Great networking product for versatility.
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to install VyOS in the virtual environment and on standard physical computers to help resolve complicated network scenarios. I also like utilizing the Linux back end to extend the capability beyond the typical router setup.
What do you dislike about the product?
The main downside of VyOS is currently the lack of a GUI. For me personally, working in the command line my entire IT career, it is not an issue, but some of my colleagues would prefer a GUI to help them with configurations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I utilize VYOS for site-to-site VPN, virtual routers in our virtual infrastructure, and at our many sites as a network diagnostic tool, including speed tests and multicasting testing.

Solid routing platform for an ISP
What do you like best about the product?
It's open source. The fact that it can be installed on cheap, readily available hardware. In our case, coming from EdgeOS, the config structure was very familiar. It is very stable. We have been using it increasingly for ~2 years now on an eBGP network and have zero issues. 23 of our 50+ sites have transitioned to VyOS. Every VyOS router we have installed I have walked away from and never came back for a problem. They simply just do what they are supposed to and don't break. We now have 5, and soon a 6th site with multi-gig capacity using the MS-01 hardware.
What do you dislike about the product?
I cannot honestly think of any downside or reason to not consider VyOS. But I would say that we do not ask a lot of our routers. Basic eBGP, DHCP, and now soon, IPV6. So we are not using a lot of the other features that may have issues that we are not aware of.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Originally we had a WISP network built with EdgeOS running OSPF. After reaching around 50 routed sites OSPF became unstable in EdgeOS and we began looking to VyOS to replace it. At the same time as we began that replacement we also began transitioning our network to a full eBGP network. The combination of events solved the OSPF issue, but there were a handful of EdgeOS routers on our network that were still causing issues. Power cycles and/or lock ups randomly. We have been rebuilding those troublesome sites with all new equipment, and swapping EdgeOS with VyOS based routers and so far the problems are gone. ( It could just be a grounding issue with the EdgeOS based install and the rebuild solves that )
Also, when we first began to deploy VyOS, EdgeOS stock was non-existent due to the post-pandemic stock shortage. So being able to drop VyOS on almost any hardware was an extremely nice benefit. At some bigger sites we have it virtualized and that is working well also.
