Easy handling and quick loading

What do you like best about the product?
Easy navigation, categorization as well as search function are very intuitive. The content loads very fast which I appreciate a lot when I'm looking for specific content.
What do you dislike about the product?
Automated sorting so that new adds to the categories are shown on top or at least a filter option to show latest added content so that I don't have to scroll through all the pages
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Go-to source for content including images, videos, brand guidelines etc.

Great way to host marketing assets

What do you like best about the product?
I like that you can keep the assets all organized in one place and can give different levels of access to other teams according to needs
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not too easy to move assets into different folders. It would be better if you could click and drag like with folders in your PC documents
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem of having to store large files on internal systems, and being able to identify which assets are approved for use. It has made content management much more efficient for our global business.

Perfect For Our Needs

What do you like best about the product?
We were looking for a simple solution to store our image library - but also share it with our partners so they had access to rights-free, pre-edited photography that they could utilize to help market themselves in a professional way. The additional analytics portion of the platform helps us track usage and potential exposure - a bonus.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes we wish there were more cost-effective (were a not for profit so multiple admin licenses are costly) secondary logins for our team to utilize.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to share our owned assets in an easy way was the key usage for this. This has let us provide a free option for our partners for photography and video assets - but also let us have some control in the images being used to promote our region.

Image Relay works well for Archival Assets

What do you like best about the product?
Image Relay is easy to use and provides a visually pleasing way to share archival assets with a wide variety of users.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing at this time that I do not like.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Image Relay to preserve, catalog, and share digital assets. Having searchable digital assets in Image Relay has saved time answering reference questions and pulling materials for exhibits and social media.

Great for asset cataloging

What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to create custom fields to organize assets by any metadata field.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the custom field text boxes were bigger--I write things like abstracts and event descriptions and need a lot of space to write them. They can be hard to read with the small text boxes Canto uses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing a wide array of audio and video assets can be tricky in any system. Canto helps with its many ways to tag and arrange assets.

Great Software, User Friendly and Easy Set Up & Customization

What do you like best about the product?
I love how customizable we can make this and how easy it is to create the filters and functions we need and brand it how we like it. Asset upload is par for the course with larger files but it is pretty seamless even with large quantities of larger files.
Update: they have really improved a lot of their functions since I started using the software 2 years ago and it's still improving. Items are easier to program with more customizations in filters, portals, and sharing of assets.
2023 Update: There are even more features now like integrations into more software and customizations for portals and there are more they are churning out.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much honestly. It has great customer service people as well and when slight issues occur either a glitch or when updates happen they are quick to fix either on their own or when alerted.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are helping organize assets for our brands to allow other agencies to access them easily. We also use the filters panel, tags, and keywords as well as custom fields to help organize the assets and make them easier to find for ourselves and our clients. The customized filters really gives each portal we made that unique touch and helps each customer.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want an easy to use Digital Asset Manager and plan on having multiple brands or want to help filter items and view them easier for others this is the product for you.

Canto delivers a great asset manager, that is capable of growing with our company.

What do you like best about the product?
Canto's UI is very easy to use and navigate. Inputting metadata and using it in search and filter is very easy and intuitive. That feature along puts Canto way above Dropbox or the like.
What do you dislike about the product?
Everyone could use more space. However, with Canto's cold storage option, getting more space comes at a good price. The speed of restoring assets from cold storage is reasonable, and download speeds are reliable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have 10's of thousands of assets we need to quickly find, and share with internal and external partners. Canto allows us to do that, very easily. I've also found Canto is known by vendors who we work with, which makes our workflow, that much easier.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely do your own search, there are a ton of DAMs out there. However, I would use Canto as the baseline to judge all others off of.

Helpful for organizing assets. Face recognition parameters not great. Need easier batch uploading

What do you like best about the product?
The tagging system of Canto, and having all files organized within a system. Portals are useful and helpful, and so are upload links. It is nice to have facial recognition, when it works properly. It's nice to be able to search files via tags. I also like that you can set download presets for sizes, etc. when downloading images.
What do you dislike about the product?
The facial recognition will only work if the tool was able to "recognize" a face from a portrait of that specific person first. This is not helpful at all. For example, we have many photos from events that we would like to tag people in, and we do not have any other photos of these people. Canto will not let me manually tag a person in a group photo, unless they have already been added into the system via a "more recognizable" photo. This defeats the purpose.

When you upload a large batch of folders and files, that inlude folders with multiple subfolders, Canto does not easily upload these batches. It won't upload some of the deeper folders.

It would be nice if Canto had a way to synce with your folders on your hard drive or computer. If I could set up Canto to automtically sync everything each Friday at noon for example from my hard drive, instead of me having to automatically upload files that would be very helpful.

The Adobe integrations are clunky and I haven't found them to be super helpful.

Sharing links could be more intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The peace of mind that our files are protected in the cloud, so that if something were to happen to our hard drive, or work spaces, they would be protected. It's much easier now with Canto to search for and find old photos, via the tagging and facial recognition features.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Organize all of your files beforehand. Prepare them on your external drive based on Canto's organization "rules" first. For example, Canto only likes file structures to be 3 folders deep. I would recommend paying Canto, and mailing in your hard drive to Canto to upload all of your files for you, then you can go in and organize them. It takes a very long time to do this yourself, unless you have a dedicated person 24/7.

What do you like best about the product?
The platform is extremely friendly. Easy to tag, the files are always uploaded in the correct order and is easy for my co workes to download. We hace plenty of space.
What do you dislike about the product?
Until today my experience has been great is a excellent platform very friendly and with all the features we need. I would if possible to get the chance to upload folders.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We safe a lot of time. Our people in other countries have the chance to download pictures super fast and without confusions because each photo is label correctly.
