Great tool for organizing and sharing digital assets
What do you like best about the product?
Canto is easy to use. The onboarding process was smooth and as an organization with a large volume of photographic content coming in on a weekly basis, we like the ability that Canto has given us to manage the whole review and approval process. We also like the flexible options Canto gives us for sharing content both internally and with external stakeholders.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the user interfaces could be more improved. When sharing content with external parties, it was not always obvious to them how to download files - especially for video and PDF files.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to using Canto, it was extremely time-consuming to find photos for use in communications material. Canto has given us the ability to find images instantly thanks to the tagging and rating functionality. We have also found the custom options very useful in being able to better organize our content.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend taking the time to ensure key stakeholders across the organization are onboarded and understand how to use Canto as it is then that the true benefits of the system become apparent.
Simple Effective Media Management, as it should be!
What do you like best about the product?
I use Canto as a library for all of our organization's photography. One of the most amazing parts of using this platform in this way is the number of ways you're able to categorize the photos. We use a system built around Keywords and Tags, with some facial recognition, and it makes life so much easier for everyone in our organization when they need a specific photo and need to find it quickly!
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside I can think of is that it's an entirely 'in browser' platform, which I think could benefit significantly from being its own desktop application or being integrated in some way with the operating system so that you can add and remove files in seconds. I know it integrates with some other platforms that do that, but if you don't want to use those options, you're a bit stuck.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One of the things that I didn't expect to be as useful as it is is the facial recognition that is built into the platform. We have a lot of photos of thousands of different people and so it's really helpful that we can quickly find photos with people like our CEO in them that aren't even explicitly tagged, just because the system can recognize his face.
Canto is an outstanding DAM solution
What do you like best about the product?
The auto-tagging, facial recognition, and advanced search feature really make it easy to use Canto to its full potential. They have been invaluable in helping our organization use our time and assets efficietntly.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only negative I can say about Canto is that it is a bit higher on the price scale when compared to its competitors. However, it is essential to remember that you get what you pay for!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When we first started looking for a DAM solution, we were on multiple platforms (Google Drive, Dropbox, Internal S: Drive) and it was a pain to try to find anything! With Canto, we have been able to not only streamline the process, but enhance it with intuitive tools.
Easy to use!
What do you like best about the product?
The folder feature makes it very easy to sort through thousands of images. Able to heart favorites so easily.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were more features for sharing. Commenting and tagging other users would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Giving the broader team access to assets for different uses across the business.
Affordable and Powerful Solution For Digital Asset Management
What do you like best about the product?
Price! Overall, the most significant selling factor of Canto when compared to other solutions is the price. It is vastly more affordable while not sacrificing many features.
What do you dislike about the product?
Feature Scalability. While Canto is much more affordable, it also lacks some extra features that make the other offers so enticing. As a DAM, Canto is very usable. However, if you want to create unique brand pages (like with Bynder), you're somewhat limited with the default style guide pages. You can't get very creative with portal pages, and there's not much you can do outside of the core DAM functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Brand consistency and document centralization! Canto has done wonders for our marketing team. It has made it much easier to maintain assets while giving other team members a highly searchable and easy-to-use platform.
Organization Life Saver
What do you like best about the product?
Tagging of all photos and ability to organize items into folders.
What do you dislike about the product?
User interface isn't as visually appealing as other platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to organize and share digital assets much more quickly than before.
Versatile and easy to use DAM with great features and product support
What do you like best about the product?
The features available within Canto are well designed and well implemented. We needed a solution for managing various types of digital assets for different use cases, and Canto fit the bill exactly. In addition to the great product, Canto's implementation and support teams were fantastic and helped our implementation to go extremely smoothly.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is very little to dislike about Canto. All of the features promised to us during the sales cycle were available, and we found no "gotchas" or surprises. We could have used some more guidance about how/when to use the Portals feature, but that ended up being a minor issue in our case.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The business problem that we were trying to solve with Canto was the presence of disparate data and media availability, depending on the author. Media was being shared inconsistently across the organization and needed to be accessed in various ways instead of having one standardized way of working with our digital assets. Canto has essentially solved those problems completely internally, with the added benefit of being available to be used to share assets outside of our internal team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can't go wrong with Canto!
Not intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
That the image DAM works decently if you're only using JPGs, and you have an asset manager who accurately names and tags and organizes everything. Other DAMs I've used are similar, but Canto feels slower.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform is not user friendly. There are no AI capabilities that suggest related imagery. There are no smart folders (i.e. recents, most used). File formates other than JPGs load very slowly. Sometimes download doesn't work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto does load all previews unlike Dropbox.
Manage your assets in a whole new way
What do you like best about the product?
It's great that your whole team can see who's uploading what, well-categorized assets, and search past uploads easily with tags.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit slow to load compared to Google Drive, but the benefits outweigh the delay.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto solves the issue of maintaining a massive asset library that can be sorted and explored in various ways by a large and distributed team.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great asset management product for distributed teams.
Fantastic product but even better Customer Service and implementation team
What do you like best about the product?
The tags! You can make any thought process your team has a reality to make it easier for everyone to find! Also their implementation team was incredible and their customer service continues to be too.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I had to pick something, it would be that it is not intuitive. You have to re-train your brain and really train and learn the program. This then also means you have to teach your team. While a long process, it is worth it, and Canto does a great job at helping you through it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are making our content much more organized and easier to share externally.
