What do you like best about the product?
DB2 has a graphical monitor that allows you to observe the execution time of an SQL statement and correct details to improve performance.
It allows managing both conventional relational data and XML data without the need for transformation, a capability that is unique in the market.

What do you dislike about the product?
Slowness in creating and executing queries. It uses a lot of RAM for installations and software usage. DB2 has a high economic cost for personal licenses.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allows to speed up the response time of a query
Retrieval using index-only access.
Correlated predicates.
It has summary tables, replicated tables, hash joins, and uses a combination of external security and internal access control to protect data.

It is undoubtedly one of the best databases.

What do you like best about the product?
It's very well integrated in mainframe. Unexpendable to coding for banks and big companies.
What do you dislike about the product?
Outdated interface, but it's integrated on mainframe so it's ok.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing big amount of data for banks and any type of companies.
IBM DB2 'was' good
What do you like best about the product?
IBM DB2 is a fast database manager that allows multi-platform integration. It has a massive scalability, as well as a continuous availability in case any issue arise. Trust is what it offers.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is becoming an outdated technology, as most of the IBM techs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am working with an AS400, which has DB2 integrated. The problems solved are the integration with multiple external services through a well documented API.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Fast and scalable, but there may be better options in the market.
Amazing database language by IBM
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the way it has a different syntax than the traditional RDMS SQL. For ex: In order to create an alias for a table name, you have to write a query separately with "create alias aliasname for table name" instead of a traditional table name alias name syntax.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's difficult to put to use especially when you are building applications in a specific company IDE. What I mean to say is if you are working with Visual Studio, it's better to write queries in SQL Server Management Studio due to its ease of SQL Server storage on cloud and interaction.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am an IBM certified DB2 Associate.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Must go for it if you are using IBM tools and Team Management systems like Lotus Notes or Rational Team Concert.

IBM always trustworthy and a stable DB experience

IBM's quality has stayed with them since they beginning. Not always the most beautiful looking GUI's or platform, its functionality is unrivaled.
What do you dislike about the product?
Ease of causing errors or shutting down systems due to incorrect key strokes. But this is what builds a strong IT technician, making sure not overlook important details.

Having a Database that can run small to large firms. Solidity and trsutworthiness.

Its costly if your switching over or implementing, but IBM products are always a benefit.

It has an excellent ability to manage high volumes of data and is easy to use, the tool is friendly to the end customer

the installation is usually a bit tedious, it requires very implicit professional knowledge to be able to use the tool and requires a high level of hardware so that it can work effectively

It provides considerable robustness, additionally, it has the ability to handle high volumes of data, it is highly recommended to be implemented in systems of financial entities and large companies

A little difficult to get working correctly. We had to contract out to get the reports we need created

It provides us with business reporting.

Make sure you either have a good relationship with your IBM vendor or hire a database guy

Ability to export query results is a bit cumbersome.

Backend database for enterprise system.benefits involve reliable data management and stability
Love DB2

It is low maintenance and great for our SAP landscape.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not many programmers around that can understand that the language.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's best for use in a BW landscape for reporting purposes where you need fast data fetching. As compared to other traditional DBs, I feel DB2 is lightweight and less complicated.
