Finally we are stopping those annoying bots and protecting our customer accounts
What do you like best about the product?
I am actually fond of how Cequence Security blocks account hijacking. Credential stuffing used to be so much but currently, it is almost zero. Their API security is amazing too and filters out all kinds of bad traffic even before it reaches our back end. The actual time detection and blocking ensures that we have an upper hand over the malicious actors. It simply works in the background keeping anything and everything at bay. This offensive protection is a game changer to our customer confidence.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are even times where setup is a little complex and it involves incorporating with all our other systems. Using the detection rules involves quite some time and experience in order to make them just right. We also note the that reporting dashboards could be more user friendly when looking at executive summary. It would not be a significant problem but certainly would be something to take into consideration. All around it is do-able but does have a learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There were numerous cases of creating fake accounts and even checkout fraud in terms of credit cards. It was such a challenge to our security and the fraud department who were perpetually on the tail of the incidents. Cequence now auto identifies and prevents these complex attacks in real-time. We have reduced our fraud numbers to a great extent and our human resources are able to concentrate on actual threats. Our customers are also more secure as their accounts are more secure.
Cequence Security finally made those relentless bots disappear
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Cequence Security is its powerful ability to detect and mitigate sophisticated bot attacks, especially things like credential stuffing and account takeover attempts. It's not just blocking simple scripts it catches the tricky ones that mimic human behavior, which is crucial for protecting user accounts. The other standout feature is the comprehensive API discovery and inventory capability.
What do you dislike about the product?
One challenge with Cequence Security is the initial setup and fine tuning of detection and mitigation policies. Getting the balance right requires some expertise and ongoing adjustments to ensure you're blocking bad traffic without impacting legitimate users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cequence Security is primarily solving the critical problem of automated bot attacks and API abuse against our public-facing applications. Before implementing Cequence, we were struggling to keep up with automated credential stuffing attacks causing account lockouts and dealing with malicious scraping attempts impacting performance. We also lacked full visibility into potential vulnerabilities in our extensive API ecosystem. Now, Cequence automatically detects and blocks these sophisticated attacks in real-time, significantly reducing account compromise attempts and protecting our valuable API endpoints from exploitation, allowing our team to focus on proactive security work instead of reactive incident response.
Before Cequence Security we didn't even know how many shady api calls were happening
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Cequence is definitely the visibility it gives us into our APIs and web applications. The API discovery feature is a huge win; it helps us find and catalog APIs we didn't even realize were public-facing, which is critical for security planning. Another standout is its ability to detect and block advanced bots. It goes beyond just simple rate limiting and uses behavioral analysis to stop scraping, account takeover attempts, and other sophisticated automated attacks without blocking legitimate users. This makes a real difference in protecting our data and maintaining site performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing I've found challenging with Cequence is the initial configuration and tuning phase. It requires a bit of a learning curve to get it perfectly dialed in for your specific environment and traffic patterns. While the dashboards are informative, sometimes drilling down into the specifics of a particular incident or bot signature could be more intuitive. It's powerful, but getting the most out of that power requires time and expertise upfront.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cequence primarily solves the problem of protecting our critical APIs and web applications from automated threats and targeted attacks. Before using it, we struggled to keep up with sophisticated bots and had limited insight into the full scope of our API attack surface. We were often in a reactive mode, constantly responding to incidents like account takeover or content scraping after they happened. Now, Cequence provides a proactive layer of defense, automatically detecting and mitigating these threats in real-time. This has significantly reduced security incidents and freed up our team to focus on other important tasks instead of constantly chasing bot activity.
Feeling much safer about our applications and data
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate Cequence Security's comprehensive approach to API security and bot management. The API discovery feature is fantastic; it automatically maps out all our APIs, including undocumented ones, which gives us critical visibility into potential attack surfaces we didn't even know existed. Their sophisticated bot defense is another major win; it accurately identifies and stops advanced malicious bots that simple WAFs miss, protecting our applications from scraping, account takeovers, and fraudulent activity. It feels like a robust layer specifically designed for today's complex application threats.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area that could be improved is the initial setup and fine-tuning, which can be quite complex and requires significant technical expertise. While the platform is powerful, the dashboard can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming with the amount of data presented. Getting very specific, customized reports tailored for different stakeholders can also take some effort to configure properly. It's definitely a solution that needs dedicated resources for optimal management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cequence Security is primarily solving the problem of unknown or poorly protected APIs and sophisticated automated attacks that bypass traditional defenses. Before using Cequence, we were dealing with frequent credential stuffing attacks and lacked visibility into our full API attack surface, leaving us vulnerable. Now, Cequence automatically discovers those APIs and actively blocks sophisticated bots in real-time, significantly reducing successful account takeovers and malicious scraping. This has greatly reduced the burden on our security team and substantially improved our overall application security posture and confidence.
We finally found all those weird apis and stopped the bad guys using them
What do you like best about the product?
Cequence Security is good for providing strong API security and effective bot detection. It provides more than just traffic regulation; it monitors complex behaviour of bots that even look like real users. In practise, it helps us prevent attackers from taking over our accounts and keeps them from accessing our backend data, providing details of the methods they use.
What do you dislike about the product?
While Cequence is very useful, setting it up takes time and a lot of effort. We had to work out the details and use expert advice to incorporate it into what we use currently. It was necessary to learn a bit before we could use the customised dashboards properly which made the system not very user-friendly at the start.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cequence Security is primarily solving the major problem of sophisticated online fraud and API abuse driven by automated bots. Before Cequence, we were constantly reacting to account takeover attempts and scraping, often overwhelmed by the volume and complexity, leading to compromised user accounts and unreliable data. Now, Cequence automatically identifies and mitigates these threats in real-time, significantly reducing fraudulent activity and protecting both our users and our business operations without constant manual intervention.
