Unhappy with onboarding experience
What do you like best about the product?
Too early to tell; they asked me to write this review when I only onboarded onto the product a week ago. So far there's lots of integrations and thos seem straightforward to set up.
What do you dislike about the product?
On account setup, after attaching Slack, they messaged all our users to install Vanta Agent. As the IIT admin, I hadn't made the choice to adopt this -- I didn't even know it exists. I don't want the software asking people to install software products I haven't decided on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a business dealing with sensitive data, we need SOC 2 to assure our customers that their data will be safe with us. SOC 2 isn't actually a good measure of that, but it's what the market expects.
Saved us a ton of time and money with our compliance process!
What do you like best about the product?
The platform is very easy to use and provides templates for getting started. As a small business, this was crucial to our ability to achieve compliance quickly. Using Vanta helped me ensure we were taking care of everything and their seamless audit capabilities really made choosing auditors easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
There aren't too many bad things. Their trust page option is not as feature-rich as others on the market. Also, the examples are very US-centric. As a European company, we had to do a few tweaks, although this wasn't a really big deal. Of course, the price is high, but if I add up all the time saved, it pays for itself many times over.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have no dedicated security staff as we are a small team of 10. Therefore, this has made compliance manageable! Both with time saved and knowledge provided. It does the work of at least one full-time expert person.
Effective and easy to use platform solution
What do you like best about the product?
Good portal structure, helps to proceed on the compliance processes.
Connectors to different vendors (like AWS, Azure, ...) helping a lot to automate tests.
The templates to build policies are awesome, helps a lot.
Also now there is a EU based system to it also fits to our policies.

What do you dislike about the product?
For policies, documents you can provide external artifacts like word or pdf documents.
But I prefer to not have external assets and use the internal editor as well.
The editor lacks of some standard WYSIWYG features like anchor tags, embedded image support.
The review process to approve (policies) do not allow to return with comments, or mark the content so the editor understands what to do (this has to be outside in an extra communication thread). Imho this has to be part of the process.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a startup we need to get compliant and certified with different framework (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2). Vanta helps us in a big way to reduce time and support with a lot of content.
Also, that external auditors can access if a great feature. Customers can use trust center so we have very little work on exchange compliance information with customers.

A great help for small businesses on their journey to compliance.
What do you like best about the product?
Account discovery, automated control checks and numerous integrations all help Vanta stand out. I like that Vanta policy templates are written to satisfy requirements from multiple compliance frameworks, making future improvements to our program easy to work towards! Features are continuously added and improved upon.
What do you dislike about the product?
It seems that Vanta is optimized for big customers and, while sufficient, the support available for small business administrators making their first steps into a compliance program isn't as comprehensive as it could be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vanta is helping us keep track of policy acceptance, security training, SSO signins from accounts in our IdP, workstation compliance, and all the yearly reviews you could think of!
Excellent customer service
What do you like best about the product?
Their customer service team's responses have been quick, polite, detailed, and a ggreat help. Their templates are easy to use. Their instructions for users are intuitive.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are times with their templates when it is hard to figure out the mapping from what we have to what needs to be there. If we start from scratch filling in the blanks it could be fine - but we certainly need lawyers to figure out what to transfer from old docs to their format.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We develop software. Our clients want assurances that that software is SOC2 compliant. Vanta gives that assurance AND greatly streamlines our process for becoming compliant. They walk us through things step by step.

What do you like best about the product?
Vanta helps to educate me about compliance in an interactive way. I have a technical systems and technical security background, so being able to learn about controls and compliance targets in parallel with implementing them is a huge value.
What do you dislike about the product?
The "walled garden" effect. Vanta has an excellent suite of 3rd party integrations, but it is not (and realistically never will be) exhaustive. It would be excellent to see support added for customers to develop their own integrations for their preciese use cases.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Vanta helps to provide insight into security and compliance gaps in areas that we don't know to check manually. The automated nature of Vanta helps not just with compliance monitoring but also with discovery.
Vanta helped us easily go through our SOC2 audit process at our own pace.

What do you like best about the product?
The platform is easy to use and the resources are excellent. This isnt just about compliance - the policies and frameworks are well written and really helped us to shape our information security approach. The support team are great and respond fast to questions.
What do you dislike about the product?
In my first audit i was informed that the core of the audit is the Statement of Applicability. This is presented from Vanta as just one of many documents but not a priority so some kind of guide to prepare you for audit would be good. I understand now that the SOA is autocompleted which will be more helpful in this year's audit.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed to get ISO27001 compliant fast as it was becoming a block for customer acquisition. Vanta got us there fast and i was able to upskill quickly so i feel confident about our information security management
Vanta has modernized our managed compliance services.

Reduction in complexity though guidance and automation. Tasks that are due notificatiions help drive the work needed to meet timeline goals.

No downside found yet. Bugs or issues discovered were quickly and professional addressed.

The automation has proven to be particularly advantageous, allowing teams to focus on strategic security initiatives.
