punitive.  This has the benefit of protecting the end-user in their personal life, as well!

How has it helped my organization?

KnowBe4's formulas for risk reduction simply work. Being a technical company, our initial phish-prone percentage wasn't super high, but it was still around 18%.  Since we have been requiring ongoing training and simulated phish testing, our average phish-prone percentage hovers in the 0 to 3% range now. 

As a reseller, it resonates with clients and prospects when they hear we are users of the solution, as well. They understand we are not just selling it to be selling it, but we truly believe in it.

What is most valuable?

The innovative training is good. We have exposure and availability of competing solutions. NONE have the content that KnowBe4 has. Our users specifically like The Inside Man training series. They ask for more training in the form of 'When is the next season coming out? We can't wait!'

The ability to modify training is slick.

Being able to tie into SSO via SAML is fantastic!  

We hope to eventually add in PhishER and possibly SecurityCoach to provide even further risk reduction.  

What needs improvement?

Some more AI-driven automation for creating training and phishing testing campaigns, as well as automated reporting would help. The Phish Alert button could be improved, although it is understood this is due to Microsoft's constant changes.  

Any improvements in wizards and documentation are always a good thing!.

Additonal areas for improvement could be around the technical training and best practice training areas such as NIST CSF, CISv8, Cyberinsurance, and more.

Clearer whitelisting requirements are always appreciated. However, the current levels are significant and appreciated.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using KnowBe4 for more than nine years.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

It is very stable. It seems to always be up.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

It is extremely scalable.

How are customer service and support?

All interactions with tech support have been top notch.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

We have only used free or open-source materials.

How was the initial setup?

As long as you have knowledge or resources who can integrate with your mail solution, work with your firewalls and filters for whitelisting, etc., it is very straightforward!

What about the implementation team?

We implemented it in-house.

What was our ROI?

We didn't measure ROI but the potential loss that is avoided is huge.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

My advice would be to find a trusted partner and work with them. The pricing model is simple. If you have the technical staff and bandwidth, you may implement it yourself. However, if you want to get up and running more quickly, find a partner with that level of experience who has done it multiple times.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

We looked at Wombat (acquired by another vendor), PhishMe (acquired by another vendor), SANS (didn't resonate with all end users), and others I can no longer recall.

What other advice do I have?

Take advantage of the user conference (KB4CON) and other ongoing updates and materials.

What do you like best about the product?
After a very helpful and friendly associate of KnowBe4 helped me with the initial set up - the site just does exactly what you need it to do - phishing the biggest security threat at a company - humans :) . Great reporting and easy navigation. Our rep is always available and they even actively reach out to make sure you've got what you need. This is a great service by a great company.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some getting used to finding things in nooks and crannies - but nothing that practice doesn't fix.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our team has access to sensitive information and keeping them on top of their toes while clicking around in their email is monumental to security.

The reporting, and the selections available from the Mod Store for customized training.
What do you dislike about the product?
Help Function, very difficult to find what the user is looking for. Key words are important but sometimes spend more time trying to use the key word for the appropriate search.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training is to align with the Future Electronics Compliance requirements with ISO 27001 and NIST SP 800-171

What do you like best about the product?
Wide selection of training material, from short amusing clips (e.g. Restricted Intelligence), to more "serious" and to-the-point videos.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not "dislike", it's a room for improvement - more content to be multilingual (some material not available in Greek).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Without KnowBe4, we (the IT Department) would have to conduct seminars internally, which would involve preparing the materials ourselves, coordinating with other departments (like HR) to schedule times, people, and rooms, and delivering the presentations, thus consuming a significant amount of man-hours.

What do you like best about the product?
The training modules we have used are short and to the point.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's tricky to manage the training courses which have already been used. It would be nice if they could be flagged.

Excellent tool to find phish-prone users!

What do you like best about the product?
It was very easy to set up with our Exchange servers. We run the test monthly to find phish-prone users. We deployed the Outlook add-in to all users with easy integration. I have not needed to contact customer support.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it would be helpful for users to be notified if they failed the phishing test and to be reminded that they should never forward suspected phishing emails. We prefer not to tell users that they may receive phishing tests, but it's hard to educate them on their mistakes if we have to pretend that we didn't know about the email they received.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping users to learn to be more aware when receiving emails from unexpected senders. This makes them less likely to open an email attachment from a malicious sender and more likely to notify the IT department.

What do you like best about the product?
Know Be4 has helped us, run the security awareness program in our organization efficiatively. we can add- update modules and also run time-based campaign, with integration with okta and namely the compliance training are automatically assigned to the new hires, so there is an automation to the process and less chances of missing out on the compliance part.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Dashboard reporting could be better and needs more options to send reminders to individuals or a group reminder to the managers.

Its a one-stop program to meet and manager our compliance, it helps us in managing the timelines and the content of the programs, also during our audits it is so organized to provide the trainings proofs and records. it has solved the problem of getting the policy documents signed and maintaining them manually.

What do you like best about the product?
The modules are engaging and the length of each module is reasonable. Our customer support is always available to answer questions or to make the platform work better for us if changes need to be made.

Sometimes the modules can be a bit elementary in nature.

Security Awareness Training keeps our employees engaged with information that is top of mind as they are proceeding throughout their workday. By consistently rolling out various training topics, we are ensuring that our team is lessening the risks of cyber attacks on our systems both privately and personally.
