The geography of everything through software

  • July 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to carry out a large amount of spatial analysis, use of statistics, and establish studies of all indoles, the use of satellite images and rasters allow the user a huge range of applications
What do you dislike about the product?
The costs of the license and of the extensions can generate a problem in the moment that an analysis is needed and there is no tool available, so we must be very attentive to which of them we are really going to need and pay .
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Nos ha permitido realizar análisis que podemos mostrar al cliente para que este pueda realizar proyectos mejorando la precicion y bajando costos de costruccion, ademas de la posibilidad de ubicarlo e el lugar exacto de su proyecto
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its mechanics allows us to locate ourselves in the best way in the world, so my recommendation is to the companies to manage their staff in this software

    Information Technology and Services

ArcGIS as a GIS Professional

  • July 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ArcGIS has a full stack of GIS tools, ranging from mobile, to desktop, to server, to cloud and to web. They have numerous offerings from more generic products through to highly specific industry based and focused tools. This allows them to operate over a wide range of industrys and really push thier products
What do you dislike about the product?
Esri/ArcGIS has a much slower development cycle than many of their (open source) competitors. You'' find that other companies will release new tools/functionality and a while later (often a year or two) Esri/ArcGIS will release the same functionality touting it as the latest and greatest. Because of thier market share, people often aren't aware that the smaller companies havebeen doing it for quite a while.

ArcGIS Pro seems to be a backwards step in terms of functionality, however it is great to finally see 64bit and multithreaded support
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A full stack, enterprise level GIS system that allows us to manage and distribute data, services and tools across a wide platform and 100s of users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're looking for a full enterprise stack, then pick arcgis. If you just need to do basic mapping, or simplier analysis, look elsewhere

Steep Learning Curve for a Powerful Software

  • July 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Once you get a hang of basic commands, spatializing your data is a powerful tool for communication. Network analyst is crucial for my work, and has flexible applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
The graphics are very dated - making maps usually will require further editing in a graphic software if you do not want it to look like a 1998 product. The learning curve is also very steep.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used ArcGIS for research in transport planning and studio projects. Used for site analysis and context analysis, as well as user routing and service area.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Great non-profit discounts to allow use for organization's with limited technology funding.
What do you dislike about the product?
Graphics and visually a bit outdated. Would like to see additional resources and updates around more graphics to allowing for more external/digitally pleasing visuals.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Site eligibility. Census data was pulled into ArcGIS, combined with census tract overlap, and used to determine if partner sites were eligible were programming under certain funder. Sites needed meet certain thresholds of need when it came to poverty level.

ArcGIS as used in an introductory course

  • June 07, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate how many different tools and applications ArcMap has to manipulate data and create your own maps.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some bugs are not evident or easily fixed, which has set me back in certain projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am researching the relationship between landfill locations and disease prevalence among local populations. I have been able to easily add data from external sources and use it to draw connections between the two concepts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Acquire a user guide, particularly a college-level introductory textbook, and complete the tutorials to help familiarize yourself with ArcGIS! You will likely encounter some setbacks or bugs, but many of them are solvable with ESRI Online Support.

Flexible tool for mapping

  • May 15, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It has different modules available so you can find the one you need easily. In addition, it has many help files that proved to be helpful and user-friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve is a bit steep (but it is not necessarily a reflection of the software deficiency itself). The files are pretty large, and it requires a high function computer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use ArcGIS to produce maps, often involves several layers of data. It is relatively easy to use once you learned how to navigate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are not doing complicated geographic data manipulation/analysis, this ARCGIS is perfect for you. It is sufficient for creating basic to somewhat complicated maps.
