High performance, low hassle

  • March 21, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about ScyllaDB is that although it's a powerful database that can easily scale horizontally and vertically, it's also easy to use. It's easy to set up, and as a NoSQL database, it's easy to query too. Plus, it's open source.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although it's easy to set up once you know how to use it, understanding the different ScyllaDB products can be a bit confusing initially.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ScyllaDB let's me get up and running quickly woth a backend database for my projects so I don't have to set anything up manually.

Excellent NoSQL database

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
ScyllaDB is high performance NoSQL database compatible with Apache Cassandra. The Scylla operator makes tasks simple and the performance is quite impressive. The ability to govern low latency and its high availability is a fantastic addition.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have not found anything to dislike about ScyllaDB since it's designed to make your job easier and the ability to optimize cluster configurations and performance makes it a stellar choice.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a solution where we did to have to worry about the hardware and software requirements. ScyllaDB fits the bill and the fine-grain control we have over the process makes us happy. The high availability is a plus to address single point of failure situations.

Awesome Dives Into ScyllaDB

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that ScyllaDB does a great job at using fewer resources than Apache Cassandra. For example, it uses much less memory and a faster boot time or start-up time.
What do you dislike about the product?
ScyllaDB lacks standalone binary executables for Apple SIlicon.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's allowing me to use fewer resources (i.e. memory and the number of nodes) to accomplish my project requirements.ScyllaDB solves scalability, performance, and high availability challenges by offering a distributed NoSQL database with low-latency reads and writes. It benefits me by efficiently handling high-throughput event-driven workloads, reducing operational overhead, and ensuring fault tolerance. Its shard-per-core architecture maximizes hardware utilization, making it a cost-effective alternative to traditional databases. For Phoenix applications, this means better responsiveness under heavy loads, improved resilience, and the ability to scale horizontally without complex database management.

ScyllaDB provides lightweight database and the great support.

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We've been using ScyllaDB since 2018. It is lightweight and easy to maintain. Compared to the other DBs we are using today, ScyllaDB is more cost-efficient. I would also like to give a thumbs up to the support team.
What do you dislike about the product?
To be honest, I don't have too much on my mind.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We need a lightweight and cost-efficient database to store our data. ScyllaDB does give us such benefits, and we believe it will provide us with more. We recently leveraged Scylla Alternator to replace the usage of DynamoDB.

Best for performance seekers

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It just works! Even when some nodes are down, production servers don't go down. Monitoring and managing are great when you compare them to what Cassandra has. It also has great client drivers, which enhances the experience.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have many things to dislike because I understand this is how the ScyllaDB/Cassandra works. But it would be great to have multi-key transactions and be able to convert float columns to double columns.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
When implementing social feed in our product, we chose ScyllaDB, which handled it very well. We also use ScyllaDB for storing keys with long blob values. Also, our new product's primary storage source is ScyllaDB because it can handle substantial random writes/reads. We just love ScyllaDB and keep using it.

We are using ScylllaDB for #1 Image(or picture) storage cluster and Non-relational DB

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It provides the best Writes IOPs with SSDs in our Primary and Secondary Datacenter setups.
What do you dislike about the product?
The current Scylla JMX module is using only JDK 8 by default. Please provide options to point the Scyall JMX to use existing JDK versions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Easy Onboarding for Independent Developers

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Getting onboard was easy. I was able to create an account, enable 2FA, create a free demo cluster, and connect in about 10 minutes. This was much more efficient compared to setting up NoSQL clusters on other services. I also appreciate that getting dependencies installed was as simple as running `pip install scylla-driver`
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't found any downsides yet. I guess the main thing at this point is learning a new cloud and how to interact with it. But at the same time, the python interface that I'm used to with other DBs is relatively similar.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ScyllaDB provides a quick, vendor-neutral interface to a Database as a Service. As an independent developer, I need to be able to stand up services quickly and, often, hand them over to other people to manage. It seems like this will be a straight foward process with ScyllaDB without having to set up additional roles and permissions for 3rd parties to access the datastore.

Performant db even in low resources

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how Scylladb performs best, even under very low resources with very little TCO.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is relatively new, so has not much support for all languages like, PHP. Learning curve is also higher for the first time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it specifically for our needs to serve high throughput writes.

Best database for high data volume realtime applications

  • February 15, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to migrate from Cassandra and get a high improvement in application performance.
Easy steps for management of backup and disaster-recovery of database.
What do you dislike about the product?
In comparision to its peers, I do not see any major drawbacks in ScyllaDB.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Very low latency is the most important metric in realtime healthcare applications and ScyllaDB helps the most ij achieving the required low latency numbers.
