Accounting system for non-profits and Salesforce integration
What do you like best about the product?
Thoughtfully broad system that satisfies varied accounting needs for our company.
We have a variety of types of needs (e.g. Education for Schools, Graduate Program, Conference Events program and Philanthropy to name most of our key programs). There are many aspects of this system that really help us have a central program to handle it all. PLUS, they Intacct integrates with Salesforce and Nexonia to streamline and customize our busiest work.

What do you dislike about the product?
Increasing issues with updates to existing product. Instead they have created *new* products that you have to add to your subscription - rather than updating the existing product that it directly relates to. (e.g. Report writing and cash management.)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Import of CC transactions via Nexonia to help get all of our receipts and charges managed by the employee and into Intacct faster and easier for our Accounting team. Custom Invoicing integration with Salesforce CRM. Management of pricing and products with Intacct that updates Saleforce too.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider the integrations that you need too. Review not only Intacct, but also the systems that would be nice to have import and help you get your data into Intacct.
Great software
What do you like best about the product?
great user interface that is very intuitive. Love the dashboard feature!
What do you dislike about the product?
some of the best features like custom report writer/ budgeting are add on modules/features
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We moved from an old antiquated accounting software to Sage Intacct and now our processes are faster and more streamlined.
Flexible dimensions and excellent custom reporting make Intacct a fantastic accounting suite
What do you like best about the product?
I implemented Intacct for my organization after doing a lot of research and demos for 3 main reasons:
1. Custom reporting doesn't require a degree in Crystal Report writing and database setup
2. Being able to set up and work with multiple dimensions, like departments, programs, funding sources
3. Greatly increased visibility to managers and decision makers via dashboards
Other accounting software can do some of these things, but I haven't found a system that does them as easily or as well.

What do you dislike about the product?
Like many accounting systems with lots of features and flexibility, Intacct is built to work with large manufacturing and distribution companies as well as small nonprofits like my group. The pricing structure may make it difficult to afford for small nonprofit companies, regardless of how well some of the features work for nonprofits. Our organization can only afford the core module, and adding just one module which includes some of the features we need would more than double the annual cost. So we've had to look for less expensive solutions outside the Intacct ecosystem.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Things like budgeting/forcasting, analysis of historical data, quick answers for leadership or auditors, are all made easier and quicker with the extremely flexible AND user friendly custom reporting features.
In our small group, I'm the only accountant, so "separation of duties" is difficult to say the least. But we are able to use electronic approvals and signatures, and the Purchasing menu, so that non-accounting staff can help us stay in compliance.
Intacct allows us to make adjustments and reclass transactions easier while still maintaining an appropriate audit trail.
Managers and decision makers now have a much higher visibility in real time of how their programs are doing financially. We used to have to export data to Excel, fill out template reports, to print and give managers on paper.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Anyone considering changing accounting systems will have to weigh the cost against the benefits. Can you afford those slick features? Sometimes settling for less automation and efficiency may be necessary to keep from blowing your budget. Just make sure you have a good way to measure the value in time savings and efficiency, and being able to more clearly see where you're headed financially by gaining features your current system doesn't have.

What do you dislike about the product?

It is very easy to learn and is multifunctional.
Intacct for Non Profits
What do you like best about the product?
We love the ability to use dimensions in Intacct. It makes pulling reports so much easier. We can slice and dice information any way want to as long as we set it up properly,
What do you dislike about the product?
We would like the ability to do invoice approvals through the system without using the purchase order module. Our company does not have purchase orders, but would like to automate and speed up the approval process for invoices.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are learning to control our expenses better. I have created so many reports that managers can run different analysis on expenses and adjust accordingly.
This software will meet your needs
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to analyze in so many ways. The flexibility of dimensions.
What do you dislike about the product?
That you can't reclassify certain entries.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fund accounting. We have many revenue streams and are able to track the revenue and expenses for these streams easily through dimensions, our funders really appreciate our level of detail. We are able to import from our database to simply large volumes of transactions that used to all be manual. The time savings is incredible.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
talk to someone who has been using it, would set a bit differently if had to do over.
Sage Review
What do you like best about the product?
We have been able to streamline our vendors. We have been able to create report in a variety of formats which allow us to analyze the data in a number of different ways.
What do you dislike about the product?
Dont really utilize support. haven't found it useful
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Streamlining of our vendors being able to pay vendors more efficiently.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
efficient system
Easy to Use
What do you like best about the product?
The layout and organization of the software is easy to use. They release new updates quarterly which improve features of the software.
What do you dislike about the product?
Custom reports take a long time to build because it takes a while to get all the Account Groups set up. It sounds like they have made improvements to this feature but I haven't tried it out yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have been able to streamline and sync the accounting records and processes of several sister organizations to since we began to use Sage Intacct. This has enabled comparison of financial records, effective communication within the accounting software and consistency among several organizations.
Overall happy with product
What do you like best about the product?
That it is fully cloud-based, and we don't have to maintain servers, backup, and that it's a big improvement over our last platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lacks the Banking features (loan/deposit) needed for the Church, and configuration options are complex.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moved off of paper-based check request processing, ability to approve invoices from mobile devices. Better access to information. Flexibility and capability to create reports and dashboards that meet the users' needs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure your integrator is an ERP integrator and not just an accounting firm that thinks it knows how to implement technology solutions.
