The positive aspects of Pantheon are the bitbucket pipeline integrations, the multi-dev environments. The pipelines make it so easy to deploy to any of our environments. Multi-dev helps us test developer branches. The documentation is helpful.

The release workflow is really clean with pantheon. Being able to release the development code to staging while pulling the live database and files to staging in one step that triggers instantly is really smooth. It is a no-hassle way to do a real test release of the website updates. This setup is default to pantheon.

An absolutely great hosting provider
What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon makes managing a site super easy. They provide a development site, test site, and live site in all hosting packages. Their setup makes managing a site extremely easy. All three environments are accessible from their dashboard. Pantheon hosting also provides cache servers and Redis servers which really improved the performance of each site that is hosted with Pantheon. There is so much that you get with Pantheon hosting.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have run into a few time-out issues with their hosting. There is also no ability to change the wait times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
First, very fast website performance with their servers. Second, a nice dashboard to manage all sites. Third, nice additional features like Redis and cache servers that improve site performance for your site users.

An integrated cloud-based hosting platform
I love using Pantheon for work!
What do you like best about the product?
I like the convenience of the webpage-based dashboard mostly. Limited functionality compared to using Git on a command-line, but sufficient for most purposes.
Having multiple projects accessible from the organization dashboard makes keeping track of multiple ongoing projects pretty painless, versus manually-organizing everything.
The ability to have client-owned Pantheon projects show up under your own organization's dashboard is a big time-saver. No more project folder-hunting!

What do you dislike about the product?
1. Nil support for devs/users that need to work from Windoze boxes. (working from Win10 does not make me a non-developer lol)
2. Hope that the service eventually become truly OS-agnostic.
3. Compatibility issues with some (currently) de facto industry-standard WP plugins, themes, and basically any bit of code that tries to create and maintain their own cache files.
4. Having a web dashboard section for creating shortcut references without requiring the use of the bash would be great.
5. Inability to add custom tags to manually-created backups. This would be great for when one needs to pinpoint which backup is useful for things other than for disaster-recovery.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. Ready-to-use DevOps process that enforces uniformity in version control, Backup functionality that can be set to automatic backups on preset frequencies. I use it for clients that don't mind migrating to the platform.
2. These 2 bits of functionality have saved me from the hassle of trying to enforce policies manually. Big time-saver.
3. Beyond these, I like the fact that updates for core files of WP are taken out of the control of the site admin dashboard. As well, the fact that code updates can be done only from the Dev version of a project ensures that clients with sticky fingers don't inadvertently sabotage their own sites!

Assuming it fits your budget, Pantheon is compelling
What do you like best about the product?
Pantheon can scale to a huge traffic volume with no significant technical challenge. The platform enforces best practices that can often otherwise be skipped by teams in a rush.
What do you dislike about the product?
Pantheon provides a lot of value. Unfortunately users must pay for what they get. When Pantheon is in budget, we've never had a client regret the selection. For many clients however, Pantheon is simply too expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Hosting Drupal and WordPress sites at significant scale with a high degree of reliability. One site gets called out during the credits of a long running television show. When episodes air, the site gets hit with 50-100k visitors within a few minutes, repeating several times as different timezones view the episode. Pantheon handles these repeated short lived traffic spikes smoothly, which consistently took down the site on other hosts.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
In my experience, hosting should be approached as "What is the most we can budget for?" rather than "What is the least that will handle our site?" If your site's budget can support Pantheon, it provides compelling value.
The dev-test-live workflow and daily backups have made the service safe and reliable.
What do you like best about the product?
The dev-test-live workflow plus backups have made it easy to develop and test before going live. The sandbox environment makes it easy to test new ideas.
What do you dislike about the product?
For our Drupal environment, updating Drupal and the modules is labor-intensive and requires a lot of technical skill.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need to maintain the website for a non-profit organization.
