Highly capable NLE

  • August 25, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ability to fine tune edits with great precision and accuracy. Trim modes are a game changer. Love the ability to have custom font size / colour within the NLE.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes tedious to maneuver within the timeline for simple edits. Sometimes weird bugs exist.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am solving a need for more content in the broadcast and digital world. Some of the benefits I have realized include having a sure fire and rock solid NLE to work and rely upon.

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can do all of my editing in one program. I have the ability to take many file formats and create the product that I want with the ability to add graphics, edit sound and much more.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like that only certain file formats can be imported while others have to be linked.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I realize it helps me to be able to edit for the best videos for our stations.

I use Media Composer for many different editing applications, both personal and professional.

What do you like best about the product?
There is no more professional editing application than Avid Media Composer, period. There is a reason why most film and television is still cut on Avid. It is truly the gold standard for video editing.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be very difficult to use, and this is why many get frustrated with it. Though it is worth it to learn the software, the very steep learning curve can be a deterrent to those that have an interest in using it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The goal is to constantly improve production workflows and turnarounds, which is not always easy. Media Composer helps to make these types of things easier for me to do on a daily basis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You MUST get some prior training in order to make Media Composer worth your while. Otherwise, there will be a lot of frustration when trying to learn the software. It is difficult, but incredibly worth it once you have learned how to use it.

What do you like best about the product?
I think it does a good job at organizing clips into a sequence and I can easily teach others to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think that the user interface is a little challenging to use. It takes time to understand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for editing video at our company. I prefer it over premiere because of its wide range of tools
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I think the program could be more user friendly. Helpful tips on start up would be nice

Avid Media Composer is the best NLE program

  • May 30, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Avid is a robust, powerful editing program that my company has used for 25 years. It is incredibly stable, barely crashing and has enough built in effects and color grading capabilities to get the job done. Too many bells and whistles on Adobe Premiere/Suite, Avid is much more compact.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike not being able able to ingest .flac audio files, but that's about it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As an assistant editor I am always looking to improve workflow within Avid. Currently, Quite a few of our systems crash whenever the key color tool is opened up. Very disruptive but it seems to be a version/OS problem.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Media Composer might be old but the fact that it has outlive Final Cut and is standing up to the new "Star Child" in Premiere shows that it is a reliable tool that works and won't be easily replaced and hopefully won't need to be. I very much approved of Avid Media Composer.

A very solid video editing solution

  • May 26, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that Avid Media Composer is very clearly a leader among video editing solutions. The resources available for it are enormous.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've been more accustomed to Adobe Premiere, so Avid is a bit of a change for me. Although, if you are well versed in a similar editing software, Avid shouldn't be a total fish-out-of-water situation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am searching for the best video editing solution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You should definitely take advantage of the free trial. You are investing a fair amount of money into video editing if you are looking at Avid, Premiere, etc. Take advantage of trials to really find what is best for you.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the way this program deals with media organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has a bit of a learning curve but nothing worth doing is easy!

We are editing TV spots and web content for our clients. Being able to manage all the media with the file structure is great.
