Canto gets the job done well

  • May 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It has a very powerful image search function that makes it easy to find what I'm looking for among our many photo and video assets.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have experienced some challenges with our download setting templates that aren't just download the image in highest possible res. Trying to create settings for mass image download at lower resolutions for say, social media use, has sometimes made the photo renderings lose color profiles and overall solid quality we need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DAM solution that houses all of our brand and digital assets in one place. It's a good search platform too to find images we need for projects.

Streamlined our digital asset management

What do you like best about the product?
We have photos and videos coming to us from many different programs from around the world. Before Canto, they were largely sent by email and shared download links. No one ever knew where to find anything. Now with Canto, there's one upload link that is shared with everyone, and nothing gets into our system without a photo credit, caption and appropriate tags. Now I can find anything without emailing half the staff to help me find it. And when we use those photos in other projects, all the information moves with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
We would still love to see even more advances with AI for identifying objects in photos. We deal with a lot of artwork, and we'd love for AI to be able to identify themes in the artwork. It will catch up to us some day...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have everything in one place, and it's all beautifully organized, labeled, credited, captioned, and tagged.

Best damn DAM I've ever used

  • May 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best part about Canto is that it's easy. It's easy to use - either as the admin or as a consumer. Setting up portals, which allows me to share a few images instead of my entire library, is simple. Getting started and integrating Canto into our workflow was very smooth.
Migrating images from our previous DAM was easy, thanks to Canto support. Creating galleries and albums is all very intuitive. It's been a huge time-saver and it's something we use every single day. I can't recommend it enough.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I had another Contributor seat. Or two.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have shared drives that are very difficult to search. I'm on a Mac and the servers are indexed for PCs. With Canto, I can just log on and find my images. Even if I don't have the exact file name - I can type a description into the search window and it'll give me the results I was hoping for.

Still digging Canto after 6+ years

  • May 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The platform's continual development and improvement are why we are still customers. The new AI feature is an incredible time saver that I can't recommend enough.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is a bit rough, and the interface can be a little glitchy on occasion. The UI could use a refresh.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I was the media gatekeeper prior to Canto, so the time-saving aspect of others being able to do self discovery for the media they are looking for is invaluable.

A key asset for our companys growth

What do you like best about the product?
As a distribution company we need to share information throughout various networks. I need to curate what files go to what people and Canto has allowed us to do this seamlessly. The portals allow us share the newest and relevant files with our customers in an organized and professional way. It's easy to share the files with whomever we need. I've also found it useful in gathering information. The upload link feature has been extremely helpful working with small creators/businesses who need to send us files quickly. It automaticaly sorts them for me upon upload with some setup. It is completely customizable with metadata that is relevant to us and our audiences.

The reps and support have always been quick to assist me should I encounter any issues with the software. I don't have a lot of experience with these platforms so knowing that their is a quick response to any issues I may have is

I believe implementing a DAM platform into our software portfolio was ipmortant to supporting our company's growth. It allows our small team to quickly manage daily requests and archive all of our important files in one place. There are quite a few competitors out there but in my experience Canto offers us the best package. We've gotten the best features for the best price and it will cater to our needs as a small business or with growth; it will scale with us.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only downside I have noticed about Canto is the functionality of the mobile app. Often our employees have photos on their phone and it can be buggy to upload photos this way. When I upload through my phone, I will always log onto my computer and sort through after
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping us distribute all applicable assests to a variety of audiences

It allows us to keep all relevant and important files archived somewhere where they are easy to access and secure

Easy to use, great AI search features

  • May 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The company wide access makes organization and collaboration a breeze. The AI assisted search, such as facial recognition makes finding people easy all while maintaining privacy within the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not sure yet. So far, so good. The way we are currently set up in folders seems a little archaic, but maybe that's on our end.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a way to standardize our branding and building a stock of quality media to be used across our organization. As a school district of 20+ schools, we don't have a lot of creative specialists, so for the few we do have now can manage our content appropriately. The level of quality options has risen for all our users and schools.

Canto is *Almost* Perfect!

  • May 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Our team relies on Canto daily to store our final art files, to create our client-accessible Canto Portals, and to share art files and/or .pdf files with our clients regularly. Without Canto, we'd be stuck sharing files through an online sharing site but could not store and house these completed files. Canto Portals are easy to implement, and easy for our clients to use on their own to download their own files.
What do you dislike about the product?
Canto recently changed their search feature to improve it. I'm not sure exactly what changed, but now it's almost impossible to locate certain files using search. I've tried the filters as well and this doesn't work properly either. The search worked just fine in the beginning before making this change.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto gives us a place accessible to all of us to store our completed projects and art files. The benefit is the entire team is able to access these files and/or share them with each other.

Image Sharing Across Firewalls

  • May 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The online library and tagging system make it easy to select and share assets needed for recruitment marketing assets. It's incredibly easy to share, even with the most aggressive firewall systems from healthcare and financial organizations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not a functionality issue, but I think it's odd that I have to confirm what language I want to use each time I log in.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I primarily work with healthcare clients who cannot use filesharing sites like Google Drive or Dropbox. Canto makes it easy to upload client content from new photoshoots, and to share and select assets from the library for upcoming recruitment campaigns.

DAM! This service is awesome!

  • May 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Wonderfully simple software with great tagging ability! User interface is clean, usable, and aesthetically pleasing. Portal ability is a huge asset for showing off assets with our customers.

Frequent updates, video tutorials, and customer service quality is a huge plus!

Thanks Canto!
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes tags will disappear if I'm adding them quickly, but easy enough to get around this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Accessing photos quickly! In marketing, we use the tags we've come up with to find the perfect photo for the occasion!

Highly customizable DAM

  • May 23, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Canto is super helpful in terms of its large storage capabilities, customizability with user privileges, metadata options, and integrations via Zapier. The main aspects of asset management like uploading, editing metadata, selections, and downloads are all very intuitive with the layout of the website. Above all, their AI search is immensely helpful for efficiently locating assets and curating content from what we have in our library. I also appreciated how helpful Canto was with our onboarding and initial setup. I use Canto every day for my role, and many members of our team use Canto on a daily or weekly basis.
What do you dislike about the product?
After the first year of using Canto, our point of contact was sometimes difficult to get a hold of. Some feedback I heard from the team is that the filter panel wasn't intuitive, but we don't need to use filtering much now that AI search is a feature. Another piece of feedback that I heard from my team is that Adobe Connect didn't meet expectations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Canto helps us manage and search through our huge library of content.
