Offers a free version that is easy to implement

  • April 02, 2024
  • Review provided by PeerSpot

What is our primary use case?

I use Postman from time to time to test real-time API connections.

When I receive documentation regarding API services, I use Postman to verify that the explanation in the documentation I received is working as described. In general, the tool is good for testing purposes.

What is most valuable?

The most valuable features of the solution are drafting requests, pushing the standard, and receiving responses. The tool's basic operational stuff is valuable.

The automation testing capability is something that I haven't used. In the past, I have used SoapUI to automate tasks, but I haven't tried it in Postman. I was not even aware that it was possible to automate tasks in Postman.

What needs improvement?

Some features related to the automation of tasks need to be added to the solution. The tool may already have some automated testing features, but I haven't discovered Postman's full operational status. When I need the tool's automated testing features, I will certainly have a look at the documentation.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been using Postman for four years. I am a user of the tool.

What do I think about the scalability of the solution?

Stability-wise, I rate the solution a nine out of ten.

The stability of the product has been better since last month.

Which solution did I use previously and why did I switch?

I have experience with SoapUI. The environment where I work for the moment is more Postman-oriented. In the past, some government departments in Belgium were using SoapUI. Postman is similar to SoapUI. The features in SoapUI, for instance, the automated testing features, are things that I don't need at the moment. Postman performs how I like it.

How was the initial setup?

The product is easy to implement. You need some knowledge to implement the product. As I was more or less familiar with SoapUI, I could very easily pick up the way Postman works.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

I use the tool's free version.

What other advice do I have?

The product is not used for collaboration but for testing purposes in my company. In short, I use the product, and it is not used for exchanging or exporting data. I use the product at a very personal level, considering its API-related capabilities.

The tool performs well enough to meet my expectations.

I rate the tool an eight to nine out of ten.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I have used Postman for API testing for my Java project. It is very helpful for backend API testing, also there are multiple ways in which we can send and receive our data from the API.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is GUI intensive and it has limited offline functionality.
Apart from this, the documentation of the errors that occurred should be properly written.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Suppose you are a Full Stack Developer or someone who is working on the backend, You are working on a project that has some API's and you want to test whether the dataset received from the API is correct or not, The Postman tool will help you a lot, apart from this, If you have integrated Security to your Website or Backend It Also allows you to pass the tokens and the params necessary for your API.

A review of Postman

  • March 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is a helpful tool that is Api-First oriented. The principle was developed a decade ago and Postman has many features to perform API governance. Postman illustrates Automate Programmable Interface like a product. The documentation of an API is a starting point. From there, I may reach the code and add multiple tests. Postman is available online and also on several Operating System.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Api client lacks of archives for the previous versions. Besides, It is complicated to reach out to the support team payment issues. In addition to this, The Api client moves from an open source initiative to a licensed software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The issues sorted out are numerous. Firstly, Postman resolves the methodology to develop Automate Programmable Interfaces. Postman is an API client that provides solution for unit tests, scenario tests or validation tests.. There is an opportunity to work without sillos through Postman.Besides, the API client is a helpful tool for API monitoring, API observability and API governance.

Communicating with other team members is very easy and it improves our overall output too.

Fastest way to test API endpoints

  • February 21, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easily organize many APIs and their endpoints, the ability to use placeholders and set environments, automatic prettifying JSON (input). Good support for different types of authentication, very clean UI, just works very efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
Rendering large JSON responses can get a bit slow, no numbering of JSON items in a list when collapsing (no easy way to see e.g. number of items in response).

Sharing with team members is a paid feature.

The editor to add documentation is limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Ability to quickly test API endpoints with different settings & environments.
Document how to use APIs and individual endpoints.

The one and only option for api securty testing

  • February 20, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There are lots of tools for api testing, but none of them provide integration for proxy and more collaboration-based functions, like the ability to export all collections to JSON and import other collections. They have really good user-friendly interfaces, and the best thing I feel is pre-request scripts. Pre-request scripts are really helpful for me as a pentester.
What do you dislike about the product?
When we try to import a large collection, most of the time it will crash if you have low specs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Shearing API endpoints, knowledge and requests from the development team to the security team will be kind of hard if post-man doesn't exist. and getting the requests in burpsutes( a testing application) will never happen without  postman proxy.
