Cloud Storage at best price and Performance
What do you like best about the product?
Nasuni delivers reliable performance at a budget-friendly price, meeting the demands of modern applications.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface could be significantly improved to enhance usability and streamline workflows.
Nasuni requires spinning up multiple VMs, which adds complexity and overhead to the deployment.
The platform functions as a black box, limiting flexibility — I am unable to install custom software or tools needed for our specific use cases on the underlying machines.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Nasuni has proven to be a cost-effective solution, especially compared to traditional storage systems. By storing data in object storage (blob) and only requiring payment for the local cache disk, I've seen a noticeable reduction in storage costs across all my workloads. Additionally, all workloads are performing as expected, with no observable performance degradation.
Solid produce with absolutely amazing customer support
What do you like best about the product?
They provide an easy way to store, control, and work with our data. UniFS allows us to scale globally with gigantic volumes yet provide the performance of a local server.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nasuni is catching up with web access. The solution works great out of the cloud, but still depends on SMB/NFS protocols. Advanced Web access IS a huge roadmap for Nasuni this year
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scalable cloud storage run out of our AWS instances with the ability to provide local fast access
Nasuni has provided a robust company wide standard for our unstructured data.
What do you like best about the product?
Nasuni is an inexpensive platform that inherently provides backups, DR and fault tolerance. Nasuni is simple to use and administrate. Implementation is heavily supported through their customer support and advanced support teams. The end user does not realize their data is on the cloud due to seamless integration.
What do you dislike about the product?
The concept of Nasuni is difficult for managers to understand. To explain the huge cost benefits; storage, replication, backups, DR and ransomware protection (among other offerings) must be combined in order to show simplicity and cost advantage. Explaining the way Nasuni works to combine all of these services into one solution is difficult at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Nasuni is providing low-cost storage with HA, DR, backups and ransomware protection under one solution. This benefits us by reducing cost, administrative effort and complexity.

What do you like best about the product?
I think the biggest thing is their willingness to jump on issues. I can always count on Nasuni to go above and beyond on any problems we may have.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would say this is minimal, but sometimes I wish they could work a little deeper on getting answers to some issues they've never seen before.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving our data storgare problem. This helps me becaucse it stores our data and takes the preasue off us locally
Perfect for a growing business.
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to handle data growth without the worry and time required to continuously grow our storage provision.
What do you dislike about the product?
There nothing not to like about Nasuni products.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data protection, ransomeware protection and recovery options.
Great for disaster mitigation
What do you like best about the product?
I love that everything goes to the cloud and you can have a cold spare in a different location to migrate your data to. Just do a simple disaster recovery and its all there! Customer Support is very quick to reply when you need help for the times you need it.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some features do lack, suck as the ability to access logs yourself. I would like to see more features being included in the subscription isntead of an extra.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed something to offload our old data and this does it perfectly while still enabling access to it. The bonus of easy disaster recovery and migration are also nice.
We moved all files shares to the cloud with Nasuni
What do you like best about the product?
Nasuni's ransomware protection is a fantastic feature. The fact that they snapshot the files every 5 minutes and keep those snapshots as long as we need them has improved our backup and recovery posture significantly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Nasuni had some functionality to cache files on the local PC for users who connect over VPN. Depending on network connection, the speeds for remote workers can be very slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Nasuni helped us free up a large amount of space on our SAN by offloading all our file shares to the cloud. We reduced our overall number of file shares, because Nasuni provides a great way for decentralized teams to work on the same set of files regardless of their location.
Excellent platform to share and secure data across multiple sites
What do you like best about the product?
availability and easy to restore files from snapshots in case it is needed
What do you dislike about the product?
nothing specific to dislike to be honest
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
sharing files across multiple sites
Cloud data management that achieves cost efficiency with advanced data protection features
What is our primary use case?
I am currently using Nasuni for seismic data. We have a huge data size, and we want to reduce costs. Nasuni acts as a caching solution, so we put some data into the cache, and the rest goes to the blob, which helps us save on costs. We use it for applications like Petrol and Tech Log, where 3D modeling is important.
What is most valuable?
The features I find most valuable in Nasuni are the unlimited snapshots, antivirus capabilities, auditing, and ransomware protection. Version control is also helpful, as we have almost all of our Nasuni deployments on a single version. Although upgrading involves some downtime, it's easy to upgrade and manage version control.
What needs improvement?
I suggest Nasuni improve their syslog forwarders to support TCP protocol, as it's more secure than UDP, which is plain text and not protected at all. Also, there should be improvements in automated load balancing since scaling requires manual load balancing.
For how long have I used the solution?
I have been working with Nasuni for around four years.
What do I think about the stability of the solution?
On a scale of one to ten, I would rate the stability of Nasuni as nine.
What do I think about the scalability of the solution?
I rated the scalability as seven because even though the solution can scale, load balancing must be done manually, as it's not automated.
How are customer service and support?
I rarely contact tech support, as we usually rely on our technical account manager. My interactions with tech support are limited to two or three cases a year.
How would you rate customer service and support?
Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?
I have experience with NetApp and EMC Isilon. However, the solution choice depends on specific requirements. For instance, cloud support led us to choose between Nasuni and NetApp.
How was the initial setup?
The initial setup of Nasuni is simple. However, setting up monitoring and alerting increases the complexity to a medium level.
What about the implementation team?
We managed the setup in-house without any integrators or consultants.
What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?
I prefer solutions with lower pricing. I would rate Nasuni's pricing as eight since I consider it to be reasonably priced.
Which other solutions did I evaluate?
Compared to Nasuni, main competitors are NetApp and EMC Isilon.
What other advice do I have?
I would recommend Nasuni to other users considering their data requirements. Overall, I would give Nasuni a rating of eight.
Which deployment model are you using for this solution?
Public Cloud
If public cloud, private cloud, or hybrid cloud, which cloud provider do you use?
Other
Nasuni has reduced storage costs, replacing on-premise legacy storage with a hybrid cloud approach.
What do you like best about the product?
Nasuni is easy to deploy and their support staff is top notch. The best part of the deployment design was choosing to use DFS to obfuscate the new UNC storage destinations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Data migration into Nasuni (w/ Azure cloud) can take a long time and needs a lot of babysitting. This problem is not unique to Nasuni.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Replaces on-premise storage hardware which is costly to operate and reduces our power and space consumption in our data center.
