True distributed cloud file system

  • April 28, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Lucid was the best solution to go from having 1 office to having hundreds of home offices. It allows employees to work where they want and when they want. There is no need to large equipment overhead and we were able to move our files to the cloud and gain the benefits of its uptime and reliability.
What do you dislike about the product?
You do lose a few file-level permission and auditing features. As well Lucid is still in startup phase, support is slow and often the person with the answer is not in your time zone.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were able to move users off the VPN and provide an experience similar to working in the office, yet they can work just about anywhere. We were able to do this without investing in more local resources or equipment.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Realize that you can not get all the features and performance in one package, what is more important. Lucid excels in performance.

LucidLink has been essential for me and my team.

  • April 26, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
In a remote environment, LucidLink has provided the connectivity my team needs. When building the team and our workflow, LucidLink solved many of the problems we were struggling to find solutions for. We use Lucid as our primary server, storing video assets, adobe project files and any ancillary content. We often have contractors edit directly off the server in real-time, replacing the need to purchase and ship hard drives around the country. The support team is always quick to respond and has several fixes for any hiccup we may encounter (though there have been few).
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest downside of LucidLink comes only when internet connection is poor and our ability to access the server suffers. This is no fault of the product, in fact, there are fail-safes to manage this such as pinning media locally from the server to bypass slow speeds. One small suggestion I have for the team is to add more notification features - for example, when an upload of media is completed, a user can be notified.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Saving money on copying and shipping footage to editors in different locations. Quickly sharing graphics and other assets with people working from different locations.

The best cloud storage there is

  • April 22, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Speed and ease of use. It's very good and very secure.
What do you dislike about the product?
Would like built-in support for mounting and monitoring multiple drives.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Remote workers looking at full quality media in real time, patching and changing files and only uploading changes rather than entire files.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simple to use and works across a wide variety of OSs. Plug and play with lots of 3rd party software such as Baselight.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very few but would love to see an iOS/Android app.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working globally on projects as well as the ability to expand our nearline storage rapidly. This makes us more agile and allows us to interact with our partners at greater speed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There are so many clear business cases for this product that everyone will find a use for it.

Absolutely brilliant for remote collaboration in Post Production (Final Cut Pro)

  • April 14, 2022
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
As a production company for international TV broadcast stations and streaming services we have fallen absolutely in love with Lucidlink. We produce about 100 minutes of broadcast TV, documentaries, and entertainment shows per week on final cut pro with editors spread all over the world. Lucidlink has enabled us to not only share projects but most of all have an editor anywhere access, stream and edit with proxies on any kind of mac. Lucidlink has brought us through the pandemic and completely changed our workflow (for the better). We highly recommend Lucidlink to any production house.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many features still require the use of Terminal or for someone to have coding skills. But customer service is always willing to help, so this is not a big issue. If we were to complain about anything it is this. Film and TV production companies/producers rarely have any knowledge of or interest in coding / using the terminal :) Make all options available via "one-button solutions".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Remote working. Remote editing - anywhere on the planet.

An excellent Cloud Storage solution for media and motion assets

  • October 28, 2021
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
LucidLink's caching technology has made it possible for us to have cloud-based workflows for our remote motion artists and editors throughout the pandemic.
What do you dislike about the product?
LucidLink's dependence on Fuse on macOS has been a speed bump in the migration to macOS Monterey. But I expect that a fix will come soon.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We now store our active motion assets in the Cloud on S3 compatible volumes. Our remote artists are able to work without downloading or shipping drives.
Our closed projects are also on LucidLink with those on more affordable cold storage cloud volumes.

The best cloud storage solution on the web

  • September 04, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The option to integrate with different storage providers like AWS, Azure, Google and etc is incredible. Another perk is the option to work on very large files without actually downloading them on your local disk.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not enough popularity for the solution, but I guess this will come with the time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main issue that I have with any other similar solution is that you actually need to download the file to your local disk which is not always an option due to the limited size of the SSDs.
Another benefit is the excellent pricing that the company offers compared to other solutuons of the same type.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is free 2 week trial and it's a must for everyone to try this software as long as they need cloud storage with option for multiple user access from different platforms.
