Experience with the Avanan email security service.
What do you like best about the product?
The way it is able to detect and block malicious emails. Also personally I am fascinated when our current cloud solution is not able to detect malicious emails but when they pass through the Avanan filter they are detected immediately. And also the opposite when our cloud mail solution detects the mail as malicious and it turns out that it is a false positive that in effect Avanan does not detect it either. With this we see the great efficiency of Avanan.
What do you dislike about the product?
At the moment I have not found something that I do not like about the platform. The only drawback if you can say so. There was a time when I opened a support ticket for a specific purpose and the support gave me a different solution and not the one I was looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Last year we acquired this solution to be able to combat phishing emails to our organization.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
My advice to other people who are evaluating their possible Cloud Email Security solutions is to evaluate as much as possible from each provider. Analyze from the smallest detail that sellers offer. Request a demo of the product to evaluate how functional it is for your organization. If possible, enter into a good negotiation if there are other sellers competing on value for money.
Excellent tool that greatly improves security for Office365
What do you like best about the product?
Avanan Cloud security has greatly improved the security posture of Office365 for us. It catches so many things that Microsoft ATP misses. The interface looks great and is easy to use. I am amazed at the job it does with Phishing, Spam, Malware, and with DLP. I use the tool daily and would not want to be without it. Tech support is very good and responsive.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not much of anything to say as far as dislikes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We rely on Avanan to protect our users from Phishing and Spam, We rely on it to identify potential DLP of PII and it does a great job. Previously we were relying on Microsoft ATP for this, but since we deployed Avanan, we realized how much was getting through or being missed.
Outstanding Cloud Security & Value
What do you like best about the product?
Avanan is very easy to deploy & integrate. Configuring is a breeze and pretty intuitive. The software is extremely comprehensive. And reporting is fantastic. And the price is very reasonable for the services delivered.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is very little to dislike. I would love to see a little more control over the interface, an ability to clear alerts I know longer wish to see, and just a wee bit more spit and polish. My complaints are VERY small...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
An ability to protect customer cloud accounts against SPAM, Malware, Phishing, DLP, and visibility into Shadow IT and other anomalies.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend this product to everyone looking for a comprehensive security platform. Too many others require multiple solutions to provide the same level of protection. Avanan's ability to integrate with Microsoft DLP is an added bonus. The product is included in basic start package that all customers must agree to use and has set the bar for other products on the market.
Enhanced Detection Way Beyond M365's Offerings
What do you like best about the product?
Once configured, it is a "set it and forget it" product. I just does its job without daily tinkering with settings or constant Admin console vigilance.
What do you dislike about the product?
When looking at a flagged entry, it takes a bit of time to learn how to navigate down through the many security alert links that can be presented. Also, users have requested to receive a daily digest of quarantined messages (similar to M365's report), but this option is not available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Improving the phishing detection that M365 offered.

So easy to integrate. Works great catching things that used to take me hours to find and take care of.

nothing. it was great! so easy to use.

We were always getting the usual send me pictures of gift cards phish and Avanan killed it right away.

For all and upcoming Avanan users lets use the product as often as possible and provide feedback to the vendor to help them improve this solution which will benefit everyone in the future.
Avanan is rock solid email phishing protection.
What do you like best about the product?
Avanan techs help you set up your domain in minutes. It is easy to use with very few false positives.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have had absolutely zero problems with this product.

I can feel secure that Avavan is doing the best I could expect against phishing attacks.

With cyber crime on the rise, this is a rock solid investment.

The integration with O365 is excellent and seamless.

The trial is very limited, it only allows for 5 users.

Reduce and virtually eliminate spam and phishing emails.

Easy to use GUI, just works blocks tons of phishing and malware. Like the shadow IT it detects and that it scans all of 365.

Little pricier than our last solution but they worked with us on the price.

Avanan - Simple and Works
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity to implement and use. Accuracy of results. They are a solution that works like they describe. I have used other products such as Mimecast, and I am happier with Avanan. I believe the key difference is the way they integrate with Office 365. Avanan is more API based and compliments Office 365's security whereas Mimecast is more of a separate solution which you can direct all of your email to them. One of the things I really like about Avanan is that they work for both the internal and external emails. Therefore, email from someone internal goes though Avanan and than back to someone internal.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have no complaints. Avanan was brought in to solve a problem and they worked. They are fair on cost, their solution advertised is what you get. They are easy to implement and support is great at responding within a timely manner. Overall, I have recommended this to my former company as I am pleased with the results. Additionally, anyone reviewing Avanan they will setup a POC and you can start seeing results almost immediately.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We were using Office 365's standard security and unfortunately we where getting multiple phishing and spam emails. After implementing Avanan that has almost eliminated that issue. Additionally, Avanan has also provided us an insight into our Shadow IT. It is much easier to address a problem when you can see what is being used.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Setup a POC, it is very easy to implement and integrates seamlessly with Office 365. Once your POC starts you will already start seeing results. It is an added feature that Avanan also scans SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive so if I file is shared it will still get scanned.
