Excellent solution for handling volumes on AWS
What do you like best about the product?
This solution can be easily managed through a web-based portal, which makes it easy to manage and monitor my volumes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Some advanced features can be implemented only with CLI (command-line interface) which can be a challenge for non-advanced users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently, we are in the process of implementing this solution, but it is already possible to see benefits in terms of managing volumes from the Netapp ONTAP portal.
Easy for deploy and management
What do you like best about the product?
Easy deploy and well integration with on prem.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have much experience to tell what I am disliking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving data to the Cloud, and having clear cost for that - easy management and integration.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very well for tiering and cloud oriented workloads.
Cloud Volumes ONTAP has the rich data services NetApp customers need
What do you like best about the product?
Support for SnapMirror, dedupe, and Flexclone
What do you dislike about the product?
The performance of CVO leaves a lot to be desired, as does the lack of scale-out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
DR/Backup to and within AWS is the primary use case. For customers who rely on SnapMirror and are reaping the benefits of NetApp snapshots and flexclones, CVO is unparalleled in its efficiency both operationally and financially.
Uniper SE CVO Trial / POC
What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility of the platform and low (ish) cost base
What do you dislike about the product?
incompatibilities between CVO and ON-premise NetApp Filers
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moving to a transition platform for moving files services into Onedrive and Sharepoint online
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Compare CVO to Azure Netapp Files as this may be a more performant service for your application needd
Great product
What do you like best about the product?
No more hardware! No more maintenance pain.
What do you dislike about the product?
AWS version doesn't have Service Processor
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data Centre cost gone, don't need to deal with Support for hardware issues
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Taking all cloud advantages
cvo has provided a vaiable soluion for DR offerings.
What do you like best about the product?
The most beneficial aspect of CVO is the ability to easily scale and tailor instances to the needs of the environment. Adding disks, changing aggregates and balancing the cluster is all available with just a few clicks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Trying to manage a large environment from cloud manager is difficult. The footprint for cloud manager has to be dramatically increased in order to recognize any benefit from trying to manage on prem clusters through cloud manager.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our instance of CVO was constructed to serve as a DR storage solution for our C2 and C3 applications. The ability to quickly scale and adjust aggregates is beneficial both in terms of time and cost.
NetApp Cloud Volumes OnTap allows us storage flexibility
What do you like best about the product?
Cloud Volumes OnTap allows us great flexibility to provide storage for our applications.
We can add new volumes in minutes. We can clone volumes to make current production data available for application development and testing in just a few minutes.
We can add new volumes in minutes. We can clone volumes to make current production data available for application development and testing in just a few minutes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Using Cloud Manager to manage the Cloud Volumes can be somewhat difficult. It requires getting used to a new way of managing the volumes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Cloud Volumes for application NAS storage. This allows multiple servers in our AWS cloud to access the same storage volume. And by utilizing clones, the cloned volumes can be used for application testing without having to make a complete separate copy of the production data.
Excellent all in one monitoring tool
What do you like best about the product?
Cross platform integration with the most common software vendors including VMware
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a stand-alone product with a separate GUI from existing enterprise toolset
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Made it easier to manage the environment
Legacy app to cloud
What do you like best about the product?
A legacy application was dependent on enterprise class CIFS support. Cloud ONTAP enabled the application to be hosted at AWS w/o compromising CIFS support /w SnapMirror support for DR.
Per instance performance constraints were overcome by logically segregating shares across multiple instances. Enabled us to get the application in the Cloud with minimal changes from a bare metal data center to continue its evolution.
