Seamless integration features for multi-cloud environments with significant challenges regarding security and support

  • September 21, 2023
  • Review from a verified AWS customer

What is our primary use case?

It provides cloud network management and security solutions that enable organizations to seamlessly integrate and manage their multi-cloud environments. This includes services like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). It offers a unified platform for the efficient utilization of these cloud services across various use cases and purposes.

What is most valuable?

Its exceptional capability to seamlessly integrate with various cloud services makes it the preferred choice for multi-cloud deployments. Other similar services lack the same level of integration and ease of use.

What needs improvement?

There is room for improvement regarding enhancing its security features in response to modern cybersecurity challenges. This includes implementing advanced security measures like multi-factor authentication when connecting with various technologies and during login processes. Additionally, the user experience could be improved by offering more practical training courses, helping users understand the purpose and capabilities of Aviatrix, especially in scenarios like archiving systems. Offering temporary subscriptions to external users could boost adoption and usage. Clear communication of policies, terms, and conditions is also recommended to ensure users are well-informed about what can and cannot be done. These enhancements would provide a more user-friendly experience.

For how long have I used the solution?

I have been working with it for over a year and a half.

What do I think about the stability of the solution?

Based on my understanding and knowledge, I would rate the stability features of the system at around six or seven out of ten.

How are customer service and support?

The direct support from the Aviatrix team has been lacking. We haven't been able to get the necessary support and guidance from them. Ensuring practical training and support are areas that need improvement from the Aviatrix side. While other phases of deployment might be promising, the absence of adequate support has limited the understanding of the tool's potential benefits, especially compared to experiences with other cloud providers like AWS. I would rate it six out of ten.

How would you rate customer service and support?

Neutral

How was the initial setup?

The initial setup was very easy. It is primarily theoretical and there's a need to dive deeper into practical setup and usage. You believe that once individuals gain a deeper understanding through advanced certifications, it could lead to broader adoption of Aviatrix, potentially benefiting other organizations as well.

What about the implementation team?

The deployment process depends on machine usage. My experience with the tool has been limited due to insufficient support and information from the Aviatrix team. Unlike other services I have used, the Aviatrix team hasn't reached out to provide guidance and answer queries. This lack of communication has led to hesitation in using the tool, due to potential risks.

What's my experience with pricing, setup cost, and licensing?

During the initial phase, it operates as an open-source and it's a free tool. I do not have in-depth knowledge of it yet, but my initial impression is that it appears highly interesting and worth exploring further.

Which other solutions did I evaluate?

Our company primarily relies on Aviatrix for managing AWS, even though there are other tools available in the industry.

What other advice do I have?

The communication channels related to access need improvement. Maintaining proper logging would enhance transparency and understanding for employees and others. There's a need to evaluate whether area mechanics can replace the database in UCB without affecting services, which requires a better understanding. These improvements encompass not only security but also communication channels, business growth, employee understanding, and knowledge sharing with others. I would rate it six out of ten since it needs a lot of improvement.

Which deployment model are you using for this solution?

Hybrid Cloud
