My experience with Jamf has been exceptional! This is the best investment for a MDM!!

What do you like best about the product?
I like the capability to remote manage. This is a selling feature for me. Originally I was physically managing the devises withing a 1.5m square I foot facility. It was exausting. Also the ability to remotly push out changes and additions to the equiptment in invaluable. In the every changing industry we are always looking for ways to approve our processes and this software has allowed us to get these changes to the end user in rapid time. I have recommended using this software in several other areas throughout our site as well as other facilities throughout our company.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not found anything I dislike about. Maybe more server-accessible help tools would be excellent. I believe the set up of the software was the worst part of using it. The set up was super complicated for a new user like myself. Given most of the complication comes from Apple and their requirements to be able to use the MDM such as certificates, apple business manager, apple config and so forth. As far as Jamf goes, the technician responsible for my onboarding was exxellent in walking me through over remote video the steps to complete all of these tasks. They actually walk you through setup giving you hands on knowledge as to how the software works and why certain fields are required.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving the issue of manually having to touch every device within our facility. The most significant benefit is the time savings. Originally we were having issues keeping devices in working order to where the employees needed to be. We also has a lot of issues managing wireless connectivity throughout the plant due to the settings being unlocked and IPads ability and urge to connect to networks other then networks needed.
Also, as anyone could imagine managing 100+ devices at any given time is a struggle. This software allows me to manage the devices as a whole when needed or individually when needed.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jamf pro has been the best investment for our organization in managing our mobile devices within our facility. I would highly recomment this to anyone with a large group to manage. The ROI on this software on time savings alone has been amazing.

Use of Jamf Pro just continues to expand as we discover more and more applications for the system

  • June 15, 2021

What do you like best about the product?
The best part of Jamf Pro is the granularity to which systems can be automatically managed. We are a university, with several colleges and staff units using macOS and iOS devices. We have our campus device management divided up using the "Sites" feature within Jamf Pro such that each unit is constrained to their own devices and can not access those of other units. The central support group provides overall management and development of the system, as well as customization of scripts and advanced features.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface in some places can be a little confusing. We have had a couple of instances where a user meant to delete a payload within a policy, but instead accidentally deleted the entire policy. Jamf has been working on clarifying these areas, as well as making the entire UI more friendly. The only other thing that I would request as an important feature is related to this, and is the implementation of a trash can/recycle bin metaphor when objects are deleted. This would provide a valuable safety net.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a lot of macOS and iOS devices, and not a lot of staff to maintain them. We have also received more and more directives from our Information Security group as far as hardening systems and making sure that patches and updates are deployed. Jamf Pro has made all of that more automated and easier to implement. We also have created a build chain for both office systems and lab environments such that completely automated and hands-off builds are possible. This saves a great deal of engineering time when an entire lab (or several) can be set for a build and then left to run on their own. Any failures can be quickly identified on the dashboard that the system provides as the landing screen on login.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jamf Pro is the 300 pound gorilla in this market, but it is also an excellent system and is quite customizable and flexible.

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the ease of the portal, throwing stuff up and just making it work.
Jamf's customer support is also really good.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would be really great to have a way to download packags straight from the portal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Jamf to upgrade our OSX versions, and every day I realise more and more, it is such a great tool and I am constantly finding new ways and new features.

Perfect MAC MDM

What do you like best about the product?
JAMF Pro does more than you think it can, want to do something JAMF PRO does it! It is my 'co-worker' and saves me hours a day. Plus the Jamf Heros and Jamf Nation communities are awesome. Self-Service is a godsend as it's a curated 'app' store and I have all programs, printers, configurations, and even websites in it for staff to use. There are integrations from Google and Microsoft as well as many other companies that extend the usefulness of Jamf Pro well beyond the base system at sometimes no cost.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes support takes a bit to get back to you, that said when they do they are helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
iPad and Mac Deployment, App deployment, locking down assets for security, deploying updates and new software.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
While it can have a cost higher than other, they offer more than others. An online community that is like nothing else, attentive Mac admins who support each other and a company that does listen to feedback

What do you like best about the product?
The funcuonality and security, Jamf Pro proives users an experience like no other MDM, support is just a phone call away.
What do you dislike about the product?
In all honesty, i only wish Jamf and the ibooks section will work slightly better. But that also comes from apple which they dont make it easy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Biggest problem is doing things in bulk, Automation with jamf pro allows less hands on for techninians on the field.

Great MDM product for Higher Education

What do you like best about the product?
We like how it makes it easy to manage our Macs. We currently don't use it for mobile devices, but all the same, we are delighted with how it can show us our current inventory quickly, and fewer machines go "missing."
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great if "JAMF Connect" could be seamlessly integrated. Currently, you end up putting in your password two times to log into your machine using Azure Active Directory. I am hoping that this will be simpler in the future. This issue isn't JAMFs fault. It's a limitation from Apple
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had no accurate inventory or management of our Mac fleet. Now machines can't just walk away as they are tied into the Apple School Manager and passed to JAMFs PreStage enrollment. Now we always have track of our devices. Also, when we had to switch to working from home, we could push fixes remotely rather than having to have the machine in our hands.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
We have had great results with this. Also their training is amazing. We have only had a couple of issues that we required help with and the support staff were great.

Great tool to provision and manage your Apple devices

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple and easy-to-understand interface. Setting up policies for software distribution is a breeze, and makes our deployments easy and consistent.
What do you dislike about the product?
Patch management can be better. The process is super easy for the products that are supported but still have to be fed the source file. That is understandable for apps that need codes or customization before release, but there are others that could be pulled automatically (Chrome, Firefox, etc.) There are also some critical apps (for our environment at least) that are not on the patch management list. Having a way to add to that list would be great.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
A single place for Apple device inventory, and configurations has greatly improved our processes.

The best MDM solution for Apple devices

  • June 08, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Option for cloud based Jamf Pro server. Clutter less and user-friendly interface with dashboards and status for policies and patch management. Composer is a great tool that helps to create software packages to be distributed via policies. User-initiated enrollment process is straight forward which is suitable for non-IT users. A lot of tips on managing Apple devices can be found on Jamf Nation, which is the largest Apple IT management community in the world. Great customer service supports with constant follow ups from the assigned technician on any oustanding issues.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smart Group's Criteria could be improved by offering more choices. Package upload and refresh time could be faster, as it takes time to wait for a new package to be ready and available on Jamf Pro. Add more third-party software to patch management feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to manage Apple device centrally without having to connect to company networks. Allow only authorized software and software updates to be installed via Self Service. Ability to restrict unauthorized software from being installed on users devices.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Among the MDMs that I previously used, Jamf Pro is the best. It's better than the rest when it comes to its user interface and functionality. Their tech support team is also reliable and always ready to help.

Jamf Pro is great for managing all our Apple devices.

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of deploying software and managing settings.
What do you dislike about the product?
Just minor issues that affect Self Service becoming unresponsive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Adding firmware locks on Mac OS and having Find My Device override for iOS makes it very easy if an employee leaves.
