Jamf
What do you like best about the product?
Jamf has improved our day to day operations by allowing us to automate many of the manual tasks of yesterday. This allows us to run with a very lean crew
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the updates have lead to us discovering some Product Issues but JAMF has always helped us through any speed bumps.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to manage way more than 13,500 Apple devices with a small crew. No way we could do it without them.
Powerful Apple Device Management that saves times and money, especially at scale
What do you like best about the product?
As Apple’s device management journey continues to evolve Jamf has been able to be a “swiss army knife” in how it manages devices. The binary and policies for macOS are powerful tools to get things done whatever possible and as Apple moves more into the “MDM bucket” they have evolved and supported that story.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes workflows or features that are commonly repeated are not better incorporated into the product. The community in some cases, even Jamf’s own staff, create cool solutions that would be even more powerful within the core product. Even though not everyone will use it (like creating Mac user accounts using payload vs script/package), it lowers the barrier to entry to get a job done.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As Jamf Pro can be a bit of a “choose your own adventure” novel, with many pathways to achieve the same thing, I have realised the benefit of not only automating manual tasks, but putting them into repeatable and predictable series of events that’s easy for end users and front line tech staff to understand. Making hard things simple both with and without Jamf Pro Pre-existing has been a joy. The cool thing is it all depends on where an organisation is at, creating a profile to push a WiFi config, vs creating a full automated and reliably repeatable Automated Enrollment workflow for example.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try it out. You have needs, see if it fits them. No system is perfect but with the right support (aka the jamf community) you will be able to make life easier for IT and end users
Been a Jamf Admin since 2005 and love it!
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing about Jamf Pro is the support team. Always there when you need them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes needed features can take a very long time to be implemented. For example, patch management hasn't had the ability for maintenance windows since its release. There is a VERY old feature request for it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Overall, Jamf Pro is great. It is both powerful and flexible, especially on the Mac side. Zero touch deployment, and SSO login is great!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Look no further. There is no other product out there that is as good or mature for managing Apple computers and devices. Not even close.
Jamf Pro Review
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to instantly make the necessary changes to any of our Apple Products and know that it will take effect as long as the endpoint has internet access.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to be able to assign a Jamf Pro user to have complete control over a specific group. That way, we could have 1 instance of Jamf for multiple IT shops.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is our primary software distribution medium along with (through policies) preventing clients from breaking their Apple Products.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can learn as you go. It is simple enough that you can start with just enrollment and add software, restrictions, and policies as needed.
Best MDM ever...
What do you like best about the product?
Jamf Pro makes my life so much better. The portal is easy to understand, and I can get my tasks done with lightning speed. It is a solid platform, and does exactly what it is supposed to do. You don't have to wait, and you do not have to check up on it. You can work magic over your Mac and I-pad fleet. Support always answers on the first ring, and is very helpful when needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
No real concerns... It might be nice to have a "dark mode interface", or a color theme choice in the portal, or some method to pull report lists rather than just a dashboard icon. The only fault I have seen is in renaming devices, somethimes the page will not refresh with the new name, and you have to refresh the page. Not a huge deal. Works great!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ease of management, less time to get things done, manage I-pads at the teacher/classroom level.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it... Seriously... just do it. It will change your MDM life. I am 100% all in, all day. Great product, great support. Kool Aid is Cherry flavor, cold and delicous. 8-) You cannot go wrong with Jamf. Simply awesome in all aspects.
JAMF at Financial Firm
What do you like best about the product?
JAMF works really well, it does what it says and allows us to unify the Windows and MAC policies, patching, imaging, software deployments, and the Software Library.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are two things I would like to see JAMF improve on. The first is the lack of historic reporting built in. The second is the response times with support and engineering could be faster.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security Policies to match the Windows Group Policies and the Self Service for Software are the two largest impacting areas. In general I do not feel we could effectively manage our MAC environment without JAMF.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JAMF is what Apple uses to manage their environment. There isn't any better endorsement than that. This is the industry standard, one of our engineers comes from IBM where they used it on thousands of systems.
Damn it was that easy
What do you like best about the product?
How easy everything is, right out of the box I'm usually able to do pretty much anything I want. If I having trouble finding anything , the support and the community are really ressourceful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the UI elements could be better ( like modifying scripts directly from the policy settings would be something great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly keeping an eye on all of our devices , we had a really rapid growth in the last year and everything laptop related was still managed like a startup
BEST MDM on the market!
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about JAMF is, The endless capabilities of control over your devices in your domain. From naming, to pushing, to whats allowed and not allowed. From profiles, to policies, to enrollment. There is nothing JAMF can't do.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike is how great the customer service is. I mean come on JAMF give me a reason to dislike you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Able to solve the problem of controlling over 1500 macbooks, and 3k ipads, phones, and apple tvs. The benefits of JAMF are that everything is stream lined into simple and easy processes that allow you to manage apple devices in unique ways. They work closely with apple so they are usually on the same page with implementation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are wondering how on earth am I going to manage all these devices, with full control. Then pull the trigger and get JAMF!
Just the product we needed!
What do you like best about the product?
The ease and power of managing our Apple fleet
What do you dislike about the product?
We didn't get it earlier! I wish we would have jumped on board sooner!!!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Management of our fleet!
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Do it!
Their Customer Support and the Jamf Nation Community Enable your Success
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ease of reporting, whether for an individual device or groups of devices. Reporting on hardware or software, it doesn't matter. I've recently delved into extended reporting capabilities with extension attributes. This has been a game changer.
What do you dislike about the product?
Performance issues. We have a large environment and experience session timeouts, as well as working in one screen and having it send us back "home", e.g. creating a policy. Our current production version as of this review is 10.22.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing visibility into our macOS and iOS environment. We are now beginning to focus on zero-touch deployments. Jamf has made this possible, and not just for the technically aficionados.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are a lot of MDM providers out there, and I feel a lot of them probably provide the technical tools for success.
However, they may not provide the the same level customer support.
Jamf's customer success agents are available, intelligent, and willing to tackle any issue you put in front of them. This provides a level of comfort that may not be found elsewhere. I believe they are putting the necessary resources in their people to enable their clients to do more.
One other thing. There is a large online community of helpful, insightful people working through the same issues as you, and willing to share their solutions.
