Nice dev environments and file / db migration between each

  • March 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the nice features of Pantheon is how easy it is to migrate from a dev environment to production. As most WordPress developers know it's difficult to migrate files and a database between local, dev, staging and production environments
What do you dislike about the product?
Not being able to ssh into the containers is a big draw back. For most users i'd think Pantheon is sufficient to host their WordPress website. Then there are people who want access to their entire infrastructure. I'd like to b able to use my own image maybe with a base image from Pantheon and have ssh access to the container
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easily hosting WordPress and developing in multiple environments while allowing people on different teams to continuously contribute content.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a WordPress environment to easily develop on with a hands off approach to your infrastructure Pantheon is good. If you expect surges in traffic, high traffic sites and full control of your environment you may want to consider one of the big cloud providers AWS/GCP/Azure

Pantheon performs better than I ever expected.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon prioritizes customer service, security, and optimized site speed over everything else. If you want top tier customer support from your hosting platform, Pantheon is definitely the company to pick.

I always enjoy the fact that I know I can consult Pantheon and if they don't have the answer, they will themselves consult and email the answer. They also periodically check up on every ticket open, so they don't neglect you as a customer no matter what.

Pantheon really is the best platform out there. I use it for all clients that I can and have always been very pleased.

Pantheon also integrates with Git and is extremely friendly with it. I love how it is built into the system. Their Dev > Test > Live is also extremely wonderful and the test environment gives you a snap shot of features you changed or added while also showing the results in a locked down environment.
What do you dislike about the product?
Price can be steep, especially for smaller sites / clients where all the bells and whistles aren't needed. Sometimes tier 1 needs to consult tier 2, which can take more time (this is normal though...) Also, Windows and terminus do not always get along well. That is possibly my biggest gripe personally, is I wish they would have more solutions for Terminus and Windows... But I did eventually get it figured out with their customer support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Security - I came to realize locking down a live environment is both practical and safe. Site Speed and analysis with Redis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I implore you to give them a test trial! You will never want to host or work with any other provider. Ever single dime is worth it so much.

Support is always helpful

  • March 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
They have pointed me in the right direction even if they themselves couldnt solve a problem. They recently helped me figure out that one of my plugins was causing an issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes they take a little long to reply...very rare though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Mostly backend errors that occasionally come up. Not sure about the benefits besides solving the problems quicker.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would go with Pantheon if you're on the ropes with a decision.

Very user friendly

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to deploy a CMS in a few minutes !
The support is awesome and very very reactive
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not know yet ! Perhaps the lack of webhook (appart from Quicksilver which is quiet limited)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us to deploy a CMS in a glance ! We can easily test and deploy on several environments very easily
We can save a lot of time since the devs are very autonomous to deliver a new website.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You need to think about its pricing (like any other Cloud service actually) but for sure you may save a lot of time using it ;)

A solid failsafe WebOps Platform

  • March 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to manage and create multi dev environments.
What do you dislike about the product?
The difficult handoff to clients and other devs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fully managed WebOps development and deployment platform. We save a lot of time when we don't have to manage or create project workflows or deployments.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
WordPress Mulit-Sites are not supported but if that is not needed, this is by far the easiest multi-dev and deployment platform I have used in my years of development.

Experts providing a high end service

  • March 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon is made up of experts in their field, and it shows in how they've constructed their service and products. From the first phone call I could tell that not only did they have my best interests at heart, they were actually able to understand and make intelligent recommendations beyond the usual cookie cutter responses you normally get from hosting sales teams. Once on the platform. support has continued to exceed expectations. Techs that care about what we're doing, and have real advice on how to work through problems. Pantheon makes me feel taken care of, like a valued customer of a premium tier service.

From a workflow perspective, Pantheon has been a game changer. We had git at the center of our development workflow, but Pantheon codifies this through dev, test and live environments. Not only must you work through the three step process, the only place you can write to the code is in development, making cowboy coding and live hot fixes a thing of the past. Everything is tracked, everything is stored in revisions and logged for all to see.

Having access to New Relic also makes diagnosing performance issues easy, and working with support as well, it gives a common point of reference and perspective.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pantheon is a very opinionated platform, meaning that they have built the function of their services around a best-practices work flow. That means if you're used to a very loose process it might chafe to be in a position where what you can do and how you can do it are limited. But ultimately the process is in place for a reason, to provide the best service possible, and enforce best practices in the most idiot-proof way I've seen.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Pantheon's Google Cloud Container based hosting with load balancing has been a game changer for our e-commerce customers where performance and uptime are critical. It's magical to get the performance report every week and see that site speed has been consistent and reliable every day.

Having GIT be a seamless part of the workflow shows us who has done what and when, which makes tracking down issues a lot easier and much faster. This helps mitigate a key area of weakness in many dev teams- onboarding new staff, or enforcing process with any employee. It's impossible to work outside of the Pantheon workflow, so everything is kept consistent regardless of a dev's experience level.

Pantheon's value for money has also seen us provide a much higher tier of hosting to our clients without changing our bottom line expense at all.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to bring your development processes in line and have hosting tailored to WordPress, all for a competitive price point, Pantheon is where you want to be. They have deep knowledge, vast experience, and are ready and able to get you pointed in the right direction.

The gold standard for Drupal and WordPress Web Ops

  • March 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Multidevs allow you to work on feature development away from Dev/Test/Stage.
Integration with CI tools and local development environments are great with Terminus.
SFTP/Git mode switching for developing on server is great for teams that don't need more complicated stacks.
Support engineers are fast and super knowledgeable.
What do you dislike about the product?
Performance on sandboxes and multidevs can be slower than live sites. Makes performance testing harder/unreaslistic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Not having to manage development and staging servers and amazing uptime. Benefits have been increased productivity.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Spin up a sandbox and try it out. It's free.

Excellent performance for Drupal users and developers

  • March 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the performance, development structure, and automated backups.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish phone support were easier but chat support works ok and the support articles are well written. I wish there were at least phone support for initial setup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to easily integrate git is excellent. I had a bit of a learning curve to personally learn git but now I can develop on my local MacBookPro and integrate with Pantheon.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take time to read the support articles. They are well written and work if you follow all the steps. Once setup is complete Pantheon is excellent.

Great platform for managing multiple Wordpress sites

  • March 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Ease of managing multiple environments (development, test, production)
What do you dislike about the product?
Syncing is manual process, would be great to be able to set up some kind of reminder or scheduled sync between environments
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My content authors have a safe, easily-managed space to do their work separate from the developer tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you manage multiple Wordpress sites or require several environments for testing purposes, Pantheon is a great option

    Non-Profit Organization Management

Stellar customer service and an excellent platform

  • March 19, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon's customer service is absolutely the best. They are responsive, helpful, knowledgeable, and go above and beyond to help solve problems. The platform itself is also fantastic. We build Drupal and Wordpress websites and direct all of our clients to host at Pantheon.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I dislike is that even though we send all of our clients to Pantheon, there's no referral benefit or rewards of any kind for sending that business their way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're able to provide clients with high quality, reliable hosting platform. And the dev-test-live environments are critical to our being able to provide ongoing support services with minimal disruption to live websites.
