Canto is almost too good to be true!
What do you like best about the product?
There are many things that I like best about Canto, but I will definitely say I love that our ability to store and access so much more data and information and be able to access it easier is a huge plus! I love the Canto has the ability to upload and view any type of file you may throw at it, CAD/DWG was a big surprise to me but super exciting! I like that Canto has fantastic security behind it and that our information is safe. I like that you are able to give permissions and restrict certain or specific files and information. I also love that you have the ability to enter in so many different tags for one document, file or photo. It makes it much easier to search for because we all know that different people will describe something a little different each time!
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that Canto was a little brighter when it came to the "smart tags" that it automatically gives when you upload a document or photo. I think there are alot more "common" words or descriptions that could be added to its vocabulary. It would be very helpful for the unexperienced uploader or the person who just isn't good at describing things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are essentially upgrading our current server and giving ourselves much more storage and capabilities. We are making files, docs and photos from all different departments available to everyone across the board. We are now able to easily access things that we couldn't before while out in the field, simply because this software is internet-based.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is not much else out there that will be any better or do any more for you. Its perks are endless and they stand behind their software!
Best DAM ever!
What do you like best about the product?
i can share a file just once onto our platform and never have to do it again. We've been able to save time but loading all of our files from internal servers, google drive and dropbox onto one location. No more having to dig in multiple locations to find or share assets
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform can be a little faster when moving/creating folders and albums. Currently jumps around when you create a new folder or album. One other issue I found is when needing to change or reset the password for a user. There's no easy way of doing it through the user section of the settings.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Time efficiency, file organization, sharing or providing access with portals to view and download assets
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great way to organize files and share with ease with a portal. Love the integration with Adobe
Canto - Best Decision of the Year
What do you like best about the product?
As a project manager, what I like most about Canto is the ability to search through metadata and quickly and easily find an asset I was looking for. I also like the ability to easily share assets, through email, dropbox, links, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the level of access we are paying for would allow more "power users" and more storage. But, we can always purchase more as the need arises.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As we all transitioned to a remote workforce, our server access was slow and unreliable. We needed a DAM that would be quick and intuitive for our whole team to use. Canto filled that need, allowing our team to find files quickly, control versions, send out via links, and even create portals and guides for our clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
My recommendation would be to evaluate what would be the most seamless transition from your current system. We tested 4 DAMs, and Canto was the best in terms of matching up with our previously-identified and working use of our server, making the transition easier on our team.
So far, really liking Canto!
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to tag and search photos really easily!
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is a bit high for storage and admin users, we feel a little constrained in those departments based on our budget. Also, the time it takes to get the tool up and running is quite lofty.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cross-department efficiency and accessibility into our best photos. Potential benefits will be replacing storing photos on creative cloud and be able to use this tool for multi-purpose.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Canto is great to work with! They were very accommodating and the training has been really great, its just taking a while so account for that, as well as resources dedicated to getting the tool up and running.
Canto Can Do A Lot!
What do you like best about the product?
For us, it's all about ease of use. The majority of our company use this software to upload, view and share content and we love that it requires very little in the way of training to get everyone up to speed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the system was better at identifying and helping us to remove poor quality images and duplicates. I also wish we could pre-define image tags so that images are always being saved to the same locations, thus making it easier to find/search for the content your looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto gives us a singular place to store all of our produced and shared content which helps to keep us organized and efficient.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a very powerful DAM tool and we have 100% confidence in it.
It depends on your use case
What do you like best about the product?
The platform was simple, easy to learn, and a very easy solution for managing a lower amount of image-only assets and information for those. It also has very thorough documentation and a great support team.
What do you dislike about the product?
This platform is really not meant for larger databases, and the fields can sometimes be changed too easily or automatically without asking during some processes like adding a new version. If you have a larger amount of assets (in the hundreds of thousands) look elsewhere.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were looking to create a database for many images and data attached to each. There were benefits in using Canto such as quickness, ease of use, and simplicity. In other aspects however, it lacked and ultimately was not a solution for our larger library.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you have a larger database or amount of assets, look elsewhere. Otherwise, for a smaller set of photographic images, business documents, etc. it's great.
Canto Review
What do you like best about the product?
Being able to put all files into one shareable space
What do you dislike about the product?
Files getting lost and having dead-end links when sharing
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Being able to stay organized and connected to all projects, new and old.
Great tool for file sharing/storing/sorting
What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy having the shareable links that can direct outside parties to folders that have their content in them. This way I don't have to use another third-party tool like Google Drive or Dropbox to share documents with clients. Downloading content is easy as well. The My Collections function is great in that it allows me select save files to the My Collections folder. This can help make it easier to find images and documents that I use most often.
I also like being able to filter by keywords and tags. It is important that your team utilize these correctly and have unified definitions in place before using this, though. However, this can make it much easier to find what you're looking for.

What do you dislike about the product?
The search function does leave something to be desired. I have found it hard to find past documents, images, graphics, etc. But honestly part of that could be just how our team names those folders and files.
While the My Collections function is great, the Following and My Selections functions seem redundant. Another downside is that the shareable links that we use to share the content with outside clients does expire. I know this is for security, but if the client does not access the content in a timely fashion, which happens often, then we have to resend it.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to share whole folders if images with our team members as well as with outside clients from one platform. We assign work to each other from here as well. Sharing with outside clients is one of my favorite points. I can share a link to the content with them without having to reupload images to Google Drive or Dropbox or Onedrive. I
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that your team is using all of the features of Canto. That is, make sure they're using keywords and tags with a unified approach. It helps with search later.
Affordable and easy-to-use cloud-based option for digital asset management
What do you like best about the product?
Canto's web-based interface is so intuitive that it's very easy to train others how to use it. Even before we roll it out to our entire organization, it has already transformed and streamlined our processes for helping internal and external clients select imagery for their projects. The searchability, speed, and accessibility of our library is enormously improved over our old system of using shared network drives that required a VPN connection.
What do you dislike about the product?
The responsive design of the Canto interface is good, but could be better. On smaller laptop screens, the full page width isn't always viewable, but I don't think that takes away from the base-level user's experience, since they have fewer options than admin-level users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our communications has a better handle on copyright control and proper use of up-to-date images because of the centralization of our image library. Canto also offers sorting/favoriting options that allow us to curate collections of images to share with internal and external clients.
Canto User Experience
What do you like best about the product?
It is intuitive and easy to use, provides a manageable way to store a high volume of photos and access what you need quickly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some further customization, for example being able to upload with specific project numbers for images that can be made generic when they are downloaded.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to more quickly access and find the images we want from a vast library.
