Gives us confidence in data pipeline changes
What do you like best about the product?
Castor has been a game-changer for my team's effectiveness. When our source data changes, we can easily determine which dashboards are affected and which ETL code needs to change.
Castor's velocity in releasing new and improved functionality is impressive; we delight in seeing the new feature announcements.

What do you dislike about the product?
This isn't a dislike, more of a feature request. I would like to be able to download the lineage diagrams in a diagram format so I can include them in documents (instead of a screenshot).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Complete visibility into data usage patterns and dependencies - this allows us to focus on the most crucial work with confidence.

What do you like best about the product?
Castor is very straightforward and easy to use, navigate, and search to find our data, determine what it is, and how it's all connected. It's been a vital resource in helping build out and maintain our vast data bank.
I also love that it is continuing to advance its capabilities and features. They are receptive to feedback and requests and make things happen for our use cases.

What do you dislike about the product?
A little more automation with copied descriptions would be helpful. There are instances where data is the same and we have to copy and paste multiple times in different areas.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have an immense amount of data coming from different pipes, at different times and Castor helps us understand what that data is, where it comes from, and how it is being utilized. It is a place that any employee, in any department at our organization can go to find what they need.
What I love about Castor
What do you like best about the product?
Castor is an amazing solution for sharing information about data, relationships, and business logic with my whole team and beyond. It provides clarity and insights into a lot of our different data processes and keeps them all in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
A current struggle we're facing with Castor is that it is almost entirely self-contained, so we don't have a good way to sync information out to other places where we store documentation. This leads to some level of fragmentation of information sharing across teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Castor primarily as a tool for documenting information about our data, its lineage, and then sharing that out to the company. Castor provides that last-mile visibility that we otherwise wouldn't have.
Castor is a great data cataloging tool for the modern data tech stack. esp for SMBs
What do you like best about the product?
Easy integration with the tools I use like Snowflake, Sigma Computing and DBT. Simple and clean user interface
What do you dislike about the product?
Many of the integrations are still in their early stages, like Sigma Computing, so there is limited functionality right now.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I've built a modern data tech stack from scratch at Strategus over the last 8 months and Castor is an awesome tool to capture knowledge about that tech stack.
Perfect tool for data lineage
What do you like best about the product?
- Being able to identify the table and column lineage, from the staging tables all the way to the BI tools such as Looker and Power BI
- The popularity index, which allows to identify the most used tables and most viewed dashboards. It has been helping with our deprecation plan.
- The search bar is very powerful because it allows you to filter by table and column names, as well as dashboards.
- The platform is being constantly updated with new features.
- The support team and very responsive and takes into consideration our feedbacks.

What do you dislike about the product?
- The column lineage can be helpful to identify if the column is being used downstream. However, if the column is only being used downstream to create new columns, the lineage doesn't idenfity this dependency. This makes it hard to identify any column dependencies if we want to deprecate a staging table.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping us with our deprecation plan, by allowing us to identify which tables and columns are no longer being used in an easy way. It also helps with us with data discovery, because the tool allows us to quickly find the columns that we need to for certain data operations.

Castor has all the essential features to make your data discoverable, self describing and trustworthy.
The navigation through Castor is simple and intuitive, which makes it usable and useful for the whole company (and not only for data people)
The product roadmap is very rich and brings new features to the users every month.
The team is very nice, reactive, helpful and customer-oriented.

What do you dislike about the product?
I'd like to have more detailed statistics on the usage of the data catalog to organise the knowledge sections for the best. But I believe that this feature is coming soon...

Castor helps:
- data governance to promote the official sources of truth among all the data stored in our datawarehouse
- data users to understand where the data comes from, what it means and to use it
- data users to contact data owners
- all the employees to discover the different business entities of their company and get to know the relating key data assets

Lovely Data Catalog
What do you like best about the product?
Castor is a visual appealing "buy" solution for Data Caralog. It comes with vital features like lineage, column level document and also owners etc. these are critical for self service analytics
What do you dislike about the product?
A bit pricy now haha, would also be great if Castor incorporate the elements of data quality and data profiling, which are valuable

Automatically update the schema of tables, ownership, documentation etc

We have had a great onboarding experience, both technically and in terms of prioritizing focus areas. The tool is very user-friendly and gets new features frequently.
What do you dislike about the product?
It doesn't show the entity relationship diagram of our databases, but it seems to be in Castor's development pipeline.

Document terminology for our applications. Seeing data lineage. Assigning data stewards.

Access to metadata only, so the SQL queries need to be run from outside of Castor.
