Fast and easy onboarding for a great documentation tool
What do you like best about the product?
Simplicity! It is a time saver to have all my documentation in one place.
The "people" tab is very insightful. Having an overview of all the documentation created by one team is so helpful and inspiring for other teams/regions.

What do you dislike about the product?
No complaints yet. Everything went smoothly. I look forward to diving deeper into this fantastic tool to bring my team and knowledge to the next level. I'm sure I'll get all the support needed from Castor if needed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is very convenient to have access to all documentation from my company across the regions. I can reuse what other teams already create and align more with the global strategy. Starting from scratch is always a pain, and Castor is a reliable tool to avoid move forward faster.

Fantastic tool to visualise data assets, definitions and lineage
What do you like best about the product?
Castor is helping us enormously in our migration efforts from our old data infrastructure to the new. It is helping us fast-track our delivery in many ways:
1. Identifying assets that are frequently used in the old and prioritising those for migration
2. Identifying unused or minimum used assets for retirement and deprecation
3. Identifying who are the frequent users to assign owners of data assets
4. Identifying impact of changes we intend to make on downstream assets/dependencies
We now have the potential to unify our data definitions across our data assets and avoid duplicating or contradicting definitions.

What do you dislike about the product?
Product is constantly changing, so sometimes challenging to keep up with the pace. Alongside this change, we have seen some bugs creep in, but Castor has been super efficient in resolving issues that arise.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problems we are trying to solve include:
1. simplification of our data pipelines as we transition from the old (complex and convoluted) data platform to the new
2. consistency and visibility of definitions across all areas of business
3. establishing ownership and governance of data assets

What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to have more control on data user can see.
Sometime I feel that some process are still very manual, but things are improving a lot.
Also, we're using a lot of markdown in our description. Sometime, the way it is displayed is not that clear.

Castor help me a lot to identify
- unused models
- models that are not fed anymore but still queried
- lineage with Looker
It helps me to win a lot of time for those "administrative" task.

A great data catalog
What do you like best about the product?
It's really easy to use Castor for data documentation or find informations about our data.
I like the Lineage feature, which allows us to easily see where the data in the dashboards comes from.

What do you dislike about the product?
In the past we have had some synchronization problme but the support is always very reactive to fix it. Sometime we need to contact them to perform some actions that are not yet developed in the product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Castor allows us to have a single source of truth about our data. Employees of teams other than the data team can become more autonomous in understanding and using the data.
Our team loves Castor!
What do you like best about the product?
Castor has a very smooth UX and the team is always coming out with great new features like sync back and AI. The company also has a really responsive customer success team as well which has been a huge help!
What do you dislike about the product?
We didn't start with all the integrations we needed, but the team has been adding these quickly - very pleased with how they've addressed
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our organization uses a lot of data and much of it is decentralized. Castor helps us centralize our documentation and improve our data discovery. It has reduced a lot of manual work on our team.
Great experience working with Castor software and team
What do you like best about the product?
The entire team at Castor has been very collaborative while we worked through the process of starting data governance at our organization. I have felt a high level of communication with timely responses to any of the users' questions our team could come up with. The features promised by Castor include our Data Catalog, Lineage, Governance and Knowledge base are all top-of-the-line tools for our team.
In addition to the things listed above, the Castor team has always been willing to work with our engineers to evaluate new integrations and features that we quickly released in the software. If something is not available today, it will be soon.

What do you dislike about the product?
Data governance is a challenging conversation to have in any organization. Castor makes this conversation easier once we have information flowing into the software. Many of us could use a playbook to motivate our organization so we can use the tools sooner.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are reducing the time our lean data engineering team spends documenting new objects in our data warehouse. Castor also enables us to use this integrated environment to onboard new analysts. The main benefit is time saved on both data delivery and consumption ends.
The ultimate data catalog
What do you like best about the product?
Castor is my go-to tool when I have any doubts about the definition of a field, where to find it or the dependencies it may have.
It's very user friendly and they are adding more and more functionalities that adapt to our needs.
Having this connected with our visualisation tool is an amazing improvement. We can see the most viewed dashboards as well as the data sources they use and a direct link to the dashboard.

What do you dislike about the product?
The option to export all downstream nodes of a column or field is not as detailed as it could be (e.g. link to dashboard)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Where to find the data I need and the definition of it. The lineage is a lifesaver when we want to change any of our core tables.
Best tool for data democratization
What do you like best about the product?
Since getting Castor, we've been able to streamline and standardize our data documentation, resulting in improved data discovery and usage. We've also seen a significant reduction in data-related inquiries, which I would estimate at 50% decrease over the past year. This has freed up so much time for our data team!
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing that I dislike about Castor
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As we scaled, we were dealing with greater data volumes, and a lot of people could not find their way in the data anymore. The tables were not documented enough, resulting in many recurring questions to the data team. castor completely solved this data discovery problem.
Business users love castor
What do you like best about the product?
The UI is very smooth and friendly. We thought that we would have trouble with adoption, but everyone keeps coming back to castor because it is very simple and intuitive. They have already incorporated Ai in the product which makes it much better for business users to understand SQL queries
What do you dislike about the product?
At first, Castor did not have all the integrations that we were looking for, but they have built these incredibly quickly
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- misalignment around metrics and KPIs
- Having all our documentation in one centralized place instead of it being scattered across different tools
- Productivity of the data team who receives much less requests since we have incorporated Castor

Fantastic tool for data discovery and documentation
What do you like best about the product?
The easy to use interface and the speed of finding the relevant assets that you're looking for in your database.
I also really enjoy the score given to each table, lets you prioritize the results of your queries by how often ceratain data is used.

What do you dislike about the product?
Integration with Snowflake was pretty quick, but we had some issues with syncing our data for a while.
The support was pretty quick and everything works, but sometimes it still shows that the company is new and they have to iron out some details.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's primarily a data exploration tool for people writing SQL in the company - where to find data and which tables to use + a unique feature of Castor: some query inspiration from other users.