Now our team can finally proactively block threats and bot attacks!
What do you like best about the product?
The good part of Cequence Security that I have most appreciated is how well it is in identifying multiple threat types including bots and app threats. It works well with other systems that we have in place now like our SIEM so that in real time we are getting threat information without adding to our workload. It’s particularly useful because it doesn’t generate many false positives, and this helped to enhance our security as well as our response time.
What do you dislike about the product?
One problem with Cequence Security is it is hard to dial in the right amount of specificity for more specific or uncommon threats. It’s good for threat detection in the broad but adjusting some things for niche security concerns was hard. This sometimes results in either losing the value of alerts or creating so much noise that it hinders our speed to respond to critical events. It also works with other tools, but while the sync is a bit faster between platforms.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The protection of our web applications using Cequence Security has been a game changer, and especially in the case of zeroing out automated bot attacks. This allows us to remediate vulnerabilities before they become major headaches for our web traffic and leaves it as secure as possible. It automates much of the threat detection such that our team can focus our effort on higher priority tasks than burking in alerts. Reducing manual input in security tasks and significantly increasing operational efficiency.
The peace of mind we needed in our digital world
What do you like best about the product?
I am really fond of how Cequence Security solves the problem of protecting our APIs and web applications. This is a game changer for us because it can detect and mitigate automated attacks in real time. This used to take us so much time from monitoring and responding to security incidents, now we can do other things. What’s more, the platform’s machine learning is helping us save time and resources by learning from new threats and adapting to them.
What do you dislike about the product?
So do not take me wrong, I still believe that Cequence Security is a great tool I still think the interface can be confusing sometimes. So as you can probably imagine it gets very confusing when one is trying to navigate in between all the features and sub features. Furthermore, as with any kind of system integration, there have been one or two incidences where the system did not entirely harmonize with other security appliances that we employ hence leading to a slightly disrupted operation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cequence Security helped us solve our automatic threats and protect our APIs and web applications. Our platform deployment saved us many hours following up on security alerts and later blocking potentially dangerous IP addresses. Since using Cequence Security's automatic threat monitoring our security incidents decreased while allowing us to focus our time on other essential work. The platform made our team more productive and provides real security reassurance.
Protecting web applications from automated threats has never been easier!
What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Cequence Security is that it provides all round protection to web applications against all kind of cyber threats. What has been critically important in securing our online services is that the platform does a great job detecting and thwarting automated attacks like bots. I also like how smoothly it fits within our existing security setup: the simple connection to our SIEM system so we can centralize security monitoring and incident response.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cequence Security may be slightly cumbersome to set up initially in some areas particularly when defining the rules to use in fighting certain threats. The software, on the other hand, is rather strong and valuable but it did take some time to get them optimized. Also, the reporting features can be more realized and they are simple in use. It becomes slightly difficult to retrieve detailed information should this be required and this at times makes our response rates relatively slow during an incident.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Cequence Security has been something of a lifeline to counteract these bot driven attacks that threatened our services. This means that a number of various fraud attempts have been successfully detected and prevented and out systems remain operational without the need for constant interference of our security specialists. There are now fewer issues that require our attention on the operational level, which in turn allowed for increasing attention to security and implementing more preventive systems.
Effective measures for advanced cyber threats
What do you like best about the product?
I like the way that Cequence Security always protects us from advanced attacks, without overwhelming us with too much noise around the alerts. The software is always updated, and the repeated updates ensure the software is always reliable enough to stay ahead of new attack methods. Its resource efficiency impressed me as it doesn’t interfere with our systems or screw up workflows – a great thing for a busy environment. That’s reliable and quietly gets the job done in the background.
What do you dislike about the product?
The one downside of Cequence Security is that there is no straightforward communication between platforms on a single dashboard. Some parts are not as clear as others when trying to fix a potential threat, which is why it can take additional time to get the details worked out. Because we’re trying to interpret the data, this sometimes slows down decision making. Explanation or contextual insights would be provided better way for making quick and confident act when a time sensitive issue arises.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In many ways, Cequence Security has really done a good job at making the proverbial problems stemming from unwanted traffic or malicious activities as minimal as possible. That's why it is enabling a safer environment for our operations so we can operate with growth without constant fear. It prevents attacks early thus reducing stress for our team and keeping things going smoothly. We are able to focus on delivering better results, unaffected by security concerns and become more productive and confident.
Review from Leading Beauty Retailer Digital Operations
What do you like best about the product?
Cequence has been able to protect our Ecommerce website from bad actors and threats that are out there for the past 6-7 years, so we can focus on delivering exceptional experiences to our Guests. We know in this modern era, bad actors and threats are always a notch up and come with suphosticated attack patterns. Cequence has been partnering very well with our own internal Risk and Security team and also with our Operations teams seamlessly. We adopted Cequence very early on. The implementation was smooth and they also supported us through our Digital Transformation journey when we moved from On Prem implementation to Cloud. They bring constant changes and innovation to their platform whcih help us stay upto date in this space.
What do you dislike about the product?
One downside of having Cequence in our Ecom website traffic flow is that they are inline between our CDN and Cloud Layer, especially since they are deployed in a different cloud provider than ours. We would have preferred for them to be more closely located in the same Public Cloud provider as us and in the same region. Also another major concern is the false positives that occurs at times. Totally understand the complexity, but would be nice if the systems can reduce the false positives to NIL :-)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
