One of the best NoSQL databases on the market

  • February 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Fast database with minimal lags and strong data processing and recognition capabilities, especially for structured data sets. Well-resourced and supported to train up new users relatively seamlessly and efficiently. Customer support team is incredibly responsive and always quite helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's somewhat less useful for less- or un-structured data sets and requires more hand-holding and micromanagement
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has sped up the internal data analytics of corporate customer queries - resulting in faster and more targeted response and services to the end users

Using ScyllaDB extensively for an OTT Use case

  • February 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ScyllaDB provides single digit latencies even at high throuputs.
Provided managed services and helps with a cloud agnostic aproach.
One can easily switch between clouds and also have a multi cloud cluster deployment with zero downtime.
What do you dislike about the product?
The data model in Scylla needs to be well though of as per the use case in order to achive the best latencies.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using it to save tonns of user's data at very high throuputs for both writes and reads.
Provided as a managed service on scylla cloud and can also be used as BYOA on own accounts.

ScyllaDB Review

  • February 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
High performance and best scalability. Enormous volumes of data handling is done with minimal overhead . Supports Apache Cassandra is a value add
What do you dislike about the product?
ScyllaDB is bit complex in terms of configuration and management. ScyllaDB may not be the best fit for all scenarios. Additionally, there are limitations compared to other databases in certain environments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Low-latency database solution and Cassandra deployments allows for easy adoption and migration.

Possibilities

  • February 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The distributed thing, and with that, high availability. We're in the planning stages, but It looks like a good fit for us... where we have multiple facilities (in different countries), with dubious connectivity continuity. So far, it seems I've attracted the attention of at least one Scylla to our scenario. Rare indeed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Having limited time to get to grips with it properly. It would be nice if I could get my head around it all in a "dinner and a movie" timeframe, but it's looking more like I'd have to "binge watch" a Korean Drama series that had at least 120 episodes.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's not yet solving problems for us, but it's giving hope that we might be able to address our multi-facility issues

Checking usability for chemical engineering

  • February 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We need lots of columns to keep our elements and composites and don't have really different types of info that could be separated in different tables. We only use 3 and they are actually independent, so a wide column db looks very promising.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't know. Haven't find any yet, but I am just trying it (free version)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Lots of columns and need of speed to search

Not Just Yet Another Database

  • February 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Now a days there are hundreds of database products in the market with just doing one of the use cases good enough. People say you can only pick two out of three in the following in a product. - faster, better and cheaper .
However there is clear exception to this and Scylla ticks all these three boxes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Needs some additional work in the backup/recovery space. However since its mostly cloud native / born in cloud like archictectures, I would not say this is major issue. However I would like to have a better point-in-time and partial database recovery/transfer features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing large amount of constantly changing high volume data has never been easy-- Also when latency is part of the equeation, this makes this problem very complex.
Scylla is handling the peta scale documents quite well with high speed injestion as large user base concurrency.

I was evaluating ScyllaDB as a substitution for the RedisDB on the highly sharded cluster

  • February 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
That Scylla provides low latency because of the nature how it organises the shards and cores
What do you dislike about the product?
ScyllaDB seems has quite good st of features
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most benefit from my perspective is the 1 digit latency

My experience about scylla db university

  • February 15, 2024
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Scylla db's ability to deliver high performance and low-latency data access, which is crucial for demanding applications like real-time analytics and high-throughput workloads. Its architecture, based on Apache Cassandra, provides scalability and fault tolerance, making it a robust choice for distributed and large-scale data environments.
What do you dislike about the product?
While ScyllaDB has a growing community, it might not be as extensive as some other database systems, potentially impacting the availability of community-driven resources.

ScyllaDB's focus on high-throughput, low-latency scenarios means it may not be the best choice for use cases that heavily rely on complex queries or transactional consistency.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
1. High Throughput and Low Latency: ScyllaDB is designed to handle large amounts of data with minimal latency, making it well-suited for applications requiring real-time data access and high-throughput workloads.

2. Scalability: Its architecture enables seamless horizontal scaling, allowing users to easily expand their database infrastructure as data volumes grow. This scalability is crucial for handling increasing data demands.

3. Fault Tolerance: ScyllaDB, built on the principles of Apache Cassandra, provides robust fault tolerance. This means it can maintain functionality even in the face of hardware failures or network issues, ensuring data availability.

4. NoSQL Flexibility: ScyllaDB supports the NoSQL data model, allowing for flexible and dynamic schema designs.
